I wrote my birth plan and it feels so good to have it all done and typed up. Gonna take to my Bradley class tonight and have them look over but feel good about it.

Yikes I'm still working on my birth story from our first child(18 months ago)Plan on giving a copy of that to my Doula's and Midwives.
I guess I should start thinking about it soon...heading home for a visit to my parents next week so I guess I could do that then while they look after Hunter.
Err I know its been mentioned a billion times but where would I find a outline or ideas there are just so many things to cover I am not sure where to start.
I need to do two, one if I have the birth at the Birth Center although I am pretty sure the midwives are on board with most everything but since I have yet again a new one we are meeting next week I want to be sure they understand where I am coming from, the other in case of transfer to a hospital(really really important as I learned last time around)

GreenMommy, would you care to share your birth plan with us? I'm sure I'm not the only one interested.
I'm not really planning on writing a birth plan, but I think I should write a backup plan in case (God forbid) I have to transfer.

www.birthplan.com does it for you, and you can add your own. I'm doing mine there, and there are some good articles for writing your plan to be most effective. Once I finish mine, I'll post it. I think it's good to look at other plans for ideas and comparrisions.
:wink Good luck everyone!! :thumb

Sorry this took me so long to post:
Birth Plan
We are both excited about the birth of our second child and appreciate the thoughtful care Alicia has received from the midwives at XXX Ob-Gyn. We have chosen to have a vaginal birth after cesarean. We have been preparing for this wonderful event for some time now and have come to the understanding that labor and birth are natural processes. We look forward to having flexibility, support and positive encouragement during this amazing part of our lives. Our first priority is the health of Alicia and our child and if any complications arise we will work with our birth team to make decisions to ensure a safe, healthy birth experience.
Labor environment
- We would like to remain together during the birthing process.
- We would like to be informed of any medical procedures needing to be done prior to their administration. Example – amniotomy, episiotomy.
Early and active stage of Labor
- We would not like any medication offered, unless the baby or Alicia’s health is in danger, this includes an epidural.
- We would like the freedom of movement and to take shower or a bath. External fetal monitoring systems should be mobile to allow for movement.
- We would like for Peter to make decisions when Alicia is laboring. Please consider what we have requested on the birth plan.
- We prefer to avoid an amniotomy and internal fetal monitoring.
Second Stage of Labor
- We prefer to avoid forceps and vacuum extraction. Please discuss with us before using either.
- We would like the freedom to try pushing in different positions.
- Alicia would prefer perineal massage and to avoid an episiotomy.
After Delivery
- We would like the baby to be given to Alicia as soon as he is born. We would like the baby to be cleaned while being held by her.
- We prefer the placenta to be born naturally.
- We would prefer to have the cord cutting delayed until after it stops pulsating.
- We do not want to have eye drops administered to the baby.
- Alicia plans to breastfeed and do not wish for any formula, glucose, water or pacifiers be given to our son.
- We DO NOT want the baby circumcised.
Thank you very much for your knowledge and expertise as we welcome our child into the world.
