It's about reassigning abandoned usernames. :wink

I have been wanting to change my username for a while and finally thought of one that I like, but it's already taken. However, the person who has that name posted twice about a year ago and hasn't been back since. Is there anyway that I can adopt and provide a loving home for that username? :innocent

Still wondering about this. :)

I had another thought - what if I were to foot the bill for the other person to change her name? Then could I take on the one she has now or would it be out of the running since it was already used once?

me too.Sorry, you are not allowed to change your username. There's a rule somewhere about the really cool usernames and how they just can't be abandoned (they would have issues!).

mama2toddles - I think CM or the general admin of these boards feels that they can't end a user's subscription just bc they don't post often or recently, in case they are regular lurkers.

Cynthia - what if we were to pm/email all of the usernames which seem inactive and alert them that their account will be deleted in 30 days if they do not respond, or something like that?

The more I think about, the more I'm sure that you're right about this. So Cynthia, if you do happen to read this, what about my second question (about paying for the others person's change assuming they agree to it)? Would that work? I went into this user's public profile and tried to email her but she isn't set up to recieve email from other members. The message I got said that maybe an admin might be able to help...? :)

And PS, hotmamacita - I really like your name too! Whenever I see it I always sing "hot mamacita, cha cha cha!" in my head! :love

Because of the weekly mothering e-mail going out to every member, the non-posting members won't be deleted. I agree with you guys - I'm all for purging (you should see my house lately lol), but it boils down to the weekly e-mail.

If you want a username that is taken by a non-active member just let me know what it is. I'll check the account and if the member has not logged in for a long time I'll email and ask for activity or closure of the account. If the latter you can have the username. :)
