I'm really tired, so won't type much now....

Friday- met the ped neurosurgeon, the high-risk ob and the social worker. Looks like c/s will be last week of October- they are letting me go to 39 weeks so he can fatten up!! (GOOD NEWS THOUGH- finally topped 5lbs, so maybe he'll get to 7 lbs! *fingers crossed*)
Surgeon was a bit weird, but I don't think they are used to people, unless they are sedated. :wink
He's been in practice 19 years though and seems to really know what he is doing. There's a risk of menigitis, but he said that has happened only twice in that time- both times when people didn't realize they were having spina bifida babies, so treatment didn't happen right away.
Really like the ob- only bad thing is that he wants to transfer my case up there right away so he can monitor the rest of the pregnancy, which means going up there once a week for the next month!! If he had said this earlier- I would have thrown a fit!! (Actually I threw a little one anyway.) It will work out, since I'll be in PHX next week anyway for my job and then the week after is my last week of work.
Social worker- got things set up to stay at Ronald McDonald house and a baptism right after birth (dp is Catholic--- not a very good one :wink --- but has suddenly decided this is important to him.)

Okay- so much for not typing much-- going to take a nap now! :down

Forgot to mention: They did change the hospital where I'm delivering from St. Joseph's (which I'm familiar with) to Good Samiratan (sp?) which I know nothing about. Time for more net research!!

Oh this is annoying- I know there was something else I forgot, but now I forgot what I forgot!! EEK! :flipped

Good luck to you. Look into all the options the social worker has for you. The Ronald McDonald house, I believe, makes you pay a small fee and do clean-up. There may be other options in the area. I pray your baby is born safely. Lots of love to you :heartbeat

RMH "charges" 5$ a day or whatever you can pay.
Also, there are organizations (pertaining to your child's condition) or church groups, etc. that will pay your fee. My sister was very fortunate when a heart organization offered to pay for their 6 week stay.
If you can't pay, RMH will most likely waiver it.
All they ask is that you clean up after yourselves in the kitchen, play, and living areas, and that you keep your room clean and leave it in the same condition it was in when you got it.
They do ask that you spend a few hours a day there, which won't be too hard if you have family coming in and out of town to visit. And I'm sure you will go there to take a nap or get a change of clothes.

Best of luck to you!

I don't know too much about Good Sam as I am delivering at Scottsdale Shea. However, my insurance and obgyn go through both, and I've heard good things about the hospital through her. My mom is also a RN (has been for years, and is now studying homeopathic medicine), who has worked at this hospital. She liked it as well. I do know that they have a nice chinese garden area for you to sit at outside. I'll talk with her tomorrow, and see if I can come up with any info for you.
At least something better than, "this person likes it". :wink

Ugh. I hate when they change hospitals on you like that! At least you have time to research it beforehand.
My friend delivered both her girls at Good Sams. Her first was a healthy 36 weeker, her second was born at 32 weeks after several weeks there on bedrest because her water broke early. She had nothing but good things to say about the hospital.
Good luck!
