Any signs of labour getting close? Last Wednesday I had some intense contractions and thought it might be impending, but nothing since. So disappointing!
any appointments coming up soon? I see the midwife on Thursday afternoon - baby due Saturday
Are you ready for baby? I waffle back and forth a lot between feeling very ready and suddenly getting spooked that I might have him that night and realizing all the stuff I want to do first. I'm ready to meet him and put a face to all these kicks and squirms, that's for sure.

Anything you want to add? I feel a bit labory tonight, but I really want it to hold off. I've got a bit of cleaning to do, as well as painting in the bathroom.

Any signs of labour getting close?
Well, I've had two bouts of "false labor" since my membranes were stripped on Wednesday, so I'm hoping that means were' getting a bit closer! I've also had some more noticeable contractions for the last couple of days, along with some new nausea symptoms (great), so again, maybe labor is soon?
any appointments coming up soon?
On Wednesday, I've got my 39 wk checkup
Are you ready for baby?
abso-freakin-lutely!!!!
Anything you want to add?
Hmm...at my last appt, doc said baby is 8 lbs, maybe a little over. She seemed to be a bit concerned about this, as was I until I learned that this is fairly common, and that lots of people give birth to "bigger babies" (Is 8-8.5 considered big?). I have a bit more confidence in this respect now, which is definately a good thing. :) I'm really happy to hear about everyone else's deliveries, but really can't wait to post one of my own!!! :LOL

Any signs of labour getting close? Not really, pubic pain, cervical pain, hip pain, a few more BH's, but nothing significant.
any appointments coming up soon? My mw does her home visit Saturday. :)
Are you ready for baby? Maybe...I still have so many little details I'd like to take care of, but I won't be sad if my list is unfinished by the time the baby makes his grand entrance.
Anything you want to add?I'm exhausted and seriously considering going to bed for the night right now! (It's 7:45)

Any signs of labour getting close? contractions every night, some in the day time...baby is really low...so really...no :( :wink
any appointments coming up soon?had mw appt today..all is well :thumb
Are you ready for baby?Yes please..now would be good.
Anything you want to add? I am in a lot of pain..every muscle is sore...I am so tired of being pregnant...I think this is Mother Natures way of getting me to be ok with never being pregnant again...ok MN...I get it..let up a bit alright!
PHNX0221~I personally don't think 8 lbs is large...maybe 9.5lbs and up I would consider large..the 7 lbs range always seems small to me.
I read somewhere the birth weight in the US has dropped and it's being attributed to the increase in inductions..many done before baby is fully cooked I guess. It was on the rise for along time due to better maternal nutrition.

How far along are you now? 37 weeks, 1 day
Any signs of labour getting close? Lots of pre-labor but it doesnt seem to mean a thing cause its been over a week now. I got checked today, 3 cm dialated, 80-85% effaced, head is low. Just waiting for labor to kick in, now.
any appointments coming up soon? had one today, we didn't schedule another one, we're pretty sure i'll go within the next week. If not, i'll schedule one later. LOL
Are you ready for baby? YES. more than ready!!
Anything you want to add? Mylittle brother is in town since last Tuesday, I really thought I would have the baby early on during his visit, but now it's a week later & she isn't here! He leaves on Thursday and is hoping to meet her.

I second that. My first son was 8#2 and I thought he was the perfect size. He seemed so tiny--I can't imagine a smaller one to take care of. I personally like them fully cooked, so give me a 10 pounder any day! :wink
I also heard that average is down due to inductions...that makes me sad. Let them grow, I say!

How far along are you now? 40w 1d
Any signs of labour getting close? Not really, I may be losing little bits of my mucous plug. I've had a few very mild contrax...like bad menstual cramps, here and there, but nothing that lasts. My first was almost 2 weeks past his edd, so I'm not really expecting anything anytime soon.
any appointments coming up soon? m/w appt on wednesday
Are you ready for baby? YES! Even though like I said before, I kind of expect to go "late", somehow when Oct 2 rolled around, it was like a timer went off and I was just DONE! I'm excited and impatient to meet this baby and find out if it's a boy or girl. I can't wait for my homebirth. After all the stress of baby being breech for so long...I'm READY!
PHNX0221 - I also don't think that an 8 lber is a "big" baby! My first was 8lb 5oz. It is actually kind of nice...espescially for a first baby I thought. He seemed so much sturdier than some of my friends smaller kids. :)

Time for updates...let's see how everyone is doing...feeling etc.
How far along are you now? 37 weeks 5 days
Any signs of labour getting close? Lots of Braxton-Hicks contractions, getting more intense, also was 50% effaced, a fingertip dilated and soft & ripe cervix as of last Thursday's appt
any appointments coming up soon? I'm sure one this week, since we're down to the weekly appts now
Are you ready for baby? Almost...need to call sunshinediapers.com and have them send our order (the "test drive" newborn set that I get for 4 months, send back for nearly 75% store credit to use on remaining diapering supplies) And I'm waiting for my bedside cosleeper (borrowing from a friend)...so, by next week we'll be ready! Even have the birthing tub already...
For those of you have your babies...how's it going?
Anything you want to add? I'm so emotional & sappy & happy & so is DH! I can't wait to meet our little sweet girl!

Whew, thanks for the input! I've started to think that maybe 8 lbs really isn't all that much, and you guys have definately reaffirmed that, thanks for making me feel better! :D
Now, if only she'll just come out now! :LOL
How far along are you now?
3 days until DUE DAY!
Any signs of labour getting close?
None, none, none!
Constant braxton hicks, but have been having those for weeks. Lots of pelvic pain, again having that for weeks. First tri symptoms are back but have been for weeks.
any appointments coming up soon?
Friday I have my 39 week appointment [I'll be 40 weeks 1 day by date of conception though!]
Are you ready for baby?
Oh yea! I've been ready for weeks! I thought she'd be here late September for sure!
Anything you want to add?
At my last appointment, the midwife estimated 7-7.5 pounds. But I think she's bigger than that.
Also, I'll be having the birth filmed for a hypnobirthing film project. That is...IF I ever have this baby! ;)

Any signs of labour getting close? nope, unless you count being really, really huge!
any appointments coming up soon? OB appt in the morning
Are you ready for baby? NO!!! the house is a mess, nothing is in place or washed, etc.
For those of you have your babies...how's it going?
Anything you want to add?
Don't let the idea of having a "big" baby worry you! My first was 8 lbs, 14 oz, and my second was 9 lbs 6 oz (that one came out with one good push!). i fully expect this one to weigh 10 lbs or more, and if it doesn't, i'll be worried! My OB is beside himself, trying to convince me i need an induction or c/s to "make sure this baby doesn't get too big." i just laugh in his face. Some babies are SUPPOSED to be big, especially if your mom or your MIL had big babies (mine gave birth two three 10-pounders, and she's a small woman of about 4'10" and 80 lbs). It really can be genetic!!! Remember, no matter how much the baby weighs, chances are his/her head and shoulders won't be any bigger than normal--the rest is soft, and doesn't hurt on the way out! I think my exact words to my OB on the subject were "Yeah, well, a skinny baby doesn't necessarily have a small head, so i'll take my chances with a healthy one." He didn't have much to say after that.

Any signs of labour getting close? More frequent Braxton-Hicks in the past 2 days, most notably in the evenings. Besides that, not much. MW checked me at last week's appointment (home visit) and cervix was high and posterior.
any appointments coming up soon? Wednesday afternoon.
Are you ready for baby? Both DH and I are so ready to meet our little one! House is done (we had a ton of renovations done over the summer), just doing a bit of cleaning each day to 'maintain'.
For those of you have your babies...how's it going?
Anything you want to add? Most recent bloodwork came back and I'm slightly anemic, so my mw gave me a bunch of supplements and herbs to take to build up my blood. Not the most pleasant thing to be taking all of these pills, tinctures etc...

How far along are you now? - 39 weeks
Any signs of labour getting close? - more frequent strong contractions that I can't feel (well I feel them, but no pain), but I can see them distort my belly and it will get rock hard for about 1-2 min. I think I'm loosing my mucus plug slowly. I've felt quite gooey, not just normal discharge, but nothing that screams mucus plug, so I guess it's 'shedding'
any appointments coming up soon? - nope, UC
Are you ready for baby? - Oh god yes!! I've been ready for 2 months. I swear that I've been pregnant for 5 years!
For those of you have your babies...how's it going? - N/A

How far along are you now? 37 weeks today-good to go at the birth center
Any signs of labour getting close? nope
any appointments coming up soon? thursday at 4pm-haven't seen midwife in a month-out on delivery at last appt
Are you ready for baby? I think so. I have a lot to do still, but I would also be fine if he came tomorrow! I was just telling dh that I am not quite as anxious as with ds#1--just waiting for this little guy to decide he's ready!
For those of you have your babies...how's it going?
Anything you want to add? I am finally starting to feel like I have been pregnant for a really long time.
Phnx0221: my NP said to me...maybe 8 lbs#. I thought Holy Smokes! Maybe I'll go on a diet. Then talking with other mammas, inc. MIL, 8's not that big...and it seems that the bigger they start off maybe the earlier they sleep through the night?
How far along are you now? 37 plus a couple d's
Any signs of labour getting close? Hmmm, FTM here, does nesting count?
any appointments coming up soon? Every Thurs until the BIG DAY.
Are you ready for baby? Oh no, not yet! Have got lists! Pages of lists! Lots to do! This nesting thing erupted last Fri wee morning (unfortunately I awoke in a hotel room so the first day of nesting was slightly frustrated), and since then...vavoom! Are these hormones that are coursing through the blood? Yesterday, in addition to working, started nesting my office, made dinner, took a nice walk, and made 6 batches of granola (should last DH 2 months of post partum b-fast). It's awesome! I wanna know, how long does it last?!
Anything you want to add? Then again, I am not averse to our little guy showing up early, and would then happily chuck the lists! I want to meet the little knee, and round bum, and hicupping head.

Any signs of labour getting close?
No. Although last night I had my first experience with Braxton Hicks. Never had any with my first pregnancy. However they had me up all night. Gave me a bit of a scare though. I am certain I will go over due but this seemed to be a reminder to get things done!
any appointments coming up soon?
Today at 3pm. 37 week check up. The Dr. wants to do the strep B test. I kept forgetting to use a garlic suppository at night as it is suppose to help you get a negative strep B test...I put some in last night..POOR DR! :LOL
Are you ready for baby?
Not in the slightest. Which is why last nights BH lit a little fire...I keep thinking I have six weeks to get things ready...reality is I might not. So today I feel a little frantic about finding the time to get it all done.
Anything you want to add?
I am exhausted!! Between the rib pain, BH, and DS being up all night (two nights in a row) and then having to be up for work every morning....it's wearing on me and my patience. Thankfully only 8 more working days...I could use the luxury of being able to sleep in right about now. I might have decided to stay at work TOO long this time... :innocent

How far along are you now? 39 weeks 5 days, 2 to go till EDD. My other 3 arrived on my due date so I'm hoping it'll be this week. However, my midwife and I disagreed on my EDD in the beginning. She thought the 6th and I the 9th. I went with her number because I wanted to make it as short as possible. So now I think the baby will come sometime over the (Canadian) Thanksgiving weekend.
Any signs of labour getting close? Been contracting like crazy for the last three weeks if that means anything. I know it doesn't.
any appointments coming up soon? My midwife is coming to the house on Thursday. I've never made it to a 40 week appointment before but looks like I will this time. I don't like it!
Are you ready for baby? As ready as I'll ever be! More ready to never be pregnant again than anything else!
For those of you have your babies...how's it going? N/A
Anything you want to add? Just not enjoying these last days of pregnancy and I feel like I am supposed to because it is our for sure last baby (#4). But I am sick of the discomfort and not being able to do anything very physical. In other words I have to ask other people to do so much for me and it seems my prioritys don't line up with DH's. He doesn't seem to care that the house be perfectly clean for the homebirth and thats all I want right now! yes, I'm whining.

allgirls, I am so glad someone understands! I am feeling so frustrated right now!
It actually just occured to me that maybe I am having that energy burst before labour that is so often talked about. I hired a cleaning lady to do 2 hours of cleaning this morning (in progress) and meanwhile I'm washing all my bedding (can't co-sleep with a new born in dingy bedding, right?), all the bathroom towels, made my DH clean up all his tools and such from around the house, etc, etc. Maybe I do have a sign of labour getting close! Only problem is I will go into labour, have a baby, and my dh won't be able to stand me anymore!

PS Does a cleaning energy burst count when you hire someone to help you accomplish it? :o

For those of you have your babies...how's it going?
It's going very well. I'm so in love with my little baby girl Piper. She is sooo sweet :). She is super peaceful, content and calm. And she is already smiling for us. My milk has come in. Piper is not the avid nurser that my DS was...yet anyhow. She's been nursing on average every 2 or 3 hours. She actually slept for 6 hours straight last night. I woke up with more afterpain stuff and got up to take a bath, she stirred a bit when I came back to bed but didn't want to nurse. It was really cute though. Early this morning DS woke up. He was sleeping on the other side of me, my back facing him. So he didn't see Piper in front of me and he said, "Where's the baby mom?" I think its so cute that he thinks of her first thing when he wakes up. DS has been nursing a little bit, I have been limiting it though. He nursed for about 5 minutes this morning and I told him he can have some at bed time.
The pediatrician is coming out today to do the newborn exam. Supposed to be done within 24 hours for homebirth we didn't call her until yesterday :innocent Oh well. Better late than never.
Jamie is still home and will be until Sunday. It's definitely an adjustment going from one to two. Piper is easy though, the challenge is keeping our almost 3 yr old busy and happy.
Oh, and the afterpains are getting a bit better each day so that's good. I think probably they will be gone by tomorrow. And I'm not all that sore "down there". Since I didn't tear!! So happy about that. Feeling achy in the pelvis etc but not too bad. Tonight DH is going to give me a nice back rub....I'm so looking forward to laying down on my stomach for the massage :). I am not missing being pregnant at all!
We are all in love with our little Piper. I'm so glad we kept the sex a surprise. We may not have any more babies, who knows for sure. But if not we now have a son and a daughter. And I think it's pretty cool our daughter will have a big brother to look out for her :).
Okay, done for now. :LOL I can't wait to read all your birth stories in the coming days and weeks.

How far along are you now? 37 W, 4 days.
Any signs of labour getting close? Not yet. But I've been having some really wonderful dreams! I dreamt a couple nights ago that that a group of women were all in a circle and everyone's baby was crowning at the same moment. Every one had there hands on the crowing head and was saying, very gently, "Oh, how cool this is, do you feel that, wow...this is so neat..."
Then I dreamt that I was at a summer camp I used to attend as a teen, and I had bloody show and menstrual cramps. I told another camper, "Well, this is it, I think this baby's coming down the pike." I called my midwife and she was 150 miles away and surrounded by floodwaters (?!) (too much hurricane news coverage??). But in the dream she gave me a hug, and said, "Don't worry, I wouldn't miss it for the world."
Good dreams, good energy.
any appointments coming up soon? Midwife comes tomorrow!
Are you ready for baby? Absolutely! My nephew asked me what I was going to be for Halloween, and I said, "lighter..." Of course we still have to get the clothes, and car seat down from the attic, but you know, that'll happen one of these days...
For those of you have your babies...how's it going? N/A
Anything you want to add?
For those of you feeling like your house is a wreck, I understand. We were still building our house when our DD was born. We did have a bedroom and a bathroom that was functional, though! Now, I feel like it doesn't matter how clean my house is when this baby comes. The baby won't care! And I may save up cleaning for a labor project...

Any signs of labour getting close?
 for the past, um, five weeks. lost my mucus plug four weeks ago.
any appointments coming up soon?
today in an hour or so. I've pretty much stopped looking forward to appointments because even the @#$% nurses are asking "when are you going to have the baby?"
Are you ready for baby?
So, so, so very ready.
Anything you want to add?
Someone on the September board (danaan, who had her baby at 41 weeks 4 days, I think) was talking about a safe place for mamas who are around their EDD's or over, away from people who want to ask dumb questions, with great child care and lots of massages. A resort or retreat or something. How great would that be? I am really longing for it this week, and I may just go splurge and get a great pedicure or something if this kid doesn't show up in the next day or so.

Any signs of labour getting close? Not really. I am pretty darn tired most of the time although I was able to get to yoga AND go for a walk yesterday. I am having some slight "twinges" but not sure what to think of those.
any appointments coming up soon? massage today; m/w appt on wednesday; Acupuncture on thursday (all covered by insurance - I am totally spoiled!). Oh, and a bunch of "meet and greet" appointments with potential baby doc's.
Are you ready for baby? YES! Both my husband and I are on leave from work now (until January) and are just kinda waiting. We have a bunch of stuff that we are working on around the house but I seem to be really distracted and can't get much done. Am so excited for this baby to get here - mostly excited to find out the sex and see what he/she looks like!

Just wanted to add a bit to my "update" since i had an appointment today.
i saw the nurse-dude instead of the OB, which is a VERY good thing, because he's less obnoxious :) Alright, so i've never felt the need to punch him! haha! Anyway, baby still hasn't dropped, i'm measuring 39 1/2 weeks (i'm only 37), 50% effaced and a fingertip dilated. This was the first time i've been "checked" since baby hasn't dropped yet, so they didn't bother before (all the better). The nurse-dude told me "you know, you don't HAVE to wait for your due date..." i think he was trying to be funny, but he seems really concerned about the baby being "too big" which really irritates me. When he measured my uterus, he said to noone in particular (my husband and a nurse were in the room) "i'm surprised she isn't complaining; she's really running out of room in there" is that supposed to scare me? I have another ultrasound scheduled for next week; he wants to see "how big" the baby is--like that's going to have anything to do with how i birth her! Haha, and they haven't even asked me about pain medication, etc; i have a feeling they'll be VERY surprised when i say i don't want any, lol.

Any signs of labour getting close? Yes but they are all just teasers i think. Bloody show, lost the mucous plug, waves getting pretty intense. Actually timed 10 mins apart for over 7 hours on sunday. Constantly ache in my back as of yesterday and my bowels are loose lol. Baby is 0 station and engaged, but im only 50% and a fingertip dilated. I have to keep reminding myself that i had 'latent' labor for weeks with dd.
any appointments coming up soon? Had my chiro adjustment an hour ago and feel 100 times better, my 37 week appt with midwives is tomorrow.

Any signs of labor getting close? I refuse to get excited about anything at this point! Ever since the pre-term labor it's felt like the baby is "late" even though he's not. I've had lots of contractions and at this point am just trying to relax and not worry about it.
Any appointments coming up soon? I have an appointment this Thursday. The week before last I'd dilated 2 cm in 4 days, and the next week I hadn't changed at all. Who knows what it will be this time?
Are you ready for baby? Definately yes, but I have a horrible cold right now. I can't imagine going through labor while hacking my head off, so I'll be fine holding out a bit longer!

How far along are you now? 37 weeks!
Any signs of labour getting close? I've been contracting since August, but they've changed and are a bit crampier and more distracting. I'm torn between thinking it will be pretty soon (my daughter was born at 38 weeks exactly) and thinking this baby will never come out. I'm READY to stop being pregnant.
any appointments coming up soon? I had a prenatal yesterday with my backup midwives and everything looked good. I will see my homebirth midwife on Friday.
Are you ready for baby? Well, we have a lot of stuff, if that's what you mean. It's my second baby, and it's so hard for me to imagine having a child other than my first. I'm ready to see him. I'm ready to have him on the outside. I'm nervous and excited and vaguely appalled at trying to figure out how to care for two children.
