I'm looking for books to read to DS (5 yo) that will depict my birthing time accurately (or close). Spark, you mentioned Welcome with Love...what is that about? What is the theme?
Anyone else have books they love reading to their older kids about becoming a big brother/sister, or birth?

I love love love the book On the Day You Were Born by Debra Frasier. It's not 'about birth' so much but it's a wonderful story of the world welcoming a new baby.
I also like The Night You Were Born by Wendy McCormick. The birth in the story takes place in a hospital but it's a good, peacful story about waiting for baby.
My ds loves The New Baby by Mercer Mayer - you know the little critter stories.
We also have When You Were Inside Mommy by Joanna Cole and What to Expect When Mommy's Having a Baby by Heidi Murkoff (yes, of What to Expect When You're Expecting infamy) but it;s actually not bad at all.
And I love Welcome With Love too.
In all of them that mention hospital, we change it to home, and when they say doctor we change it to midwife - since that's what works for us. Ds isn't old enough to know if we're changing words or not so we can make it fit our life, you know?

ok - three more (we're really into books)
Waiting for the Sun by Alison Lohans
Runa's Birth by Uwe Spillman
All the Places to Love by Patricia MacLachlan
All three are about homebirths.

Dr. Sears writes one too called Baby on the way (http://tinyurl.com/cyf6c). It shows them going to a birth center. My DD loves the picture of the baby curled up inside the mama's "baby holder", i.e., uterus.

we got we have a baby (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0395739705/qid=1127964775/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/102-1214818-6168924?v=glance&s=books&n=507846) for k and though she's a little young, she really liked it. it's a simply told story with an interracial family, plus has mama nursing and shows the babes sleeping together at the end. so sweet. :throb
