View Full Version : Burlington and Middlebury areas?
We are considering moving to Vermont and I would really appreciate any info about the Burlington and Middlebury areas! Anyone here live around there? What is the homeschooling environment like? Cost of living? Jobs? AP-alternative-holistic living environment? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Kelly-
We live in Orwell, Vt just south of Middlebury. We do most of our shopping (food coop) in Middlebury. Burlington is more progressive and more alternative options, but Vt in general is quite progressive. Where are you coming from?
Lots of homeschooler in the area, but I don't have specifics as our son is only 15 mos.
There is a real mix of AP- parenting and very conventional.
Let me know if you would like more ideas.

I live in Pittsford, VT. I am about a half-hour from Middlebury and an hour from Burlington. I think my area is pretty cool, but I think there is more stuff to do in Burlington. I am not really keen on Middlebury, though. They do have a really good discount food store that I sometimes go to, but not much stuff to do there. I would check out the areas before you move there. I would also reccommend the Rutland area. I graduated at the highschool there, and it was really nice.
