How much of a short article can I type out in a post? I need some feedback on an article and I don't want to run into copyright issues.

Is there a percentage? Do I have to merely cite the reference? Can I do key paragraphs and paraphrase the rest?

Thanks.

Check this site for information on the "Fair Use" laws that would apply

I once C&P'd a few paragraphs of an article, and a Mod asked me to cut it down to a few sentences, or just provide the link.

If you're just copying 100 words or less, I think it's ok. Not 100% sure of the exact rules though.

100 words or less, and provide a link.:D

What it actually says:
You may post:
A link directing readers to a discussion or article
100 words or less from an article as long as those 100 words are not a substantial part of the piece. If you are quoting from a short work such as a poem or a short article then 100 words may not be an acceptable fair use allowance. You should restrict yourself to a minimal quote from the piece. Anything more requires permission to print/reproduce in writing from the copyright holder and placed within your post.
Any posts that do not adhere to these guidelines will be deleted by the moderator or administrator.

I have no link for it. It came via mailbox.

Give a bit of article and let us see if we can find it.

Also if this was a forward or an activist type thing that expects people to share it may be ok...do they tell people to share??
