Okay, so, last week I went to my doc and was informed that I was 4 cm dialated, baby was at -1 station almost to zero, and I'm almost completely effaced. She gave me the "you have a 65% chance of going into labor this week" before giving me the standard list of things to call her for.

The next night, I woke up for my normal two hour potty break, and noticed that my lower back side was soaked, and that the pillows were also pretty damp. I didn't think anything of it, because I thought that it was sweat. It wasn't on the front side, nor was the pillow that I had between my legs towards the front wet. I do believe that it was slightly damp, but certainly nowhere near the back side.
Anyway, since then, the amount of discharge that I've had has dramatically decreased. I went from having it all day every day and wearing pads for it, to only seeing it occasionally throughout the day.
I still wear the pads, and still find myself changing them everyday (they are pads, not panti liners), but with no dischargy stuff in them. They are wet, but not soaked. However, tonight I got suspicious and decided to check. It smelled sweet. Not like urine, not like sweat, but sweet. Also, I should note that there have been tiny little hairs on the toilet paper and on the pads in the last week. Not a lot, and at first I thought I may be shedding my pubic hairs. :LOL
However, I just did a search in the forums, and found a statement that someone made saying that if you do see those hairs, your water has indeed broken. I haven't had any regular contractions, just some BH off and on throughout the day, but I have had a lot of menstrual crampiness. Nothing regular though.

Has anyone else heard of this? Does anyone have anything to offer in regards to this? I have another doc appt the day after tomorrow, but I'm wondering now, if I should go in tomorrow instead?

By the way, I'm realizing that I am a bit of a worrywort! :LOL
I guess that's another one of the aspects of pregnancy, especially late pregnancy, eh?

Wouldn't hurt to get checked out. They can do a slide of the fluid to see if it is amniotic fluid, as well as an u/s to check your fluid levels (which would be low if you had ruptured membranes).

I would get this checked out.

drink lots of fluid...amniotic fluid does renew itself but fluid may help

If your waters have broken remember that your chances of infection increases so minimal examination in that area. Maybe confirm that's what it is and that's it.

Keep us posted!

phnx0221,

Don't sound like a worry wort at all...I felt something leak over the weekend, and when nothing happened in 12 h, went in to get checked. My NP said maybe some fluid leaked out when the baby flipped to posterior, but apparently sealed the leak b/c on exam, everything looked okay. Good for peace of mind, especially when I knew the amount of fluid (to wet a minipad) and smell was a new experience.

Yeah, I will certainly ask my doc about it tomorrow. And, the idea of no more exams would be really nice, as I'm getting a bit tired of them anyway. :LOL Besides, I've only got a couple of more weeks left anyway, what good are they really going to do me?
Except of course, this time. Thanks for your advice, I'll certainly talk with her about it.

You certainly aren't a worriwort!! I would go in to be certain about what had happened bc you just never know what the body can throw at you. Could be nothing but at least your mind will be put at ease knowing what is going on!

Let us know!!!

definitly let us know! It sounds like amniotic fluid to me...you can't mistake that sweet smell. Have you noticed any whiteish floaties?

Hmm...whitish floaties, no, I haven't had those for a while, a couple of weeks at least. I did have notice them when I was going through the quite a bit of discharge on a regular basis, but not since it's decreased. What are they a sign for?

If there are white flecks (or floaters) in the fluid, it's vernix and then you would have your diagnosis - amniotic fluid.
