Y'know - peanut, pumpkin, bean (what's with all the veggies?), bug, little squirt, embry(o), etc?
I'm going with "amoeba" for now, but am considering all options. :p It's that or "tiny parasite."
(Of course this is all tongue-in-cheek - I call my loved-beyond-reason puppy "the Tiny Terrorist" and "Muskrat".)

none for me...we did that last time after our 9 week sonogram...called ds beanie. but i'm doing a homebirth this time and our first prenatal isn't until i'm past the 10 week mark and then i have no idea when i'm getting the first sono so i might end up using his/her name right away instead of a nickname! this pregnancy is quite different already!

I started calling the baby-to-be sweet pea awhile ago. Today I keep calling it "pea" for short, which I like (as in "Lexie and the little pea"). Since I also call my dog "P" (his name is Pinter) I think "little Pea and big P" sound nice :) I don't know, maybe that's weird...

What is it with the veggies, really? Why do we call our children after vegetables? (And I know it's done in france, too, my little cabbage.) I'm as guilty as the next person...strongly considering the little Rutabaga or possibly Turnip. Although I do really like Amoeba...hmmm. :p

I had to have an ultrasound a few days ago and the technician said, oh, your baby is just a little 2 milimeter speck right now. And I yell (well say loudly), "but its MY little speck". Since then we have been calling our babe "specky". :-)

Speck is cute :D
I think veggies make sense -- they grow in a similar way to a baby.
Mon petite chou (my little cabbage) is one of my favorite nicknames ever - thanks for the reminder!

As some of you know, we've been calling ours "monster"...especially when I'm doubled over with gas pains or biting the head off of my dear husband!

with dd we called her "little grub" for the longest time, much to the chagrin of all the grandparents... :LOL we loved it. maybe we'll come up with something in the insect family this time too....

I've been using Little Pea myself. DH and I were reading a passage in a book about the first trimester and somewhere in the text it said something about the baby being the size of a little pea, tiny pea, something of the sort. I picked it up from DH though he says he doesn't remember saying "Awww, a little pea," the thing that got me started on this nickname in the 1st place. :LOL dshields, I love monster. When I first read that post I :rotflmao I decided then and there to confiscate this for my own agenda. :LOL

A couple of days after we found out we were pregnant . DS and I were reading a book. One of the character's name was chicky chick. I liked it and Sam loved it. :LOL THe babes name is Chicky chick. DS loves it so much. When I bring up "real" names for when the baby is born he says "no mom (little shrug) just chicky chick."

We have a few. I have been called Laurie Lu by my family my entire life, so this is "baby lu". Also, "gas monster", "parasite", and "doodoo baby"... These last three are symptom induced. Doodoo baby and parasite only lasted a few days, but for those first BFP days I couldn't get 10 feet away from the toilet :inthet :bag: . Thank GOODNESS the nicknames didn't stick. Most times it's baby lu.
