Our December is going to be reeeeally busy (holidays, I have finals, DH is graduating, my mom is turning 50...) and so I'm trying to get as much done now as possible.

Is it too early to wash newborn clothes if they're going to sit in a dresser for the next 3.5 months? I'm wondering about dust mostly.

I would think they'd be fine if they're in drawers. Besides, you can always do it now and then do it again later if you feel like it. I love washing those teeny tiny things!

No, not too early. Do it while you have the energy and still feel pretty good. December will be crazy...and you never know, the babe could come early. I was sooo prepared as a first-time mom to go late. I thought I had another month to go, when my water broke at 37 weeks. We had only just that weekend organized the nursery with clothes in drawers, diapers and wipes ready, etc., but not even remotely thinking we were going to meet our baby so soon. And we did not have our car seat installed in the car yet, but at least we had one :LOL. DH threw it in the back seat before we went to the birth center. He later had to go out and install it before we could take our baby home!

I am going to wash all our hand-me-downs from Julian and friends, but I'm not taking the tags off of any new stuff until I make sure it'll fit- I expect a big baby. I think washing now would be fine, in fact I'll probably start washing stuff when we get our "new" dresser in the kids room. For now, all the baby stuff is in the closet in plastic bags, sizes 0-2T all mixed together. I have never known stuff in drawers to get dusty.

I have already washed and hung/ put away everything! I am painting the dresser, though, so I may have to take out and rewash stuff.

Uh....I have no idea. I feel nesting energies coming on in Octobe rthough so I betcha I'llbe washing clothesin October. I'll probably put them in a plastic tub (that's where they arenow anyway) Or I'll slack off and not do it til oh say March;)

Popping in from Feb board...I think it's fine to go ahead and wash clothes now - if they are kept in a clean drawer or closet they should stay clean. However, I wouldn't take off the tags and wash tons of new outfits just yet...for one thing, just on the chance that the sex is opposite of what you are expecting (it does happen!) and also you never know just how big the baby will be - you might wash a bunch of 0-3 month clothes and end up with a 10 lb baby who can only wear them for 2 weeks, and you would have been better off being able to exchange the tiny clothes for larger sizes!

This is what I was thinking. We didn't know DD was a girl so everything in 0-3 is neutral. That's the stuff I want to play with, er, uh, I mean "prepare." :D We don't have anything NWT for this one yet.

Thanks, everyone!

Can you believe that we're talking clothes and nurseries? It seems like yesterday we were comparing HPTs!!!

I've already washed everything I've bought so far and put it into storage bags. I have to wash stuff right away because I'm allergic to all the sizing and "store" scents that seem to permeate new clothing.

I have started organizing the baby's dresser, but I'm not going to wash anything til much closer to January. I just wouldn't feel like they were clean if they had been sitting for three months.

Peeking in from Nov/Dec boards...I guess if it's not too early for all of you then it's not too early for me. I've been putting it off, even though I've been nesting like crazy this past week. I REALLY have this urge to wash all the baby clothes/diapers, but I don't want to get ahead of myself. I remeber washing and rewashing (though only 2 times) Ds's clothes, and folding them and refolding them. It was so fun, but it made me want him to be born way too soon.

With Dd we weren't at all prepared. She was born at 36 weeks (water broke early), and we had NOTHING ready. Hadn't even had the baby shower yet. In fact the shower was the 18th of Feb and she was born the 16th of Feb. It was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hard leaving her at the hospital (she was in the NICU for breathing problems/jaundice/not eating well, but she was stable, nothing life threatening) for the shower, but I was only gone for about 2 hrs until I was like, I can't do this, I need to be with my baby. When we brought her home 4 days after the birth our living room was filled with baby stuff, unopened and unwashed.

I say go for it! I must confess, everything I have - both boy AND girl stuff (I've been buying girl stuff at rummage sales, etc., totally expecting to have a girl this time) and a good portion of ds's stuff was saved - those are clean in larger storage buckets - labeled on the outside. Even the girl stuff I picked up at rummage sales has been laundered, stains removed (if possible) and stored in those storage buckets, so we're as ready as we're going to be. Right now, we're working on renovations - making our bedrooms actual living quarters - we have a very old house - fixer upper, so I have a goal to have our 3 bedrooms usable by December. We JUST finished ds's room this weekend - (just need to do a teeny bit of floor paint touch up where we scuffed it moving the furniture in) and ds moved in last night. I finished emptying out the second bedroom (soon to be our master bedroom) so that next week I can start prepping the walls, ceiling and floor for replastering, ceiling repairs, and floor repairs.

I think it's safe to say I'm nesting. . .. .LOL

I didn't feel like this with ds - which explains why his room is just now getting done - and he's 18 months old. *grin*

Have a great night, ya'll!
