I'm so nervous! I don't know what's going on. Yesterday my dh and I went on a walk. We took it easy and maybe walked two miles or so. I started getting horrible, horrible pains and pressure. I kept stopping for breaks and then finally it got so bad that I could barely even make it home and we were only maybe a block away. We found a taxi and he actually told us he wouldn't take us and that he was busy but then I think he felt bad because I started to cry because I got worried that maybe this could be me going into labour so he took us anyway. I came home and by ten minutes or so later I was feeling better.

So..!

The rest of the night went by and I felt fine. Dh and I went to sleep but before we went to sleep we decided to :innocent you know! I felt fine then a while after that I started to get really bad pains. I felt so much pressure down there, my stomach kept getting like rock hard, my hips felt like they'd break apart and ouch ouch ouch. I couldn't get to sleep so I sort of walked around and tried to stretch a bit to help relieve it a little but it didn't really help. And then it started going away and coming back and my stomach was getting really hard. So I think I could of been having contractions. I couldn't ever count them properly because they were too intense and I was just trying to breath through the pains. And I didn't keep track of the clock but they seemed to be coming often. I kept going to the toilet because I thought I had to go because of the pressure but I still haven't gone.

It's the next day and getting close to evening time and they still haven't gone completely away. It's not nearly as bad as it was yesterday and earlier today but at least a little better. I still get super huge pain/pressure every once in a while.

I haven't lost any mucous plug or anything that I know of. I have had some really weird "discharge" twice. Last night actually on my way to the shower before the pains started. Alot came out and even got on my leg. Ew. :irked: And then today I had like liquid come out. Almost like water. And it didn't have any smell. But it wasn't alot alot to be like water breaking or anything but it didn't seem like discharge. I couldn't tell the colour because our toilet paper is green.

Do you think this could just be the baby dropping? I haven't dropped yet or anything. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow for a check-up. The last time I went I was two fingers dialated she said and she thought I'd deliver before the second. (Uh huh :blah )

I'm so worried! And my body seems to be falling apart. I'm so huge. I'm swollen EVERYWHERE. It used to be my right foot and now both of my legs are swollen, my hands are getting swollen, my tattoo on my stomach is like bleeding colours into eachother, I have stretchmarks on the back of my legs even! :( But I don't want to finish it yet. I really want to go at least until her due date.

I'm just scared. I don't know what to expect and I feel so alone! I only have my dh with me and he doesn't know anything about it either. None of my books ever seem to give good advice and my doctor is bed-rest happy so I'm almost afraid to talk to her about what's going on. I want this to be over soon but I'm not ready!

well, honey, it sounds like your body is gettin' ready for labour.

the 'discharge' you had could have been parts of your mucus plug. i know for me, it came out over several days, not as one big clump, just sort of lots and lots of thick goo. lovely, huh ? also, when my water broke with my DD, there was no big gush. there was one small, small, small trickle (it felt like i just peed in my pants a little), then the baby's head came down and stopped the leak. i gave birth within 6 hours :)

walking and sex definately bring on contractions!

Try not to panic! It sounds like your labor is gearing up, and that's a good thing. Remember that your body knows what to do. You don't have to know what to expect for this to all go just fine. Your body grew this baby perfectly and can deliver her as well, and it's almost time for that to happen. You'll have her in your arms very soon! Try to rest and relax. Anxiety is going to make your pain worse. Take a hot bath, drink some tea, and let your body do its work to bring your baby out to you.

it sounds like your body is gearing up for the real thing...try to relax.

Also that water sounds like it might have been your water breaking..it's not always a big gush in fact often it'sjust a trickle especially if the baby's head settled down and plugged it up.

I know it's scary but it will all be fine..it's all perfectly normal. Your perfect little baby will be here soon.

:hug

I agree with the pp's. :) Your body definitely knows what it's doing, and things are definitely getting started. Try to just relax and take it as it comes. It's no good getting too anxious or impatient with the process. It's never to early to start breathing through the pain and using relaxation techniques. Alot of the discomforts of the third trimester are as uncomfortable, if not more uncomfortable, as labor itself, IMO.

I would agree that the goo was part of your mucous plug (unless it was semen) and that gush of fluid could have been either your water leaking or semen too. I'm not sure on the timeline there, whether the discharge occured before or after the sex.

Good luck!

I just wanted to add that it also might be the baby getting in a different position. I have had that pain repeatedly for a few weeks, not to scare you, but my kiddo wants to turn himself posterior and I have to insist that he turn back over. It can be very painful when they want to turn. So, spend some time on hands and knees or leaned over a pillow or birth ball and see if that helps...it definitely can't hurt! www.spinningbabies.com has all the positions.

But mainly it sounds like you're getting ready to give birth soon either way. :) Good luck mama!

Every body is different and I agree that you should try to remain relaxed and calm!!

Whenever I go walking, I have pains that make me stop and rest (I can't ever get far), they don't go away and they linger for a while after I stop walking. I always need to rest/lay down and not do anything for a while. This happened to me during my previous pgs too...nothing that I did could stop them. I also wanted to say that it could be your body greaing up but it still could be a while before you go into labor.

The water does sound like you have a little leak of amnio fluid. You could check for little hairs in the liquid (which I read recently are the baby's hairs shedding from his/her body-same as our bodies shed)

Relax the time will come!!!!! Talk to the doc and hopefully you'll be reassured even more!

the same stuff happens to me when i walk or even just clean up around the house (quick movements, lots of bending and squatting) the pressure in my belly is intense and I get very sharp pains. i have been on walks 3-4 times when i couldnt quite make it home (at least not without some tears :( )

also, when i over exert myself, it seems i have more fluid. its just plain vaginal fluid, but i find i have to wear a cloth liner nowadays, since the last week or so (I am 36 weeks) it happens very often. my midwife said an increase of vaginal fluid is VERY common during this last month. I am not dilated or anything, so I know labor isnt coming too early, but i just try to drink more water and take it easy. (I still excercise and walk, but do it slower with less quick or wide movements) i also wear a full belly brace now (its made by 'loving comforts' and they sell them at medical supply stores and pharmacies) because my ligament/muscle pains were so intense i could sleep and was even worried about placental issues....which luckily, isnt the case.

I am also quite swollen now and completely understand what you are going through! :love but soon it will all be worth it, and being with my dd helps me put this icky time into prespective :throb

good luck mama!

Oh I am so glad you asked about this, because it describes how I've been feeling. Now I know for sure I've been having contractions.

What you're going through sounds normal. I'm nearly 38 weeks and went on a strenuous hike and that triggered pretty hard BH contractions.
Sex: if DH ejaculates inside of you, the progesterone on his semem can trigger contractions. This happened to me already 2+ months ago, to the point where I felt like a bowling ball was settled on my pelvic floor- very achey and congested entire genital area- ouch- plus hard contractions. If he doesn't ej in me, it doesn't happen. Good news is that since we're just about 38 weeks, it's okay if she comes anytime so I'm now hoping lots of sex helps ripen my cervix & makes the final labor/birth happen quickly!

Moisture: yes, we preggies get very juicy. I sleep w/a pillow between my legs and almost feel like I should use a sponge instead! I've even gotten up in the a.m. and had some fluid run down my leg. But if it's more that, it might be an amnio leak. You're in a safe zone for birthing anyhow, due in 14 days, you're fine.

Swelling: drink lots of water, take gentle walks, and eat fresh, raw fruits, veggies & nuts and cut back on breads, pastas, potatoes, heavy cooked foods. If do this your swelling will decrease within a day or two. Unless you're actually in premature labor (and you're within 2 weeks of your due date, so that's not considered premature, meaning your baby can be safely birthed now if s/he decides to come), bedrest is unwise. Your body needs circulation to keep oxygenated etc. Oh, if you could swim, that would be the best exercise!

Otherwise, R E L A X and enjoy the last days/weeks and trust the wisdom of your body- just be sure to listen to the messages it's giving you!

Blessings!

Well, it is really true though about the ejaculation part I think. God, this is way too much info - but we had been trying to not do that just so we wouldn't disturb anything if it didn't need to be just in case. And that night we made an oops. So I think that's what caused it! Now I'm sort of afraid to have sex though. The pain was really bad and nothing was curing it.
