Can we have a names thread? I have terrible insomnia and this is what I obsess about late at night! Dh didn't like Gracelynn and, although I love the meaning, I think Hope is too plain and Grace possibly too popular (I already have a Hannah and we deal with that all the time!). We have Sky and now Josephine (I love it) so Sky Josephine is on the list, as is Josephine Grace. I also love Nadia - and it means hope! Anyone else thinking of names? Want to share?

Sorry you had insomnia...hope you eventually got some sleep!
We always have SUCH a hard time deciding on names...until this time! With my first ds we didn't have a boy name picked out until month 8, though we had a girl's name before we conceived. Last time it took us halfway through to get a girl's name and at 38 weeks we scrapped our boy's name and started over. This time it seems we are pretty much decided, and have been since July! Though it's never done til it's *done*.
Anyway, we are likely going with Gretchen Blythe for a girl. A boy will likely be Archer. Not certain on a middle name but so far we are considering Archer Conrad and Archer Haithcock (both family names).
So far only ONE person in real life likes Archer. I think everyone worries we'd call him "Archie", which we would not.
Oh...our boys are Aidan Gardner and Emerson Reid. Had they been girls they would have been Camille Winter and Eliza Faith.

5xMom, I really like both Josephine and Nadia. For some reason the Hope/Sky/Grace "noun names" all sound very trendy to me. Not that trendy is a bad thing! That's just my association. Josephine and Nadia seem more timeless and have more depth. I know that Grace is currently the most popular middle name for girls. But maybe I'm biased toward three-syllable names because mine has three syllables!
citizenfong, I really like the names you've picked too. Gretchen is awesome (though I also like Camille...no chance you'll recycle it?). I actually like Archer too. It's an occupation name, which I usually don't like, but it's underused and sounds nice with your other boys' names.
As for our name hunt, we couldn't decide on a boy name at all. Luckily we found out we're having a girl so we didn't have to agonize over that decision. We're naming her Jane Elizabeth. Jane because it's feminine without being frilly and uncommon without being weird. Elizabeth is my mom's middle. I always thought I'd pick a quirkier name for my child, but for some reason this is what works.

Don't know the sex YET but I am thinking Millicent Ruth for girl. Can't remember the last boy name we discussed right now! :LOL . Does that name suck? My gma is Mildred and everyone called her Millie I thought we could do the same for baby...I know my gma does not like the name Mildred. But I like Millie way less trendy than Madeline which was our girl name for the first decade of trying to have kids... :D Ruth is my moms name and will go with any girl name we choose.

I love thinking about names! If it's a girl, she'll be Ella Clare and if it's a boy he'll probably be either Oliver Benjamin or Benjamin Oliver. DH and I don't quite agree on that one yet. :) I think Millie is cute... Millicent--I've never heard that! I like it, though.

Oh, I love thinking baby names. It is very hard for us because dh and I are both very set in what we like and dislike, and have differing tastes when it comes to just about everything! We're having an easier time this pg than last one, though!
For a boy:
Tobin Shane
Tobin Wallace
For a girl:
Lauren Elizabeth
Marnie Elizabeth
So far. Obviously, boy's first or girl's middle is decided, but boy's middle and girl's first are still being discussed.

I don't like Millicent that much but I like Millie, so as long as you called her by the nickname I think it's good. I love the name Molly, but it's apparently becoming way popular, which I have issues with (I grew up with a super-popular name, so I changed to using my middle name when I was seven b/c I was tired of always being one of multiple people with my name in any group).
I like the idea of using traditional family names, it gives a name so much meaning. We are going to try to work something from my grandmother's name in somehow this time.
We haven't done a whole lot of narrowing down b/c last time we did that and ended up not thinking anything on our short list matched DD. So we started all over. So this time I'm going to have much longer lists, not narrowed down. Some faves right now are Oliver (Ollie), Callum, Finnegan (Finn) or Eamon (pronounced Aim-un) for a boy. For girls there are a lot more I like and it changes frequently. A few possibilities are Ava, Colleen, Meredith, Lily, etc. I just don't have a strong feeling about any one name, plus I need to see the kid before choosing. I almost felt like DD "chose" her own name, b/c we had to do a lot of work before we got to the one that felt really right when we looked at her (took 3 days). And since I'm not finding out the gender, I get to keep playing the name game with my DH for boys and girls, randomly calling out "What do you think about Phineas? How about Lucy?" :nut It's a pretty stressful thing, picking a name someone's got to live with for the rest of their lives (unless they up and change it at 7 like me, LOL).

I think we've settled on Josephine Sky :thumb for now! Funny - I hated my name growing up but as an adult I like it. I remember wanting to be Jennifer - that was the popular name then. I have 2 children that go by their middle names (but I love their full names too) and one that has a nickname as a full name. They all seem to like their names - even my teen, who has an unusual name (Elijah - getting more common now but not 15 years ago!).

We have decided on our names. I am convinced this ones a girl and if it is she will be Eliana Eva Grace. If its a boy he will be Asher John Bronson. Everyone is freaking out about Asher, they think he'll get called Ash-hole. People can tease any name (my name is Shawna but I got Shawna Iguana and my maiden name is Brown and I got called Brown cow.).

We are undecided. We have a strong candidate for a girl's first name but have nothing else....
We are all over the MAP on the boys name. Have a few I really like and one thing that drives ME NUTS is my mil and dh's insistence that if we used Clark, that we'd have to spell it as their family does, Clarke. I like it as a boys first name but I WILL NOT have Clarke as the spelling. It doesn't look right and he'll spend his LIFE telling them "no, that's Clarke with an 'e' " which is lame when its such a straightforward name.
I am thinking they either let me drop the 'e' or I drop the name...we'll see.
my brother's name is Clark (no 'e'). It is a family name, but the E was dropped.
If you like it, go for it, without the E. :)

Momma Andi you are the first person to have the same girls name picked out as me. :LOL
When iwas pregnant with my first DS we didn't know the sex so we had Zoe picked out and if he was a boy he was going to have the middle name Arnold after my FIL.He is Sean Arnold.
My second DS is Evan Alexander.Alexander is a family name from my side of the family.
I'm pretty sure that this one is a girl so I finally get my Zoe. :p Her middle name DH picked out, it will be Maricella.
Its been so much fun trying to pick out names. OUr remaining boy names are Dominic and Javier.

Names...funny I was one of those babies who went home with no name and was unnamed for a week. I understand how hard it can be to name a baby!!! Especially before you really get to know his/her personality and appearance.
I have chosen a name I have stuck with for awhile now. I've really only chosen a girl name because I decided that I get to name a girl (within reason :)) and my mate, Matt, gets to name a boy. I really don't think I'll have a boy, though. I have chosen Isis. I am still stuck on the middle name. It will either be Star or Estrella...or Stella.
WE have tossed around boy names and Matt really likes Tree, River...most recently he came across Zebulum (Zeb for short). Boy names are much more difficult, I believe.
I like the unusual names (as you may all see :)) because I want my child to have a name that is unique. Also, I am an unusual person with unusual tastes :)

We're having a tough time agreeing on a boys name. We had a much easier time finding a name for dd. Both dh and I have one brother named Adam, so we want to use that for the middle name. My favorite name right now is Henry Adam M--. Dh likes Silas Adam M--. He's very attached to Silas, but I don't know if I'm loving it. Especially combined with Adam and our last name (2 syllables, starts with an M).
If this baby had been a girl she would have been Phoebe Cordelia.

I love the name Zoe, my dd is named Zoe Bliss.
For this baby we are thinking Rhys (Family name) as a boy's first or girl's middle, and maybe Winter as a girl's first.
I'm still waiting for inspiration, with dd I knew her name with certainty. I do feel really drawn to Winter, but dh is unsure.
