I have been going to see a very nice ob/gyn for the past 1.5 years. The thing is, I'm pretty certain I don't want her (or her practice mates) as my obstetrician. For one thing, I am hoping to give birth in an alternative birth center in town (located in a hospital), and she is affiliated with a different hospital. Also - she kind of makes me feel dumb, which is not cool.

SO! I just found out I'm pregnant (with #1!), and now I don't know what to do. I just called and made my first appointment to see her (not until Oct. 25). But should I switch docs now, while it's so early? Or should I see her for my first appointment and then move? I don't want to "lead her on" but I feel funny switching so early for some reason.

Thoughts? Experiences?

TIA!

since you already know you don't want her I would switch as soon as possible.

I would switch as soon as possible. I switched mid pregnancy and it was a pain in the butt. Congrats on the new babe

Generally speaking, insurance-wise, it's a PITA to change midway through. Do it now. Why bother seeing her once?

If you already know you don't want her or anyone in that practice to attend your birth, what will you gain by going to that appointment? My suggestion? Switch now before you get in there and feel guilty about leaving. Besides that, it will give you more time to switch again if you don't like your second choice. Take care!

Thanks, mamas! :D

I'm going to make an appointment with someone else (that was recommended on here in the tribes board) and cancel my old one. Y'all are right - there seems no need to drag this break-up out any longer!
