Was it for weeks or months or did you have a surge of energy for cleaning just hours before you went into labor?

not really. I did have this tendency to sew a lot more than is usual for me at the end of both of my pregnancies.

For the last month or so, I throw things away. I find this need to make my life as simple as possible. From the kitchen (a family of 4+baby only needs a place setting of 6-8 right?), to the closets (just how many shirts do 5 year old boys need?), to the bathrooms (anything past the expiration or not used in months goes). I also try not to collect baby junk during my pregnancy, because I know I won't need much more then diapers, clothes, and a sling. All the rest of it is just more stuff I have to take care of. And dh is a collector so I'll often find 20 plates or boxes of stuff that no one has hardly even looked at.

But not right before I go into labor.

Nope, never. I was WAY too tired and anything/everything was a chore. I never felt good or energetic the whole pregnancy.

But, I sure did nest several months post partum!!! It's like it all caught up then.

OH that is funny... my DH did too... his nesting consisted of changing the furnace and hot water heater BY HIMSELF! HAHAHAHAHA This was at the end of October right before I was due. We live in Michigan and I think he was worried about us not being warm/having warm water after Will was born!

With my first, I nested for about three weeks before he was born, maybe longer, then I stopped for a few days and he arrived. With my 2nd, I nested a for a short while a few months before he was born then again for the week or two before I went into labor. I nested to distract myself during the 12 days of labor I had. I'm pregnant with #3 rightnow and I've already been nesting off and on, but not hardcore nesting, though I can already feel itbuilding. I feel October to be a nesting month :)

With ds, I started 'nesting' around 34 weeks. Three days before he was born, though, I did some emotional work that could be considered nesting, if that makes any sense. :)

With dd, I definitely nested right before labor - spent hte day cleaning, returning books to the library, and so on.

OT: Patchfire -- I've seen your signature before but it just now hit me...your little Gillian nursed til she was 5!? That's pretty cool!

With all but the youngest, I was too tired to do much of anything but sleep on the couch. Plus, it was July in Miami, too hot to do anything. I painted my entire house 2 days before Clarissa was born. I re-arranged furniture a LOT with six of them. I did laundry obsessively, and went to the grocery store almost every day to make sure there was enough food in the house. I used to fold the baby clothes and diapers several times a day, but that was just an excuse to play with them, hehe.

I have been slowly getting into nesting over the past few weeks. It started with the monthly deep clean I do. It was er, deeper than normal. And I felt the need to keep it up longer than normal. And then I started taking care of little things that had been bugging me for months that I'd been putting off. I can only see it getting bigger in the coming months. :)

With dd I did. I cleaned everything! The house was spotless, I even cleaned the bathroom with q-tips. The compulsive cleaning started around Feb. and I was due in April.
With ds I was too tired to even think about it. :LOL

I nested like crazy with all three, for 1-2 months before due, but not in the day or so before.

:LOL About a 3 weeks-month before having my DD I went nuts in her room, making lists about everything we still needed, cleaning, etc... I went on many midnight shopping trips for blankets because I was obsessed about having a certain number of blankets in each room of the house... :crazy who knows why!

I've been insane this pregnancy.

I've remodeled the kitchen, changed furniture and rearranged the living room, started work on both bathrooms...pretty much our house is unrecognizable! :LOL

My husband is beginning to groan when I say, "Honey...."

I was really bad with my first. I pulled the fridge out and cleaned behind it and IRONED the receiving blankets organized by color/pattern I was a bit nuts o LOL It wasnt that way with any of the others.

Nope, I kept waiting for the nesting instinct to kick in. Never did. I did get extremely snappish and irritable the last 3 weeks or so before she was born. That's as close to nesting as I got.
