Help, I can't find my manual and I want to double check the weight limits for rear facing on the Roundabout. My dd is 24 lbs at 13 months and I am not going to turn her around yet, even if it means buying a new carseat. Anyone have those wieght limits at hand?
Thanks!

I have been pondering the Swedish lately. They have their up to 3 yos rear facing, and I was wondering how. So I looked up the Britax swedish website and low and behold found out how they do it! There is this system for pushing the car seat further from the back of the car's seat. Take a look, its interesting. Britax swedish (http://www.britax.se/meny1Frame-1.html) There is one seat that has a holder thingy on the bottom thats the one to look at.

Thanks for the info. My dh likes having ds rear facing, and now we can do it with out crunching his legs! :thumb

My DS rode RF in his Britax seat until a month before his fourth birthday. He simply crossed his legs, or draped them over the sides of the car seat or put them on top of the Captains seat in the van.
Here's a photo of him from the CPSafey extended RF album:

Oooppss, meant to hit "quick reply" not quote :o
Anyway, I'm confused, b/c me roundabout has a sticker on it saying "Warning, may cause injury or death to ride rear facing over 22lbs." Britax online says the Roundaboue is RF from 5-33lbs. So :scratch
Anyhow, I'm going out tomorrow to get a Wizard for her, since I think that can rf 'til 33lbs. Any advice on which britax i should get to rf longer? DD is 22lbs+ right now.

It sounds like you have a very old Roundabout. What's the date of manufacture on it? Did you know that they "expire" after 6 years?
Britax re-certified their seats to 33 lbs several years ago without any changes, so provided your seat isn't passed it's expiry date, it is fine to use to 33lbs.
All the current Britax seats have a rf limit of 33 lbs, so which one you go for depends on your budget and if there is a particular cover you just have to get. The Wizards are on close-out right now, and albeebaby.com has them for $199 free shipping which is a great deal. Here's the direct link: http://www.specialtybaby.com/brwicoca.html.
What a car seat nerd I am. :D

I bought it new in the spring of 2004, on-line, it was a closeout, so I suppose the date of manufacture could be past the 6 year mark :irked: Headed out with a flashlight to look.
Heading over to that site right now. Why is the Wizard on closeout? Just the fabric ? That was supposedly why my roundabout was on close out.
Ds's seat is close to the 5 year mark, and so we'll be getting him the Recaro Young Sport you recommended. Weren't planning on dropping over $400 on carseats this fall, but I won't cut corners on those!
Thanks!

Date of manufacture is Fall 03, do you know when they re-certified their seats and why mine would have the 22lb turn around sticker on it?
Thanks!

That is odd because it shouldn't be that old at all. Does it have LATCH? If it does then it will most certainly be a 33 lb RF certified seat, so why would it have that sticker on it?
The Wizard has been discontinued and is now replaced by the Boulevard. Basically the head wings have been redesigned, they are wider apart and not angled anymore, and the Boulevard has an infant insert cushion. Different fabrics too. It is also almost $100 more than the discounted Wizards. I wouldn't worry about a close-out Wizard being "old", and Albeebaby is a very reputable retailer, its a B&M store in NY.
If you Roundabout is a new(ish) seat ie 2003/4 I would call Britax and ask them whatzup.

We cross posted. I have no idea why it would have that sticker. I would call Britax. I am also going to ask around some fellow car seat nerds and see if they have an explanation.
I'll get back to you....

Called Britax and the tech had me read the sticker to him, he says I am just misinterpreting it and hat the Rounadbout manufactured in fall 03 are indeed certified to rear face to 33lbs. Sorry for typos, have two kids and a dog helping this morning! Apparently the sticker just means tat she MUST rear face until 22 lbs and he actually recommened that all chidlren rear face as long as possib;e, which gives me a little more faith in his reassurances.
Thanks!

First of all phew! I did ask around and no one could understand why your RA would have that sticker. Mommy brain strikes again (no offense intended). :bouncy
BTW, did a post a cheap(er) place to get Recaros, I can't remember. Anyway, here is a site that actually sells them wholesale, so on the Young Sport I think you would save around $50. http://www.recarodealer.com/ the code is "SHOW". Several people I know have ordered from this site successfully.

No offense taken! Just relieved that she's been safe all along in the Roundabout and theat we can rear-face for another 10lbs !
Thansk for the info on the recaro site, I'll use it! Ds is excited, the seat looks very grown up and they have one that is the same color as our car's seat, so it's a good solution for a petite boy.
Thanks for all your help! :flipped
