I really liked the "What to expect when you're expecting book" I don't know what the concesus is, but I always wanted to know "About how big is she now" "What's forming?' etc. It was fun to look before our appointments and to see "Oh her fingernails formed etc"
The other thing I did was to subscribe to the babycenter site and get the email updates. Not advocating what they say or their methods, but if you take everything with a grain of salt and only take the information you need/want out of it, it's a fine site/email list.
I'm sure there are much better books, but this is the one I kept up with.

Be Prepared: A Practical Handbook for new dads. My husband loved it, I did too.

That's the one my DH loves!!! It is also pretty pro-breastfeeding. It is very funny, but extremely informative.
The Baby Owner's Manual was okay, but DH didn't like it as much. He thought it tried to hard to be neutral on circ and bfing.

Be Prepared is a great book, very informative and amusing. The Owner's Maual wasn't as funny as the title suggested, and they tried so hard to be neutral that they frustrated me.
We read Your pregnancy week by week together, and that's fun, but it's filled with negativity in the notes. A lot of baby books leave you with the impression that healthy babies are the exception rather than the rule.
I bought Discipline without shouting or spanking because it's got a cute kid on the cover, and because I don't want to hit or yell. Haven't read any of it though. :)
Maybe when he's born.

I really didnt have a favorite. I just tried to gather info from just about every source i could. One book i really did enjoy was " The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy". It is really geard towards the mother but i found it addictivly interesting.

Hands down, 'Be Prepared' is the best one out there! Funny, practical man's man advice. :thumb
Unfortunately we found out about this book after our twins turned 1, but have been giving it to new dads ever since.
