i had an appointment this morning, and they were running almost an hour behind. This is very unusual for that office, even when there's a delivery (one of the reasons i left my former OB was because there was ALWAYS a 2+ hour wait, and when it was my turn to birth my daughter, that's exactly how long i had to wait for her to "do her rounds" down the hall, while my babygirl was crowning, but i was told NOT to push--that's a whole other rant though). i really wasn't annoyed, as i assumed there was a birth involved, until some mix-up with the charts caused some major embarassment; apparently the chick at the desk didn't put my chart where she was supposed to, so when the nurse called "Rachelle" i mistook it for "Michelle" and didn't think anything of it, since i'd been there forever, and the only other girl (whose name was actually "Rachel") in the waiting room had only been there about 5 minutes. Grrr i realized there was a problem when i looked at the pee cup the nurse handed me, and it had "Rachel" written on the side. It took me about 5 minutes to explain who i was, and she even started writing stuff down on the wrong chart before she caught on. Argh.
It took awhile, but eventually the nurse let me know she wasn't blaming me, because it really SHOULD have been my turn, even though it really wasnt. Oh well. She also appolgized for the wait, the Dr was in emergency. Then she hesitated for a moment, and confided in me that he was actually being treated in the ER because someone hit him (while walking) in the parking lot. They weren't telling anyone else that, haha! I guess they figured since my MIL is a surgery nurse, we'd hear about it anyway.
So yeah, my doc got hit by a car, lol, and i am evil because all i could think when i heard that was *Great, maybe he's at least got a broken arm! You can't deliver a baby with a broken arm! He'll be out for what, at least 6 weeks right? Woo hoo! I'll get whatever doc is on call!" lol. Or even better, Tom the nurse-dude. They sometimes deliver babies, right? He does most of my exams, so i can at least hope!*
