and really asking for TMI, but I really want/need to know...
How do you check your dilation? I want to ask dh to do it for me, but not really sure how :o :o :o
I haven't had vaginal exam yet, so I really have no idea.

Well I just tried to explain to him what the cervix is shaped like and how it feels and I just let him find it on his own lol. It took him a while the first time but now that he knows where to look and what it feels like he can find it pretty quickly. He refuses to see if I am effaced or not though, he is afraid to put his finger into my cervix, he's afraid of what he might touch while in there lol. So far I am holding steady at 1 cm ugh.

My midwife said it feels like the tip of your nose and then gets softer the farther along you are.

I put my leg up on the toilet and reach waaaayyy back into my vagina. The top part of the vaginal vault at this point in pregnancy is really mushy. Your cervix is at the very top, probably pointing toward your back (posterior). During, or just prior to, labor, it will come forward and begin to efface and dialate.

You have two openings to your cervix--the outer and inner os, you'll be feeling the outer most likely.

It's a little awkward, as the cervix is really mushy at this point and hard to reach.
