Tell me about Petaluma, CA

My mom is moving to Petaluma. I am very excited for her, as she will finally have a nice house. I'll be about 45 mins away, and I'm sure over to visit with her a lot during the week with ds. So, tell me, what is around there? Parks, playgrounds, good restaurants, fun stuff to do, etc. Thanks!

We're moving to Petaluma this week, so come and play with us! McNear Park (http://www.petalumamothersclub.org/picks/mcnear.htm) is getting rave reviews on the Petaluma Mothers Club site, and it is near where we are moving, but we have not visited it yet. Old Chicago's Pizza is a great pizza place right downtown near the Mystic Theatre.

McNear Park is definitely the nicest park in Petaluma, and is a great hangout for kids and parents alike. My daughter (2.5) also likes to go to the park by the Petaluma airport as you get to see the planes take off and landing. The playground equipment is older and is not the place to go after a rain shower, unless you bring waders!

petaluma is great! there is a cute downtown area with fun shops. i don't know how old your baby is, but if they are old enought to walk this could be fun. i know shopping isn't the thing to do with a toddler. but, sometimes when you are just walking and able to see cool stuff (that isn't so mass produced) and the babe is stimulated it's a great combo. it's a mellow,quaint and cool town w/ generally nice weather. if you are into rare records there is an incredible record shop in this area also. and i mean incredible! bring your mom with you if you want time to check it out.
