View Full Version : Wearing wrap harmful to pregnancy?

I had a miscarriage at 12 wks. over Labor Day weekend (my first miscarriage), and have been thinking and thinking about the possiblity that wearing my one year old in a wrap (worn tightly around my waist/hips like a Moby or an Ellaroo) may have caused some harm...? I put my dd in the wrap to help her fall asleep for 2 naps/day plus night time. I tied it snuggly around my waist. Every time I wore it I was thinking, *I hope this is ok for the baby* and wishing there was some other way to put my dd to sleep. I even read the No Cry Sleep Solution to find ways to change her sleep associations, but in the end, kept using the wrap. Anybody with thoughts on this? I don't plan on ttc for a while...dh isn't ready for it and I think I'd rather wait until she's out of the wrap-to-sleep habit and nursing less at night. But anyway, just curious if any of you know whether wearing something kind of tight like that is bad.
Thanks

Awww, sweetie...I don't think the wrap did anything to cause your loss. At 12 weeks, the baby is still tiny and behind the pubic bone and is protected by your fluid. You didn't cause the loss... :hug99 I am so sorry for your loss...

I am sorry about the loss of your baby. Like pp I dont think the wrap had anything to do with it. God designed the female body to be pretty protective of unborns and for all of time women have carried their babies in one way or another. Hope you feel better :hug

Thanks AllyRae and JBaxter. I don't really feel guilty about it, but was curious about whether anyone knew of any reasons not to wear your baby while pregnant. Thank you for your thoughts.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Nothing you did could have caused a m/c. Like the pps said, the fetus is well protected inside of your body and baby wearing can't change that.

I'm sorry for your loss. You can't play the *what-if* game it will drive you nuts. I remember reading awhile ago "if ((blank)) caused miscarriages, then everyone who didn't want to be pregnant would be doing it"
take care of yourself and enjoy carrying your DD, she will grow out of it too soon
