I have been bfing for her whole little life (11months now) at night. she seems to need to eat every half hour or so at nite and i feel as though my body is going to fall apart :( its mainly that i have a terrably uncomfortable bed, and in order to feed her i need to turn at a weird angle that ends up causing horrible hip pain in the morning.
I have agreed with all the info on cosleeping but she won't let me just lay her down next to me and sleep all night. I have to hold her and feed her constantly. On top of that, being a single mom it would be nice if she could sleep at her dad's house overnite. She is comfortable with him but he has no boobie so that isn't going to work.
any suggestions?

No good answers for you, but I feel your pain!! I've been thinking I may need a hip replacement soon. Always lying on my sides at night to nurse too! I've been thinking of trying to get DS off the boob so much at night. He used to eat 2x overnight for many months, now the last month or two he is increasing to about 4 "meals" and many, many "snacks" for comfort. I don't mind the comfort sucking so much, but after a while it turns to chewing which ain't so comfy!! Sorry to go off on a tangent there...

Have you been putting a pillow between your knees when you nurse. It really takes the pressure off my hips.

I know what you mean about the pain in your hips. My DS nurses frequently at night too. I usually switch between two night nursing positions, one on my side, and the other, on my back with my arm under his head. He can nurse that way, I've gotten used to the slightly stretchy feeling of him nursing with both of us on our backs and his head turned toward me. It really helps to break up the night by turning back and forth between positions. When I go to my back, I put my hand under his head and lift it up, and slip my other arm under his head, then he settles right into the little nest of my arm and armpit, latches on, and keeps on sleeping. I'm right now PG with #2 and am worried about comfort nursing DS in the bed when I can no longer lie on my back. But it will work out!
Good luck! Marian

thanks for the suggestions gals...i gave my little one a big bowl of cereal before bed last nite and tonite and she bearly moved a muscle all nite long! :) :) :) so i think that filling her up with other foods during the day besides bm helps nites go more smoothly. I guess I never really thought too much on giving her meals (i know she is 11 months old now) so it is about time that she eats other stuff. HTH anyone. next is a new mattress!

Wow, I'm glad the cereal thing worked for you, but I'm surprised...I'd always thought other foods were more difficult for them to digest and therefore would keep them up at night. Anyone else find that more food besides bm at night helps dc to sleep better???? I am also struggling with body pains and tiredness due to constant nursing at night, so I'm wondering if I should try feeding her more at night rather than less, which is what I've been doing with my 13mo. old so far.

I know how you guys feel! My little man was awake 6 times last night to nurse....he is 5 months old now and I am trying him on some organic brown rice cereal in the evenings after my dinner time just to see if it will cut down my nighttime feedings. I know being up in the middle of the night is to be expected but after 6 20 minute feedings the amount of sleep I seem to get is minimal.

I have yet to find food helping with sleeping longer...I still nurse a lot at night, about every two hours and sometimes up to four hours...I flip sides so my hips are a bit less sore but I too am dealing with hip pain...
Maya is 8 months...
