I am so depressed over having MRSA. I can't stop crying and worrying about it. And the antibiotics that are safe for pregnancy are not working on me. I don't know what to do anymore. :(

((hugs)) What is MSRA? How does it affect the baby and you during pregnancy. I'm so sorry it's causing you so many problems and worry!

My grandmother has MRSA. I really dont know a lot about except we cant let her hold the baby and antibiotics dont work for it no matter the strenght.
Have you done a google search to learn more?
Another though is have you looked into vitamin C?
Ps I am not in this birth club just noticed your post when I did a new post search

Hi, thank you, MRSA is a type of staph infection that is resistent to most a.b. It's the "super bug". :( So, I have it this time in the form of red bumps all over my legs that look like mosquito bites or bruises but they are actually abcesses. The first one I had looked like a spider bite and I had massive cellulitis growing around it and had to be hospitalized to receive IV a/b. That was while I was preg, too, but it was before implantation, so hopefully baby is ok.
Here is a decent article http://parenting.ivillage.com/gs/gshealth/0,,3q70,00.html

Hi Mom to L&A I live on google doing searches all the time. I hate to hear other MRSA patients being deprived of normal lives. My doctor says that I am less contagious while on a/b, and that after delivery I will be able to take a mixture of a/b that will de-colonize me. But, in any case, the best thing to do to protect yourself is to wash your hands.
Your grandmother probably has hospital aquired MRSA, while I have community aquired MRSA. Did she have some kind of surgery and fall ill after that?

I'm so sorry you are having a hard time with this! :( Is it painful? I've never heard of community-aquired MRSA...I worked in hospitals for 7 years before becoming a mom and came across hospital-aquired MRSA fairly often. It seemed to be a pretty big deal for those patients (probably more so because they were already ill or injured and their body was already compromised before the infection). Nasty bug. I wish I had something to offer besides :hugs ...

Oh, how dreadful! I used to work in nursing homes (social worker) and saw residents with MRSA on occasion. It really is aggressively inconvenient, at least! How frustrating for you.
Not to mention, it stinks to be sick in *any* way while pg, doesn't it? How is it affecting you? Do you know how you got it?

Have you looked into using raw garlic , it has anti bacterial properties that work on resistent bacteria. Or may be natural bacteria capsules to give your boby a better chance to fight it?.
I'm sure it won't cure it but it might help the antibiotics along.
I feel so bad for you :(
