*I don't post over here cause until recently we haven't had a child old enough to discipline. Now that we have DSS here our goal is to gd it but I wanted to share something with you*

We went to the movies last night and while we were waiting for the show to start (we had planned to see two movies but one was sold out so we had some time til the one we got tickets for) DH wanted to smooke so we headed outside. Behind us there was a family also smoking. There was a grandma, two little kids, a woman VERY pregnant, and two guys (friends of the family possibly). One of the little kids was on those leash systems (which I have issues with anyway....that another post) and the other was just hanging out. As they came walking out the mom (the pregnant lady) says to the child not on the leash, "Stand right there! Hold onto that post and don't move". The little girl immediately did as she was told and was entertaining herself by twirling around it and being a little kid. Not once did she get in anyone's way or fall or do any damage of any sort. The mom turns around and says loudily, "Don't you move a single inch or I'll beat you, understand?" :( I just looked at DH sadly and he said to ignore them, they were idiots. Then the little kid on the leash tried walking around his mom (who by that point had smoked two cigarettes) to see something and the grandma, who had been holding the leash the entire time, jerks it back and tells him as he about topples to his butt, "Don't go over there. Don't be a bad boy or mom will have to spank you." :(
I was so sad for those kids.......to each their own but why do people think it's ok to do that crap in public! I understand getting frustrated but keep it to yourself or remove yourself from the situation! Ugghhh, very frustrating...neither kid looked very happy. Oh and as one of the guys was leaving he said something about being a mess and the grandma says, "Well that's what you get when you insist on taking kids to dinner and not leave them with a babysitter"

:( I see that and wish I could say something. I usually try and at least smile at the kids and let them know that not everyone thinks they're a burden.

That sucks you had to see that and that thsoe kids have to live that. :hug

Man, that sucks. I've never run into that, but I don't know what I'd do. Sad :( Stupid people.

I don't feel that way about "to each his own." I'm sorry- but it's NOT OK to beat, spank, or threaten kids. (that's not directed at you lol just that thought in general)

Was going to say something about the "to each their own" as well. Guess I did! What garbage. Those poor kids!!! It sounds like it would have been a good idea to get a liscence plate and report them to CPS. What you've described sounds very extreme. If they're doing that in public... Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

To each their own was meant to be towards parenting styles. :LOL I forget to clarify from time to time. :D I know I have a tendency to be ultra jugdemental so I was trying not to be in this case. After all everyone parents differently but I would think basic compassion for another human being would run in all of us. Ugh!
