So, I've got some boy and girl names that dh and I have agreed on. And more than a few that we don't. But I"ll only list the ones we both like.
Tell me what you think!
Girl:
Ok, Rose is the middle name, no matter what, it's a family name.
Victoria is the top in the running here, Tori for short.
Also:
Desdemona
Eliana
Possibly Dorothy or Dorthea, after my grandmother (whose birthday is two days before our due date, and she died a few weeks before we found out we were pg)
(Gosh, I have a huge list of girls names, and these are the only ones dh and I can agree on? He is so picky! :LOL )
Boy:
Alexander
Sebastian (dh's fave)
Josiah (my fave)
Andrew
Byron
Riordan (the only unusual name dh liked- it means poet)
Crispin (it means curly, which you would understand if you met my dh :D )
We need middle and first name help here.
I'm partial to unusual classic sounding names.
So, anyway, lay it on me! *sigh* Wish the baby would just tell me.

Byron
Sebastian
are my two favorites out of the boys list...and just throwing it out there for a middle name classic but unused Clark...our son's middle name is Clark(after my Grandfather who is deceased)
Originally his name was to be Hudson Baker-the Baker part was the part supposed to honor my Grandfather in this name combo but when Hudson did not go well with our last name we changed the first name to Hunter.
As you can see Hunter Baker does not go well together at all so we used his first name of Clark instead...well at first I was not overly fond of it..it grew on me and now I love it and the fact that it is classic but not popular.
Umm sorry to say I am not a fan of any of your girls names...although Dorothy is my Grandmothers name as well...Clark's wife. Her middle name is Catherine if you are looking for a middle name to go with it.

Dorothy Rose looks wonderful spelled out. I think I'd go with Josiah or Andrew for the boy. Alexander is still pretty popular.

I love Victoria Rose. So elegant. Dorothea is cute with a nn of Thea.
I'm partial to Sebastian(my older ds's middle name) and Josiah(which was on our list). I also like Alexander and Andrew. Actually, I also like Riordan and love the meaning of it. Great names....tough decision!!!

Scotia, that is hilarious! Clark was also my grampa's name, and he was married to Dorothy. Are we related?? :) (Oh, I just checked, my Gramma's middle name was May. Dorothy May. Not the same one. But how funny!)
Dh likes Sebastian Alexander, and I think it flows, but I don't like Sebastian that much. If I could find a decent nickname... any ideas? For Alexander, I really like Xander as a nickname.
Victoria Rose is what we decided on way early on for a girl, but I imagined calling my child Tori, and just got ick vibes from it... I think it's because I'm having a boy, and he woudn't like such a feminine name. So, it's still in the running, because, in theory, I really like the name.
And I didn't specify, but Dorthea is pronounced dor -TAY- uh (which I think is really pretty. :)) And I do like Thea for short (pronounced Taya).
Oh yes, Tara likes the name Crispin Johann (means God is gracious, which I like) And dh doesn't hate that for a middle name either, and since it's his middle name, it's not like everyone will think "Bach" if they see him.
Ok, let me summarize:
Victoria Rose
Victoria Dorothy Rose (We have been considering this as a nod to my gramma)
Dorothy Rose
Eliana Rose (I just LOVE the name Eliana! Means My God has answered.)
Sebastian Alexander (need a nickname)
Crispin Johann (Only thing dh doesn't like about Crispin, is the nickname would be Cris, which is too close to his own name-- he doesn't want to name our kids after ourselves.)
You know, I live the name Riordan, but I'm thinking it might be hard to say with our last name. (Our last name starts with an R.)
I really like Andrew.... but what middle name? Hmm... what about Crispin there?
Andrew Crispin
Andrew Sebastian <-- I like that one! Drew for short.
Andrew Byron
OK, pardon my very stream of conciousness post... :)
Thanks for all the help!

I really like Eliana (which you probably already know means, "God has answered my prayers"). Victoria is pretty too, but less unusual. Desdemona is forever linked with being strangled by a jealous husband in my mind. Dorothy sounds sort of frumpy - but I am totally into honoring grandparents with names.
For boys my vote is Josias. It's a classic, but not a trendy classic. I really like it. Crispin has (in my mind) echoes of "wispy" and "potato chip" ("Crisp" in British usage), so that didn't get my vote.
But gosh. Much as I enjoy weighing in on these naming questions, you really can't take anything anyone says too seriously. Go with what you like and to heck with all of us!

Wow that is odd another Dorothy and Clark out there..my Clark's middle name was Nathan.
Living in a French speaking area where Sebastian is a popular name..the nickname is Seb. But think that Sebastian Alexander is too much of a mouthful.
I like Johann as a middle name somewhere back in my family it has been used as well.

We can not come up with any names for this little guy. We only had the one name for my son and I wasn't even excited about it...
Hoping to stumble across something cool ...

I'm w/ zinemama on Desdemona--just can't get past the whole sad saga.
I think the other name are beautiful. I know a Victoria called Tori. I also know two Laura (or Lora) Rose's. I also like Bella or Isabella, which both go nicely w/ Rose.
As for boys--I'm partial to Josiah (hope to someday use that one). Sebastian seems like such a mouthful for a little guy. I also like Riordan. A couple of places you might try to come up w/ a middle name for a boy are history books or poetry books (since you like the classical names) and movie credits.
We also always try to combine the first and middle names to mean something coherent together. We have a "fair-haired warrior", a "great & mighty servant" (seems like a contradiction until you meet this little girl! lol), and "God's sweet promise." Just a thought!
