I have a 17 mo old boy who has taken to biting me -- shoulder, cheek (fake a kiss, and wham!) and occasionally the nipple. He thinks it is funny, even though I have never cracked a smile. I've been stern (voice, words), put him down for alone time, used "it hurts mama", etc. but nothing works. He often now smiles before doing it, which helps me get out of the way and protect myself, but I need some experienced wise advice on how to handle this! Any ideas?

I wish I had some advice! My son is 18 months old, but it is not just me that he bites. He bites children and other adults as well. My DH and I are at our wits end. Nothing that we have tried seems to make any difference. Sometimes he bites out of frustration, but sometimes he seems to do it for no reason at all. It is worse when he is teething, but this isn't always the cause.
Any mamas out there who could offer some advice, I would love to hear it! Our friends are starting to not want to bring their kids around him for fear that they will be bitten.

DD was (fingers crossed) a biter :hide:. The best thing I could come up with after reading many many resources, was that avoidance of the situations where biting will occur is one of the best ways to handle it. Really watch and learn their triggers. Avoid, distract, remove, redirect. Good luck!
