I used some of these last time around and did quite well with them. My doula let me copy them from a book she had but I don't know what book it was (sorry). Thought some of you might be interested.

Labor & Birth Essential Oils:

First stage-
1. bath with 2-3 drops lavender
2. ½ pint warm water with 2-3 drops of clary sage on compress for lower back or abdomen
3. massage oil-almond with lavender & jasmine

Second stage-
1. few drops of neroli or petitgrain to tissue or cloth

Transition-
1. cool wash cloth with a few drops of neroli to wipe over face and neck

Birth-
1. bowl of warm water with 2-3 drops of jasmine on compress over lower abdomen to expel placenta
2. bowl of hot water with 3 drops of lemon

Essential Oils and their uses for Labor & Birth:

Clary sage: tension reliever, pain reliever (use in compress)-don’t use if you have gas

Neroli: fear, apprehension, anxiety, helps breathing (1-2 drops on tissue or cloth to inhale)

Jasmine: dulls uterine pain, strengthens contractions, energizing & uplifting, confidence booster (use in compress or massage oil with lavender)

Lavender: use with jasmine or in bowl-antiseptic

Petitgrain: breath easier, more cheerful (1-2 drops on tissue or cloth to inhale)

Rose-circulation, deep and calm breathing (use in massage oil or in bowl with geranium to scent the room)

All of those are great! I think a mama has to like the smell first and then try to use it in labor. I loved patchouli in labour with my third but only when I was outside in the fresh air...It helped me ground. I also loved the neroli (expensive) in an atomiser that I could spray on myself.
