View Full Version : What is wrong with me?

I got a decent night's sleep - over 7 hours last night! - but I've been exhausted and ill all day. I've napped on and off since 9am, DH has been a dear and helped me by bringing me food (little sandwiches and stuff - I'm not hungry but I get nauseated if I don't eat a little something every couple hours), I'm alternatly freezing and burning up, and at times even my hands are shaky. I just feel totally out of it. DS seems fine - he's running around and playing while I lay on the couch, but he's had diarhea today.

Do we have a bug? Is the baby having a major growth spurt and sucking the life out of me? Did eating a whole pint of Ben and Jerry's last night really make me this sick? (I haven't done that in years, and felt pretty sick right afterward.)

Sounds like you are coming down with something. Take good care of yourself...and call your care provider if you don't feel better really soon.

It's hard to know these days. I had a really bad day on Monday; I was really nauseated and tired, and every smell in my house made me want to hurl. I couldn't decide if I was coming down with something, so I just slept all day and felt better. It was just like being back in the first trimester again!

Feel better soon, whatever it is!

Holy crap! It is just like the first trimester again! That's exactly how I feel! Now I'm really hoping its the flu and not a return of morning sickness. When my m/s continued to week 16, my mw said that in her experience if you have it that long at the beginning it often comes back the last couple months. Ugh...

I've totally been having 1st trimester deja vu lately, too. On & off extreme fatigue, nausea, & just feeling weird & not right. Some days I'm convinced I must have anemia AND the flu or something. :LOL But really, I think we're all just having our energy sucked out of us by our big 3rd trimester babies.

If it is a cold you're coming down with I hope it works its way OUT of your body FAST!

By the way, if I only got 7 hours of sleep in one night, I'd be miserable! :p I need *at least* 9 hours every single night, even when I'm NOT pg! Nine hours plus a 2 hour nap is what makes my body energetic. :nut

Yep -- I get 8 hours a night and take a 2-hour nap most days from 1 to 3 p.m. I just found out my iron is just slightly low, so I think in my case that might be a contributing factor, but overall I've noticed more yuck feelings lately and definitely a lowered energy level. Along with the increased frequency of hunger attacks and the crazy movement I've been getting, I'm thinking baby growth spurt, too...

:hug I don't have the nausea but I certainly have been exhausted lately. Small little things like putting a few things away can knock me out and I am back lying down again or resting. Can be very frustrating!! It does sound like you may be coming down with something though with the hot and cold flashes -- take care of yourself and try to get some rest!! Might not hurt to call the mw and see what she recommends. HOpe you are feeling better soon!

Wow - 9 hours of sleep a night! I should be getting that, I guess... I've never needed much sleep, though, so 7 hours is above average for me. In college I regularly got 4-5 a night and that was plenty. Since having DS I usually manage fine on 6 or so, and occasionally take a nap with him.

Interesting fact: my sister is epileptic and if she gets less than 8 hours a night minimum for any period of time she has a seizure. If she tries to pull an all-nighter its a guarantee that she'll have a seizure that day. (She found that out the hard way in college.) My parents said even when we were babies that I never needed as much sleep as other kids, and my sister slept all the time!

Wow...I am right there with you.

I felt like I never woke up today b/c I was so sleepy all day long after getting 7.5 hours of night sleep! Dog woke me at 7:30am to take him out, went back to bed until 9:30am. But had the HARDEST time actually shaking the morning fog I was in! Then, I needed a nap but tried to avoid actually taking one so I slept for maybe 20-30 minutes on the couch later this afternoon.

I am getting over a head cold though. It really hit me on Sunday but was pretty much gone by Wed. and I don't take meds/drugs. Hope that you are better tomorrow but good for you for listening to your bod and taking it easy.

Are you feeling better QoC?

I've started with the headaches again. I was so happy to be free of them during the second trimester, but it looks like they are back. I had one from Friday night until Sunday early morning when I finally gave in and took a Tylenol. I had been practicing my anesthesia techniques from Hypnobabies, which did help for short periods of time, but it kept coming back.

At this point I'd have to say, yeah, I'm ready to not feel exhausted and crappy all the time.

Queen of Cups- I hope you are feeling better. It sounds like 3rd trimester fatigue, and probably also a virus of some sort.

I completely agree with all of you about being exhausted. It's not easy being pregnant and chasing after a hyper 2 year old either. I sleep 9 hours every night and try to nap for 1-2 hours during the day. I can't really fall asleep, so I just lay there in bed. I encourage you all to rest as much as possible NOW, while you still can! Because here come the sleepless nights.

I too am also having a bit of nausea on and off. So it is reassuring to hear that it is pretty normal, but not plesant.

I am feeling a lot better - I think you're exactly right AmyGirl28, 3rd tri fatigue and a virus. I felt better on Saturday, but DS was running a slight fever and wasn't feeling good.

I really, really need to work on getting more sleep at night. I only got 5.5 hours last night and I know that's not enough to feel my best on when I'm hugely pregnant and nursing a toddler. This darn nesting is driving me nuts, though, every minute DS is asleep I feel like I should be doing housework or sewing things.

Thanks for checking in ladies - I feel so loved! :throb

Are you sleeping well at night? If not - 8 hours of sleep could still not be worth much if you spend every hour on the hour waking up with acid reflux or having to go potty.

I'm tired all the time too, and I'm not sleeping well at all.

Sleep. I remember that. Between heartburn at night, not being able to get comfortable, thinking about all the things I need to do and the added pleasure of Sam having a bad cold and not being able to sleep well, I seem to have sort of given up on sleep. So I'm with you all.

Hope everyone is feeling better and that no one gets any colds or viruses.
