My son was born a few days ago on the 18th. He started developing jaundice on thursday and on friday I took him in. My last son had severe jaundice too, but, since he was born in the summer I just sat him in the sun till it was gone. Since it's winter, there is no sun.
So I let him get the heelprick and get tested so I could get the bilirubin lights. Of course, they freaked out at the results(16) and told me to keep him in the lights all night and then retest him in the morning(um, no, first time was bad enough).
I did keep him in the lights, all night AND all day. He still looks yellow, or maybe it's tan. His color has really leveled out and I'm seeing more red than yellow.
I'm just wondering, does the yellow go right away or does it take a couple days even if you take them out of the light. I just need all the jaundice info I can get.
TIA,
Megan
