View Full Version : Nothing Fits!!!!!!!!!

I must have had a major growth spurt this past week and a half and I've finally came to terms with the fact that NOTHING IN MY CLOSET FITS ME!!! :eek All my pants are so tight in the belly, even if I flip the belly part down. (I can fit into my smalls but they press on my belly way too much... I carry really low to begin with).
I shouldn't be surprised but it really has happened all of the sudden. this pg is so different than the last as far as how much (or how little) weight I've gained. And I looked pretty small up until now. So I guess I have to go out and get more size larges! Well, actually I just bought two pairs of size large pants today at a cosignment sale and one is too small, and the other just fits... so maybe I should just jump into extra larges. My belly is growing like exponentially CRAZY (couldn't be twins... could it? I've been measuring right on every visit so I don't think so). Every morning I get up and feel like I gained 5 pounds overnight.
I don't know why this is catching me off guard but it is happening so quickly it's alarming.
My next MW apt is Tuesday so I'm anxious to see if I actually have grown exponentially or if I'm still right on. :down

I hear you -- I need to go up a size but just want to hold off till the weather cools down -- it is still hot here and I hate to buy a bunch of summer clothes just to wear them for 2 weeks . . .

I'm noticing that some of my maternity capris are starting to get tighter on me too.

I'm not sure what to do either because I've got the twins, so I may deliver earlier than normal (heck I could end up in the Oct DD club :( )

And, to further confuse things, I live in the Houston/Galveston area where we can freeze one day and have record high 100 degree temps the next.

So, me going to buy long sleeve shirts and full length pants is not really an option.

Oh aye yah yah, I don't know what to do either!!!

I know - and here you are all going to say something about my size 8 jean post from the other day.... Well, remember, I said I could get them OVER my butt and I couldn't ZIP or button them ;)

hee hee hee :bouncy

Yep. And me. It seems to depend entirely on which way round baby is lying- posterior I can get dressed in the morning, anterior (bum in the air) I can't. Totally random. And if baby moves too much during the day then my trousers fall off :(

Oh my gosh - me too!! Literally, like, overnight! I swear that one day pants fit, the next day they're headed for the closet...I outgrew a ton of stuff in a few days. DH noticed it too...like a huge growth spurt. I think maybe the baby dropped? Gotta find mumuus to wear. Will NOT spend any more money on mat clothes.. :p

I hear you - I am really gaining a lot of weight.. but I know so much of it is water retention.

I'm glad I am not the only one!! I am busting out of all my clothes!! My belly hangs out the bottom of my smaller maternity shirts and all the pants are starting to get really uncomfortable in the waist. UGH. I definitely don't want to buy more clothes so I am hoping the weather turns cooler so I can wear my bigger fall/winter clothes. Unfortunately they are predicting 80-90 degrees this week! :irked:

Yeah, there is some conspiracy going on with my clothes...especially my underclothes. They shrink up on me every night while I am sleeping...sneaky, eh? :LOL

Thank goodness for the local thrift stores. Maternity clothes real cheap!

Thank goodness for DH sharing his clothes with me! Maternity clothes free!

And here I was thinking that all my clothes shrank. :LOL

I've actually gained a bit less with this pg than I did with DD, but I'm carrying lower. As of last week, I outgrew pants. They all slip under my belly and then fall down when the baby moves, so I'm constantly pulling up my pants a la Chris Farley. Very attractive. Plus, I haven't gained weight anywhere but on the bump, which is measuring 3 weeks ahead! So all of my shirts are now getting too short...especially with my pants falling down all the time.

Truly, the only time I'm comfortable these days is flaked out in bed, nekkid in all my yeti glory.

Wow -- I am thrift store/yard sale junky but never find anything for me in maternity. The only sizes they seem to have are like 4X Large or so. With one major exception -- I got a gorgeous silk bright aqua blue evening dress with matching jacket at a consignment store for about $30. Such a find since I have a very formal wedding to go to and I can't imagine trying to shop retail for that.

Old Navy -- I know I hate to buy there but their stuff fits and I did use two of their skirts to get me through the entire summer, they still fit since they are really flowy-strechy but they are starting to look so worn and mis-shapen and one has a small hole in the butt.

I promised that I would just be happy if I made it through my conference last week where I had to stand up in front of about 50 men (and maybe 5 women) to present something so I did NOT want anything tight or suggestive looking since so much attention was already drawn to me both as a young woman and being PG. I did fit into my nice capris and blouse for that, thank god.

Once it gets a little cooler it will be my black old navy yoga pants (might order a few more pairs) from here out -- I have plenty of cute tops since those are easy to find!

I was the idiot who thought that she could get away with only maternity pants, and just wear some of my bigger/looser shirts. I bought a total of ONE maternity shirt- and only because I needed a dress shirt for a couple of events. Now my shirts keep riding up in the front....

Our apartment is really hot right now, and I'm keeping all of the windows closed because the entire city is covered in smoke from a fire... so naked seems more and more appealing. Besides one shift of work left and the occasional trip to buy groceries...maybe I could just spend the rest of my pregnancy topless and save the money??? :bouncy

:LOL I feel like an old (hairy) man with a big beer gut! I walked into ON today and walked out thinking...I *really* don't want to spend more money on something I'll wear for 1.5 more months max. 4 more days of work...I'll wear the sarongs I got in Thailand...1 size fits ANYTHING (as close to muu muu that I can bear). Jellyfishy - as for pants falling down, I found a really long and skinny scarf that's been saving my butt, using it as a belt. And it even looks kinda cool too..

Nighttime - I wear DH's boxer briefs (they hang below my gut but stay on cuz of the elastic) and one of his t-shirts, that are now starting to get tight. The last time it was hot and I tried to sleep al dente, poor little cosleeping DD who weaned a few months ago decided to try to nurse again in her sleep :o Oops..

oooo, been there, done that! Nipple confusion of a whole other kind!

My other problem is that in order to keep my pants up, I need to wear them on my belly (like putting a condom on a watermelon, how's that for a visual?). But my belly is so d@ma itchy that I can't bear to have anything on it for long. So once more, I'm digging and scratching at myself, and trying to pull up my pants under my armpits like an 80 year old man.

How funny!!!!
I must say that this time last pg I REFUSED to buy any more maternity clothes and had I known that I would be pregnant for almost TWO more months (he was two weeks "late") I would have. One of the clubs at school actually gave me $100 in gift certificates to Target and Walmart when I came to school in dh's clothes :LOL . But silly me, I just saved them for after we had the baby. (good thing actually because none of my clothes fit for about 7 months after that anyway). I put several lots of my clothes up on ebay so I don't feel guilty for buying more stuff. And I'm only keeping a select few favorites this time... no need to store an entire maternity wardrobe for a few years (we/I don't want another baby until this one is at LEAST three, maybe even four or five).
I'm lucky this time around that the Goodwill and Salvation Army around here have pretty good maternity sections (for thrift stores). You just have to go often enough to catch the good stuff.
Who said that they only could find 4X maternity? Well, the majority of the sizes here are small and med. So larges are hard for me to find.

Oh and dh's boxer briefs are THE MOST COMFORTABLE thing in the world right now. He even offered to go and get a few more since it wouldn't technically be buying me maternity clothes (so I wouldn't feel guilty) and he'd just continue using them anyway... hey, the more underwear you have, the less often you HAVE to do laundry :LOL
