Whenever I squat down, my right leg goes numb. Weird. For about the past two weeks or so... I am not going with the "Dick Cheney Leg Aneuyrism" explanation because I am not a elderly man with a history of circulation problems nor have I been on any DVT-causing long-haul flights recently. That, I accomplished back in April.

However, being the information-seeking hypochondriac that I am...I'd feel most reassured if others had the same issue that resolved itself quickly after birth.

Perhaps my body is saying, "hey dummy, don't squat down like that, even if you are playing with a baby or looking at the bottom shelf at the library." But how else can I look at the books on circulation problems???

:p

Hmm. My first thought is that you're compressing a nerve when you squat down. Do you have a chiropractor? That's the first place I'd go.

I am thinking it is the sciatica--and I ditto the chiaroprator

Excellent! Good suggestions. I'm going tomorrow...I'll be sure to bring it up. My right side is the side that gives me a little more trouble in general lately ...i.e. hip pain. I never brought it up with the midwife (busy appt) last time, and I'm not sure how much she could do anyhow...

FSM-I know how you feel. I'm 36 weeks now and since about 30 my right leg has been going numb when I stand up too fast or walk to far. Everyone tells me baby is crunching some vital nerve. I had chiropracters recommended, but I can't find one that accepts medicaid. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know-there's probably no gigantoid blood clot attempting to claim your leg!! :p

Ditto on the sciatica and chiropractor. My left calf and foot have been numb since mid April. I agravated my sciatic nerve and disc on the tread mill and have been paying the price ever since. I have been seeing a chiropractor to ease the compression in my back and to adjust everything. i have also seen a pain management specialist to help the back. I had two rounds of cortizone injections, which unfortunatley did not help. As the baby gets bigger, the more pressure on my disk, so hense more numbness. All of us are hopeing this will clear up after my little one is born. If not, back for lots more adjustments and injections . . . :(

I would agree that it sounds neurological. I had sciatic problems in my last pregnancy and it affected my legs as well. My FIL used to get blood clots and they were extremely painful but beyond that, I don't know much more about what it feels like.

What's that you say - Neurological? Brain Tumor? Wha? Neurotic? Yes, for sure.

Ha ha. Ahem. Such is the state of my mind.

I will consult with the chiro tomorrow and see what she says and will relay the news. I go once a month throughout, it has been very helpful. I wish I could crack my own spine like that. Could we invent a machine, perhaps? Sort of like a self-tanning bed but for chiropractic?
