I'm at 25 weeks, and I have gained about 35 lbs already!!!
I gained 60 with my last pg, lost 70, and slowely gained back 10 to be right at my previous pre-pregnancy weight. I was hoping to not gain more than 45 this time - we shall see!

last time I checked, it was 20 lbs for me, 24 lbs at the midwife's. Feel like I should be gaining more than that, but I was overweight to start with, so maybe not.

Uh...I'm not sure? 20 lbs? 25 maybe? I'm 25 weeks and some change. Going to back-up OB today, have to fight dumb nurse to stay off scale. I'll weigh myself when I feel like, thankyouverymuch mean nurse-lady. If I get on it though, I'll let you know :)

18 weeks along and about 8 lbs gained here so far. This is the least I have ever gained by this time of gestation. My first pregnancy at delivery I'd gained 80, second pregnancy at delivery I'd gained 35. Of the 80, I lost 40 of it. Of the 35 I'd lost about 20 of it. :bang
Needless to say I am very thankful to have gained so little. I'm holding my breath though as I'm afraid it will try to catch up with me later. I eat way different foods than I did with my first and somewhat different foods than I did with my second.

Almost 26 weeks here and last I was told it was "around 20 lbs" The OB then asked how much I gained with my last two pregnancies. I was honest and told her about 35-40 pounds but that most of that weight gain was in the first trimester! (this time I gained nothing in the first trimester) She said at least I was gaining more evenly this time. I still don't know whether she thinks I've gained too little, or too much! :LOL Though to be honest, I don't really care. My body, my babe, and we're doing great.

TOO MUCH!!! I don't know exactly but I'm guessing 20-25 lbs - I'm only 23 weeks. Last time I gained 60lbs and lost it all with no effort and this time I seem to be on the same track. **sigh** The worst thing is that I seem to gain so much in my face. I swear my face gets twice its normal size. I am not exagerating.
I'm 28 weeks on Thursday, this am when I weighed myself I was at 11 pounds total.. that's from my original weight.. but there was a time that I lost like 4 pounds in the beginning.. so should that be added on?? I guess that would put me at 15? hmmmm

I have gained about 10 pounds so far. First trimester I was a little worried, because some weeks I LOST weight. Overall, I gained 5 pounds the first (and most of the second) trimester, and 5 pounds last month! I started out 100 pounds overweight, so I am not too worried about the weight loss from first trimester. Now I am worried about the 5 pound gain in a month! part of that is that I feel so much better now, that I am eating "more leniently." Now, I never felt _bad_ but I would get tired of sweets much sooner than normal. It seems my appetite has gone back to normal :lol .
I noticed my face has gotten thinner, but again, I think that was because I started out so heavy, that my face was puffy before I got pregnant.
Anyway, my baby is measuring normally ( at last check), so I will not worry about my gain (too much, anyway).

I'm 23 weeks and have gained about 15 pounds. I am a little worried because I haven't gained much in the past month and I was a little underweight when I got pregnant. I'm just not that hungry and I feel like I get full after just a few bites! I guess baby is pushing on my tummy and making it smaller. I've started making smoothies for myself so hopefully I'll get back on track with my weight gain!

I'm about 26 weeks? (my due date changes every time I go to the OB so who knows how far I actually am) and I've gained about 8 pounds but I started out about 30 pounds overweight so I'm not worried. I've been eating way more healthy than normal (not that I usually eat bad but I've especially been watching it) so I figure that's why I haven't gained a lot. But the baby's obviously growing so I guess it's ok!

I've gained 9 lbs. I lost some weight in the begining, and my brother died 2 months ago yesterday, so I lost some weight due to that. I'm gaining now, though, and I feel pretty good. I don't want to put on more fat than I need to, but I was overweight to begin with, so I don't need much!

Are you ready for this???
29 lbs!!!
Yipes!! That's guessing though because I'm not 100% sure what I weighed pre-preg. So somewhere between 24 and 29 lbs @ 25 wks. Yowza. :) Moooo! ;)
p.s. Yes, this means I got on the scale at the dr's office. Different nurse too, I just didn't feel like fighting today. Their scale seems to be a couple pounds higher than any other scale I've been on though... "officially" I have gained 23 lbs since 12 weeks, so 23 lbs in 13 weeks, according to that dr's scale.

Oh man. At my appt. in the beginning of August I weighed 130, and last Thursday I weighed 148! Quite a quick weight gain. (I'm 25 weeks along.) I admit that quite a lot of that has to be cheese and chocolate chip cookies . . . :hide:

Wow, it finally feels like a real possiblity that this little guy will show up - so I'll answer a question :)
I was overweight to begin with... and this week at 26 wks finally hit what I weighed in March! I was kinda worried but baby is fine, and it seems that the trick/answer is both the 15lbs I lost the first trimester, and the celiac diet that I'm stuck with (no flour). Its just amazing without pasta, cookies, cake, bread etc, - and my aversion to dairy -how HARD it is to gain too much weight :) Now watch, I'll probably hit 20 more lbs in these last 14 wks!

At 24 weeks and some change I've gained about 27lbs. I'm sure it will just keep going up as I'm hungry ALL the time!

35 lbs- I win! I started at 125 and am at 160 now. I gained 40 lbs. total with my son (started at 125 then also) and am definitely going to surpass that this time- maybe by 30 weeks! I haven't even been eating very much lately, as I'm too lazy to make food so I wait until my partner makes me something.
The amazing part is that people are telling me I look like I haven't gained much, and then I say "yeah, only 35 lbs" and their eyes bug out.

Girl Scout cookies aren't until February...BUT...Holidays are coming up!! I'm sure I'll catch right on up to you ladies very soon! 29 isn't that far below 35 ya know ;) Great thing is, I don't feel like I've gained almost 30 lbs and I don't look like I weigh 167 lbs, so it's all good :)

As of last week (week 27), I'm up 15 from prepregnancy... but most of that (10 lbs) has happened in the last 2 months. I feel like I've already gained 3-5 pounds since last week. Yesterday my stomach was stretched so tightly I thought I was going to pop. And still 12 more weeks to go? Yikes!!

I'm 28 weeks and I've gained about 21 lbs. so far. With my first I gained about 40 lbs. altogether, and I think that I weighed more at this point, but I'm not sure. I was 104 lbs. pre-preg., so I hope that I'm gaining enough, I was expecting to have gained more by now, but my son was born June 30th, so some of the weight that I gained with him may have been due to water retetion (because of the warm weather) and I haven't had any of that yet...so, who knows? :down

12 lbs at 27 weeks - less than with ds but gained 25lbs total with him so I could still hit that in the next 10 weeks - especially with the cooler weather and yummy foods coming up!! The big difference is when nausea hits - last time was in the a.m. this time in the p.m. so I can't seem to get anything in for dinner most evenings.

I've gained about 30 pounds at 26 weeks, I'm not positive of my pre-preg weight. I gained 60 with ds......I don't feel as hungry this time, but I'm obviously on the right track! LOL! I'm still carrying quite high and small, and I'm afraid of what is going to happen the day it all comes down!

I just weighed myself again last night! I'm 190... so that makes a gain of 25 lbs. I just know I"m going to hit 200 lbs with this babe...that's going to be a demoralizing day, even though I know it's healthy to gain weight when you're pg. I'm going to have to lay off the butter when this babe comes! :LOL

I'm up 30 lbs at 29 weeks! My humbling moment is going to be if I pass DH, who weighs 170...ha! That will be in about 10 more pounds, which I hope won't happen, but like some of you have mentioned, I know not to worry about it. It all comes off. Breastfeeding works so beautifully that way. And I am a firm believer that our bodies put on what they need to put on.

Yes, but will breastfeeding get rid of the 40 extra lbs I had before I got pg too? :LOL

I'm hoping this happens! I heard that bfing also makes it easier to lose weight in the booty/thighs area which would be great because this part of me has gained as much, if not more, mass than my belly!

At my Dr.'s appt. Friday, I had gained a total of 13 opunds. That means that I gained 8 poundsin the last month! Yikes. Not good-- especially since I have been cheating ALOT-- candy and sweets galore. So, less sweets for me, and if I gain "too much" after that, I won't worry. Right now, I know I am not feeding my baby healthy foods, so back to the grindstone, eh? :D

I just checked my weight at the midwife's last week and was surprised by how *little* I've gained. I estimated my weight at my first appt with her (back in April) at 135 lbs, which was a high normal BMI (my ideal is 122, but the accepted range is 120-141 for me). Anyway, when I stood on the scale last week I was only 140 lbs. Granted, I lost a fair bit of weight in my first trimester. I've gained all of that back. But I was surprised by how little I've gained. I'm in my 29th week here and thought I should have put on a bit more by now.
I talked it over with my mw and she said that it wasn't a huge concern because I was measuring normal for fundal height and size. She assured me that Carys will get all she needs before I do, so the only concern really is that I'm eating enough to sustain my energy levels for labour.

I had gained 60 lbs with the first one - then lost 70 lbs without even trying! I think it did take about 18 months though. We nursed for 3.5 years - in fact just stopped 3 months ago.
Gotta love my midwives. I told them I have gained the most weight in my online due date club (35 lbs now at 27 weeks - I'm slowing down!) and one of them, without missing a beat, says, "Well good for you for being so well-nourished!". :love

Your midwives sound aewsome, Tracy. :)
Last night, I was 192 on the scale. Still 190 on mine. I told my midwife that even though I know it's healthy weight, it's still going to be demoralizing to hit 200 lbs, and she laughed and said she should hand out coupons to Dairy Queen or something when people get to 200... apparently, I"m not the only one who feels that way. :)

I was about 40 lbs overweight to start with. According to me, I had gained 21 at my OB visit a week ago, but he said I'd only gained 15 and wasn't in the least bit concerned. This is my first, and I hope you ladies are right about breastfeeding really taking the lbs off. FWIW, I've had ZERO morning sickness, but I eat pretty normally.

day_sleeper-- I didn't have MS with this babe, either. In fact, I haven't had much of anything: no cravings (I did have aversions, but I think that ws due to my Gestational Diabetes).
I'm glad that your OB wasn't worried about your weight. Mine is, but only because of my GD. She's more worried about my diet than my weight.

29 weeks: 21 lbs. But I was 15 pounds over what I was before my last two, so I would say 35 lbs...
I usually gain 50-55 lbs with each and take it off breastfeeding by a year or so. :wink

Ok- I hate to burst any bubbles, but I have had the opposite experience with bf and weight loss. With my 1st 2 at my 3 wk post-partum check I was 5lbs away from prebaby weight and at the 6wk ppcheck I was 10lbs away! I am so hungry after the baby comes I always put 5 back on and there it stays for atleast a year! :irked: Surely I am not the only one who doesn't lose weight but actually gains weight with bf!!! I am so unbelievably hungry PP it is almost embaressing the amount of food I can put away. My dh says he has to watch his hands at dinner as he doens't want a fork in them!
anarchamama
11-05-2005, 09:10 AM
I never gained any with BF, but I certainly continued to pack the food away tat first year! So I'm sure that slowed down my loss, but after that I think the casual nursing helped me to take those last pounds off (well ok they weren't all gone when I got PG agagin but some of them were!)
I am now 29 weeks and I think I have gained about 30 pounds. With Ds I gained 50. I am not so worried about the gain as I am about hauling it around after ds for the next three months. My hips and feet are already killing, I can't imagine I'm going to add another 20 pounds and faster! YIkes!
Cheers

I was so shocked at how hungry I was after my first was born. Bfing definitely made me more hungry than being pregnant. I did lose the weight quickly though but when I slowed down nursing I gained some back. I had to relearn what my body needed I was so used to eating as much as I wanted and whatever I wanted. So I started this pg about 5 lbs heavier.
I'm 27 weeks and have gained about 25 lbs. I gained 15 lbs in 8 weeks but I'm slowing down now, which is normal for me. Those 5-6 months are just huge gainers for me. I'm hoping to stay under 40 lbs.
