I guess in a way this question has a lot to do with where I reside, but does anyone else find it more comfortable to sleep without blankets, and with your shirt rolled up so your belly hangs out? I get so hot at night, it's ridiculous, and because we live with DP's parents, I have NO control over the air conditioner...

Also, at work sometimes I have moments where I'm practically drenched in sweat, is this some form of pregnancy hot flashes? Does anyone else experience this? :o

I do I do!!! .... actually its most of why i'm UP right now (nearly 5 am) the hotflash thing... and i finally just decided to sleep in a sports bra .. lets most of my upper body hang out but am "decent" should a kid walk/stumble in and when the hot flashes pass and i'm cold again.. i have the balnkets right there plus a DH who is like furnace..lol

when i get the "flashes" usually i fel a little like i'm suffocating almost, like things are closing in and i need to move and get free and cool off and feel real dizzy ... this is definelty making me NOT look forward to menopause!!!! :p

I can't stand to sleep in anything at all - I've always been a naked sleeper. I do go from freezing to burning up at night - throwing covers on and off all night long.

It does not depend where you live! This is my 2nd pregnancy and in the first one, DD was born on a beautiful sunny day, after a snow storm. By the end of my pregnancy, I remember DH waking me up, because my body was complete cold and I was off the blankets. I was so hot. It is still warm here in NY, but I can see the same thing happening with this pregnancy! Maybe is a snap shop of menopause ... :LOL

In our house we sleep in only underwear. Even in the winter I will just pile on the blankets / turn up the heater. But I HAVE to be covered up, even if it is really hot I have to have something covering me. It has nothing to do with climent, it's the same rather I am visiting family in KS or CA. :)

sometimes the only way i can settle in is with a very cool and pretty wet cloth over my neck, face, head, etc. (delightful with a squeeze of dr. bronner's lavendar soap on it!) often i will soak my hair just for the evaporative cooling effect. try it, it's nice. you can keep a cloth and water bottle by your bed in case you need it in the night!

You could always sleep naked - might be more comfortable.

I'm driving my DH nuts because of how hot I get in the nighttime. I usually sleep in an XL t-shirt. He is using tons of blankets, etc. - I have nothing. He hates AC so all summer I was uncomfortably hot with the windows open - so now I get to keep them open even though it's cool! Payback!

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I will most definitely try soaking my hair and keeping some water and cool towels near my bed. As for the sleeping naked, I can't do that... Dp likes to come in before he leaves for work to say good bye and doesnt close the door back when he leaves, he thinks the air will circulate better and cool me off better (i don't think the rest of the family would appreciate seeing me in the buff)... :nut
