*changed the send date to Oct 5th since we got a little delayed.
Welcome to your online Baby Shower! Don't worry you won't have to play silly games or having anyone guess your circumference! This is how we'll work it:
In this swap you will send one package out and receive one package from someone else. The limit for your package is $20 before shipping and delivery confirmation. You may put your package together using new or gently used excellent condition items. If you're not able to do the full $20 worth, then please, don't sweat it. We all want everyone to play!
To make sure that everyone gets a package that they love, please post your "In Search Of" or ISO list by Wednesday, Sept 21st at midnight EST. Make your list as long as possible with things that you want for your baby or for you or for the birth or whatnot. If you want something to only be new, make sure you say so. If you're open to hand made goodies (sometimes you get the most AMAZING handmade things here at MDC!!!!) then make sure you post it. :)
After all the ISO's are posted, you look through to find a person that you have or can buy $15 worth of items for. You will them PM me your choice(s) by Saturday, Sept 24th at midnight EST or sooner. It's best if you find a few different people you could send to so that everyone will have a good chance of getting matched up. For swap experts, we can do double swaps or two picks if you'd like, but no more than two as it makes my eyes go crossed!
As soon as I have all the picks, I will match people up with one another and post whom will be sending to whom. If someone is not picked at all, I'll post asking if someone could add them to their list of people to send to.
If you're from outside of the US, please say so in your post so that whoever picks you knows that shipping will be extra (or you can find someone from your own country to swap with).
You will have one week to get your package together and to write a nice note about your wishes/prayers/blessings about their upcoming birth/baby/entrance to motherhood and to ship to the person you were matched up with. Saturday, Oct 1st is the deadline to ship. Make sure you get a delivery confirmation number with your US to US shipments and post that number to our thread for your matchee to see and track.
If you have any questions, please post them here! :)
DEADLINE DATES TO KNOW
Wednesday, Sept 21st at midnight EST - for posting ISO's
Saturday, Sept 24th at midnight EST - for PMing me your picks
Wednesday, Oct 5th - for pkg and note shipping with Delivery Confirmation (if US to US)[/B]

We're expecting a surprise, so I'd prefer unisex colors/items unless noted otherwise (I love white, off white, butter, yellow, golden brown, deep purple, greens, teals, oranges just to name a few unisex colors). And, we're planning a homebirth.
I LOVE handmade items. :love Ahhh, they make me swoon. :) in fact, I used blue for anything that could have a handmade alternative. If you make something and you don't see it appearing on my list, but you think I might like it, just send me a PM and I'll add it! :) I also love WAHM made items. :)
For the Baby:
- ***Natural Preemie Organic Kimono & matching hat http://www.underthenile.com/underthenile/item_detail.php?id=192 and http://www.underthenile.com/underthenile/item_detail.php?id=239 *** Or similar sleepsack/hat in Preemie size or handmade equivalent.
- Born At Home PF (preemie) http://www.littleearthangels.com/catalog.php?category=8
- Organic Velour Prefolds
- Swaddle Me - like this (http://www.kidsurplus.com/kdo-115-preemie.html) or this (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0006B4BVW/qid=1126819743/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/103-3333757-1591031?v=glance&s=baby) If you're buying new, i'd most like preemie size in unisex color. Otherwise if it's not new, I'd take any color or size! :)
- Anything at all like these (http://www.nordicwoollens.com/c188943.2.html) (although I do NOT need socks, mittens or underwear)
- Advocacy wear for nursing, cloth diapering or homebirth (used only though, don't go spending money on this one, ok?)
- Small knit gnome or doll for gnawing on. Like this (http://www.seasonsoriginals.biz/store/images/gnomeorangeplantdyed.JPG) or similar.
- Can't swing it, but I LOVE it. sz 0-6 Silk bonnet Silk Bonnet (http://www.novanatural.com/product.phtml?pr=4500&sec=104) Homemade bonnet with silk yarn is a possibility.
- Hand dyed GN clothing (like tye dye onsies and such)
- Friendship bracelet, remember those braided/knotted bracelets? http://www.mediamessage.com/kayton/GirlScouts/bracelet.htm I need two (one spare) for tying off my baby's umbilical cord(I'll sterilize it). It should be about 2 1/2 - 3 inches of thin knotting and then tie off and leave the strings on either side long. That would be so special! You pick the colors that you are drawn to for my baby. :)
- I LOVE THIS http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?&p=3&uid=3116405&gid=6892236&&imgid=107012903#top I'd prefer soft yummy natural fiber colorful yarn.
- You knit? Can you make these (http://hyenacart.com/prod_details.php?id=33394&vid=30) with a 4 inch long sole? GN varigated yarn preferred. Otherwise this might still be available to buy?
- Someone to knit this http://www.sleepingbaby.net/jan/index.html?Baby/crochet.html (but let me ok the yarn colors and send you my measurements)
For Me:
- Positive birth affirmations written neatly or typed on little index cards or similar. Things like, "I breathe up each surge and make it work for me" or "Mother and Baby working together." Please, no references to Jesus or pain. And, please, if you want to use the word "contraction" insert "surge" instead. :)
- Something for my birth alter... sounds new agey and weird, but I always end up with one! A special little trinket that you found or made and explain why it caught your eye or inspired you. :)
- Chocolate: I love the harder to find in the US or natural kind. I like white, dark, milk, nuts, dried fruit, I love it all!
- Whole beans or ground yummy coffee (Full caf, bring it on, baby!)
- Used or Mamamade PUL backed washable breast pads

I'm in Canada.
For me:
- XS or XP (size 3 or under) maternity clothes for a VERY cold winter approaching temperatures of -40. This is stuff like thick pants, sweaters and thick long-sleeved shirts. Gently used, heavily used, I don't care! Just so long as they fit and I can walk outside in them and not have my belly exposed beneath my ill-fitting coat!
For birth/baby:
- Reusable or disposible chux pads
- Fish scale
- Emergen-C or labour aide type stuff.
- Anything you valued in your homebirthing supply box (already have tons of bendy straws, though)
- Advocacy onesie (homebirth, breastfeeding, cloth diapering - it's all good!)
- Small AIO's or nighttime cloth diapers - I have none! Used and even stained is fine, so long as they still work!
- non-pink warm, small/newborn sleepers, for boy or girl, I just loathe the colour on any child!

Why are these lists so hard for me? I actually feel anxious trying to do this. Wierd, huh? OK, here goes...
For me:
-new journal
-any homebith type stuff (I have all the essential supplies - but could use some cool stuff to add to it - like candles, birth chant CDs, lotions, etc, homebirth advocacy wear/bumper stickers, etc, post partum bath herbs) - thanks for the ideas, Claire!
For baby: (girl - Lucy Kate)
-advocacy t-shirts or onesies - breastfeeding, homebirth, AP
-cute diaper covers
-any homebirth oriented stuff
-cool wooden toys
-anything monogrammed - I have a weakness for monograms! Her full name is Lucy Kate Lazenby
General:
-I'd love anything homemade for me or Lucy
(hope that's a little better :))

Erin, I think the more you do swaps the easier it becomes. It's always nice to give people a lot to choose from. In most swaps the people with the longest lists get picked over and over again. The people with the fewest items are the hardest to get matched up.
So, just keep adding to your list when you think of things. Take a look when others post their lists to see if their items sound good to you, too! :)Since this is New and Used swapping, give us a few links for buying, whether it be something little you saw and loved or something bigger that you dream of but know you won't get. Also, it's a good idea to think of how others will see your list -- homebirth type stuff -- could mean homebirth advocacy wear, homebirth bumper stickers, supplies like post partum bath herbs, homeopathics like arnica, chux pads, depends undergarments, plastic shower curtain, hydrogen peroxide, umbilical cord clip, etc. Are all those options ok with you? If not, say so. We want to get/make/find things that you will really love. :)

Spark~ thank you so much for organizing this! It will be fun! I'll start my list and add to it as I think of things. I'm love the idea of having something from another mom for my birthing time. I don't know what would be a good idea, though. I will be birthing at home with a midwife, doula, hubby, and 4 yo son. I also love HOMEMADE things. They warm my heart :heartbeat .
For baby Erick:
booties (0-3 month)
stocking cap (newborn)
For me (Melia, aka "littlemomma"):
anything I might need for a homebirth
Lilipads nursing pads
pregnancy tea and/or nursing tea (decaf please)
affirmations
baby book
maya wrap
book or video for 5 yo son about homebirth/birth/being a big brother
"big brother" t-shirt size 5

Id like to play too. Im in BC Canada.
General info about us:
We're expecting a boy. I tend to have big babies (10lbs ish)
I really really love handmade stuff for me or the babe. We cloth diaper and are planning a HB.
some things we need for baby:
soft sleepers, outfits, I prefer cotton and or unbleached, bold colours, Id really love some Hanna andersson zippers or anythign really, we dont have one here and its hard to get www.hannaandersson.com (look in the sale section LOL) say the 3-6m sizes, or 10lbs plus.
-gently used snowsuit, boyish
-warm booties, hats, mitts
- baby burts bees anything or other yummy baby stuff
-small sized baby quilts
-a pouch or wrap type carrier, Id like to try a moby or something, I only have a maya sling and an ergo and would love to add to my collection.
-scrapbooking album or baby boy supplies (I do 12x12 books/pages)
-anything tie dyed for baby or advocacy wear.
-tiny nb/small diapers/covers.
For me or others:
-Any nursing jammies or shirts, im a large in most brands
-nursing teas?
-Id really love some knitted socks for birthing, my feet are always cold.
-anything nice really, im not sure what to ask for for me lol.,
-baby will have 2 siblings, Parker age 4 (40lbs in a 5t) and Avery 2.5yrs (30lbs in a 3t) if you can think of anything for them
Again, im really flexable and it doesnt take much to please me :)
I wasn't sure if i could participate in this, because shipping to india is a bit much.
BUT here's the thing: I used to send my DH packages here, and you can get a Global Priority Mail envelope in the US for 5.85, then smush almost anything in there and send it. so please include whatever the current price is for GP mail in your $20, ok??
About us: I'm having twins, don't know the gender, we're in bombay so it's not THAT cold here. (no thick wool sweaters, thanks)
The lists above inspired me! Used things are GREAT for me. Handmade is wonderful. Actually i just would love to get some mail. Hahaha. Here are some things:
For babies:
-socks or those little gloves that keep them from scratching (good idea!)
-THIN blankets
-a couple of plain onesies/undershirts....for some reason i don't know where to find these here!
-a used sling in a brand you loved that you can explain to me how/why to wear (like you might find it from trading post -- which i'm too overwhelmed about slings to use)
-one or two of those cute towels with hoods for after bath...nothing too ornate please...something you've used and can recommend!
Or for ME!!
-emergen-C drinks - YUM!
-2 baby books, if you know of a brand that is not too pre-fab (NOT a fill-in-the-blanks type book), or one if you think it would work for twins....actually i just need some help picking a baby book so you could even just write your recommendation to me on a piece of paper if you are too scared to buy for a picky person like me LOL!
-nursing pads - again new or used (but clean) is fine, but i'd love something you can recommend based on experience, cause that's where i need help.
Really, anything would be great. Like i said, i just want to get something that someone out there thinks would make a twin delivery or the 3-4 weeks afterward a little easier!!

Yay!
For baby: Baby girl
We already have a daughter and saved everything from her, so really the only thing we really need is long sleeved shirts in sizes newborn all the way to 12 months (my babies get really fat really fast). Any colors and used ok.
We also need a baby book for her.
I love handmade things.
I'd love a ring sling that is unpadded - like a maya wrap or something similar that I can fit in my diaper bag. I am short (just over 5 feet tall) and super tiny (100 pounds) so probably an xs or sm size.

This is hard for me! I am a good gift giver, but I hate "registering".
I don't know gender, so I buy ivory, green, yellow, red, purple, aquas.
*I guess from the experienced mommies, any cloth diapering pieces like covers or AIO's. (But then why wouldn't you all want to "use" them, too!)
*breast pads or any other essential breastfeeding things you know work well. I have two blue canoe nursing bras and a copy of "Womanly Art of BF", and that's it!
*Any excersise DVD's (yoga, pilates, non-cardio) that you bought and are collecting dust. (Perhaps this will get you to use them, though! :LOL )
*A non-Hallmarky baby book sounds great

-organic wool covers (wraps, soakers, longies)
-organic sheets
-organic bath towel/washcloths
-organic blankets
-organic toys/teethers
-organic baby sling/carrier, any type that accomodates a newborn, I am 5'9, average build, usually a large, if size matters
For our home/water birth (disposable, non-organic items are fine):
-chux pads
-herbals for birth (any)
-mattress cover, king size
-anything that worked great for you
For postpartum:
-organic mama pads
-organic nursing pads
-organic nursing bras/clothing/pajamas (I'm a L/XL 38D)
-disposable panties for those first few messy days :o
My retail wish list (it shows as a baby registry, but it's really just a list I'm keeping for myself to shop from as PayPal comes in :LOL ):

Gift certificates I'd be sure to put to good use:

I sew, so I would have fun with any organic fabric you wanted to send. I hope it doesn't sound like I'm too picky: other than preferring organics and not liking hemp, I'm a pretty easygoing kind of girl. Not picky about colors/styles/used/new . . . etc

me too! maybe it's my mother's constant voice in my head..."thou shalt not ask for anything!"
Oh, Erin, but really, we want to get you what you'll be the most pleased with. We need direction! :) In a swap your job IS to ask for what you want. Take a look at some of the swap ISO's at the Co-Swap Section of the Trading Post (you can see it only if you've been a member for over 60 days and you have posted 50+ times). Also, you can go there for inspiration to see what else you'd like. Here is just one example of a detailed swap list... http://www.mothering.com/discussions/showpost.php?p=3365433&postcount=3 (if you can't see that link, it's basically a swap list that takes up 1/3 of the scrolling page) We're NOWHERE near that here though! :LOL

This is my first baby, so there are lots of things I need. Used and/or homemade would be awesome.
gender neutral baby clothes - would appreciate anything (seriously, I have one adorable 3-6 months sleeper that my SIL made and that's it!)
diapers
- Kissaluvs 0s
- small size covers
- pockets/AIOs in any size
- newborn or small wool soaker
me
- nursing tops, size small, especially tanks or camis
- sling, like a Maya wrap, in a not-too-girlie fabric DH can wear too
- chocolate

Closing tonight, so please, do your final edit of your ISO lists.
After midnight EST tonight send me a PM that includes:
1. How many packages you'd like to send out (you'd receive the same number in return). Or if you have a double swap for someone (that means that the items you have before shipping total $20 + $20 = $40) in exchange you'd either get a double swap from one person or two packages from two different people.
2. The people you'd like to send packages to (please have at least two people, you can rank them if you'd like).
As soon as I have everyone's picks in, I'll match everyone up and post it to our list. The sooner the picks get in, the sooner you'll know who you're sending to/receiving from. :thumb
YAY!! This will be so much fun! :D

Hi, Littlemomma! I was going to send you a Private Message (PM) so you could just have one in your in box but thought it might be a little confusing to just baptize you by fire like that. :wink
How to send a PM:
Click on Spark in the left hand corner of this post.
Choose the second option which is "Send a private message to Spark"
You'll see something open that looks like a blank post. You'll put in the title, write the message in the space provided below and then hit Submit Message.
That message will go straight to my PM mailbox
(you can access yours directly by scrolling up to the top of any screen at MDC. You'll see something that says, "Welcome, Littlemomma" in bold letters. Two lines down it says: Private Messages (in a hyperlink). You can click on that hyperlink to check your messages.)
If you have ANY trouble with it, just post your picks here and I'll see them. Otherwise, I'll send you a PM and you'll just have to respond back. :)

I think she could have sent out 7 pkgs because so many people requested her! No fear of shipping to India here! :LOL
Please, PM the person you are sending a pkg to for their address and any questions you might have about specifics of their list. :) Then, get your pkgs together and mail out (with a Delivery Confirmation if sending US/US) by Oct 5th. Post your Delivery Confirmation # here on the board when you know it. THEN post a THANK YOU to your sender when you receive your gift. We love to hear what you got and how touched you were! :D

Oooooooh, I feel like a kid at Christmas again. Spark, your package arrived today, and I :love :love :love :love :love :love :love it. You spoiled me rotten!
That OV Cuddlebuns diaper is definitely the yummiest thing baby will have in his/her stash! It is just gorgeous, and I love the pastel serging and snaps. I couldn't stop snuggling with it. It's the only thing hyena baby has.
I put the cashmere breast pads on today and wore them around the house, just cause they looked so soft and felt so nice. :LOL I didn't even know these existed. I might have to hit hubby up for a couple more pair, now that I've been spoiled by these! :D
I'm so grateful for the birth supplies. I was starting to feel panicked about how little I had on hand after reading the birth supply thread, and made a huge list last night of all my wants and needs. Arnica and Depends were both on there, and it's so exciting to be able to cross them off just hours after putting them on.
1/3 of my chocolate bar is already gone. :bag: I simply cannot be trusted around delicious treats!
It was so thoughtful of you to put chalk in for the kids. They LOVE to draw on our driveway, and think the egg shape and having their each unique one with their favorite colors is the coolest. So sweet you are!
Thanks, too, for all the other yummy goodies. The "hope" and "dream" cards are so pretty and inspirational. Can't wait to let the Lavender Batherapy take me away. You know I'll put that lanolin to good use! I love the citrus smell of the aromatherapy (do I dissolve it, sniff it, lather it, eat it? LOL! I'm such a ninny about figuring these things out!)
I really appreciated your note, too. Isn't it amazing how close we can feel to people we've never actually met? I feel like I've made a new friend through this, and I'm so grateful. Sorry, too, to learn that you also have a little angel in heaven. I didn't know that. I really appreciate your prayers!

The Depends are probably all that you'll need. After the first day or two, it seems silly to wear them. So, no need to get more. :)
The aromatherapy citrus soap is for wool. It's wool wash with lanolin in it. If you normally use a liquid wool wash, then the little bar is nice for stains or spots to rub a bit on to really get them out. :thumb

That soap is handmade by a local woman. She sells it at the holiday craft fair at our campus, and so I stock up then, but I always end up ordering more during the summer because it's so yummy.
And I know what you mean about playing with the tiny diapers and covers - I have lots of folded up diapers inside covers sitting on top of the baby's dresser.

What an amazing package arrived today!!! :clap Wow!!!
First off, everything was wrapped up so beautifully! A sweet little Baby Shower bag and tissue paper and ribbons! So cool! Oh, where to begin --
Jude and Cicely were right there with me when i was opening it and I was SOOOO glad that they left the hard rectangular package for me, because surely I wouldn't have been able to wrestle the chocolate away from them!! And, what GREAT chocolate that looks like! (When the kids go to bed, I have a serious date with one of those bars! :LOL)
When Cicely opened up the organic velour wipes she kept saying "Doft! Doft!" And, I agree, they are SOOOO soft/doft! That OV is SO luscious! Wow! And, I love love love that you made everything! :bow It;s so special. You TRULY spoiled me, because then there were a yummy pair OV/PUL breastpads. Wow. NICE! :thumb And, then the coolest OV PFs! Wow! My baby's bum is going to be sooooo spoiled!!!! :LOL I really can't tell you how touched I am by your prayers and your hands making everything!
Then, the really cool affirmations. Oh, that just touched me so much! You made them so beautiful! The notecards you used and metalic ink, just gorgeous! I mean, gorgeous! I just adore them! :hug
Thank you so so so so much! I'm so touched and teared up several times. I'm just so touched and so grateful for your love and generosity. Thank you, Jen.

Oh Claire, you're such a sweetie! :love
I'm so glad you liked the package. I have to admit, as I was sewing, I cringed at every wavy edge and crooked seam, and hoped you'd overlook them for the softness of the fabric. I really wanted to do the breastpads with a more neutral PUL, but time and budget would only allow me to use what I had on hand (can you say BLUE???) :eek
Anyway, your note made my day. I really, really, really LOVED every moment I spent making them for you. To get such a sweet thank you on top of it all is just icing on the cake.
Blessings to you and your family. I will continue to keep you in my prayers all the way through our postpartum periods.
Much love,

Claire - I got my package :throb
So where to begin - well I guess with what's already gone...the delicious chocolate! Yum! (It counts as dinner right?) The calendula and arnica will definitely come in handy!! The candle is so so so wonderful smelling - I am surely planning to use it during labor! I cannot wait to immerse myself in that lavender mineral bath (that's gonna be soon!!), and Jake will love his bath confetti too! The chalk will certainly be used tomorrow - so nice of you to think of him!! The breast pads and lanolin will be very very useful - I'm a huge leaker!! And speaking of leaking, the depends will be put to good use too :LOL The inspirational cards are so sweet - and your note just toppped everything off!
I have to say - I had a very very bad day (spent most of the day at the Cancer Center with my mom who is not doing very well), and this package was the light in my otherwise fairly dark day. I cannot thank you enough for all the thoughtful gifts and for your kind words. Thank you!

Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOO much for everything! I loved it all! :love
Love love love, the "Born@homewithmom" Tie dye shirt.
Also LOVE the tie dye matching T-shirt and "Breastfed" infant cap, so small and sweet. And the colors are amazing! And they were wrapped up so pretty in that little cloth bag.....it actually brought tears to my eyes.
The bumper sticker "Make milk not war" is so cool...thanks!
And the Mother's Milk Tea was also perfect. (I was planning on buying some for after the birth....it's like you read my mind!)
And the bath confetti.....I've never seen anything like it and I can't wait to try it out! :wink
Thank you so so so so much for all the thoughtfulness you've put into my gifts and for bringing a big smile to my face today. :hug

Ooooooh, Robin, my luxurious baby spa package arrived today. Thanks so much for your thoughtful gift! The bath mitt is absolutely the softest thing I have ever felt, and baby is going to be so spoiled by the care sampler. I love that everything is so pure and organic.
Thanks, too, for introducing me to two new fabulous companies I knew nothing about before. I'm having fun looking around their websites at all their cool products. (DH won't be too happy with you though, LOL!!)
Your note was really sweet and personal. Thanks for making me and baby feel so special!
I, too, have enjoyed getting to know you better through this swap, and wish you a wonderful birth as well!
Sincerely,
Jennifer

Erin, I'm glad that last part of your swap pkg arrived and that you liked it. I thought I'd go bold since you might have a lot of pastels for Lucy... and of COURSE I had to order from Lucy's Hope Chest when I realized the name connection! :LOL Ok, and I got your box o goodies, too. WOW. Thank you so much. I think we have the same taste in books. :nod I'm so excited! I'm already devouring two of them and the chocolate is GONE and the yummy massage oil is divine! Everything was just so nice. Thank you so much. You are so so so kind!
