View Full Version : Nap time problems

DS's are 3 & 16 mos, and I'm very early pg with #3. I can not for the life of me get them to nap anymore. I have very little energy right now, so I can't mannage an hour long struggle to get them both to sleep. Usually the little one falls asleep and the older one fights it and then crashes later at 4pm!

I've found that if they both fall asleep before 1pm, it's a good time for them & they still go to bed decently at night. Later than that and it sucks. 3 yo fights naps all the time, unless we're inthe car, but I refuse to drive around wasting gas all the time.

Friends at church suggested mandatory quiet time in his room, but he honestly still needs the nap or he's a meanie weanie. Plus most of our churrch frriends did sleep training - CIO, so I'm not really on the same page as them. But it's tempting to use their methods since their kids nap on time within 5-10 minutes of going to their room, which sounds like a heavenly nap for me also. But I couldn't do CIO.

How on earth can I get them back to napping at the same time without a huge fight or massive effort on my part. Usually they get me so upset & exhausted that I just give up after an hour plus of trying for naps.

I need help, things will only get worse as #3 comes for naptime. :(

Stressed out...

:hug Man, that does sound stressful! Is it possible for you to lay down together in your bed? This is what I did when dd2 was born and dd1 was still taking naps...would it be possible for you to lay in the middle with a kid on each side and either sneak out or take a nap yourself?

Good luck!
