Thought I'd start a reason to be thankful it's the 3rd Trimester thread. It's HILARIOUSLY and sometimes sad! to read the 2nd Trimester thankful thread!
Um... can we possibly come up with reasons why we're thankful it's the 3rd trimester???
I'm going to ask the August EDDs to help us out again... if they're still hanging around.
1. We are closer to meeting our babies than seeing the :+
2. Most of us won't puke again until maybe transition.
3. Our babies are growing, thriving and healthy. :candle Remembering those of us no longer pregnant. :candle
4. Those without kids can take a nap when they're tired or run to the store really quickly if they want to.
5. Strangers open doors for us and would even carry a bag of groceries for us if we huffed enough.
6. My son is such a joy to watch gear up for another sibling. He says, "Mama, you push like grrrrrrr to make dat baby come out... now?"
7. Our sleep is pretty much only interrupted by our bladders or insomnia, but not by a screaming baby.
8. We don't wake up totally drenched in breastmilk.
9. Our clothes are dirty only because we spilled food on our belly, not because a baby spit up all down our shirt and/or pooped on us 5 minutes before we were going to leave.
10. "Colic" is just a distant memory or a word yet to be defined.
11. My DH and I are finally out of denial and are actually planning for the twins! :) We actually shopped for carseats last week! He looked at the pictures of the twin nursing pillow, and was like "we're going to need that!" :) Yay!

12. The belly makes an excellent tray when snacking on the couch.
13. The belly makes me look in the mirror and think, hmmm, are my thighs getting slimmer?
14. DH looks at me struggling to reach the sink to do the dishes and says "why don't you take over dishes again in January?"
15. The look of shock and dismay on the faces of the old farts at work when I ride up to my building on my bike and proceed to discuss my run from the previous evening.
16. The ease with which I can convince the department head that I need a new office chair.
17. The constant and predictable reminders that this baby is a-ok.
18. The look of wonder and sudden understanding when DD feels her baby brother move for the first time.

19. Feeling those kicks and squirms and just imagining what is yet to come!
20. Getting excited about giving birth but not quite close enough that it is reality yet :LOL
21. People are really nice to pregnant mamas usually
22. The weight gain doesn't seem so important anymore -- there's a baby there!!

23. The nesting instinct has us cleaning our homes (finally) that were otherwise left in a state of chaos during trimesters 1 and 2.

24. Having an excuse to leave dreadful events early - or not go at all.
25. A very good reason to take a nightly very long bath - using crazy wasteful amounts of bath oil!
26. Bathing suit season is behind us (whew!) I'm all for sporting the bikini with the big belly hanging out - but since I am no longer able to see below said big belly, the shaving issue is a little out of control!

I'm not officially 3rd tri yet, but I love that my belly is finally big enough for my youngest (now 11 months) to notice that something is different about mommy's body. She even rubbed my belly yesterday!! :heartbeat

I was cutting mine yesterday and my husband (seeing me shifting around trying to get at my toes) offered to cut them for me. I didn't take him up on it, but I think next time I will.

:topic: Ok, I have this thing. I like to labor with pretty painted toe nails. But, I've never been a splurger on pedicures... I think I had one once for a wedding I was in. Soooo... sometime when I'm tired of being up all night with ctx that don't seem to do anything and I KNOW I'm close to meeting my baby, I'll hoist a leg up on the bathroom counter and paint my toe nails one by one. Somehow I think it helps me go into labor. Pretty toe nails... my favorite induction method. :LOL
Oh, and I think mint chocolate chip ice cream works for heartburn... although I'm not really a heartburn sufferer. Maybe it's all the mint chocolate chip ice cream!!! :LOL

Reasons to be thankful in 3rd tri:
* After multiple previous miscarriages, I'm *so* happy that this baby is healthy!
* When asked what's in mommy's tummy, DS now reliably says, "baby brother!"
* People are amazed when I do normal things like ride my bike someplace.
* DH is helping out more than ever, bless him!
* Being warm when it's cool outside (yes, it does get cool, even here in California). The winter I was in my 3rd tri with DS was the only winter of my 8 winters in Michigan that I was comfortable!
* The pregnancy is within 3 months of being over - I will be so excited to have my body/physical abilities back!
* It's so exciting to think about big brother meeting baby brother, awww :)

Feeling grateful that most babies turn to a head down position by 36 weeks and that these fantastic kicks to the rectum can't last forever!! (wait, do they then turn into rectal punches?)...
