Hello ladies, I'm wondering if it's normal to lose weight in the 3rd trimester? I weigh myself once a week (same time of the day) and up until week 28 I had been gaining every week (I think like 30 pounds in total at that point). But I noticed during week 29 that I had lost half a pound, so I weighed myself again 2 days later and had lost another whole pound and now this morning (3 days later) I've yet lost another half pound. So I was 184 lbs at 28 weeks and now I'm at 182 at 30 weeks (the same that I weighed at 27 weeks). The weights go like this: 182, 184, 183.5, 182.5 and now 182 this morning. What's up with that? Should I be concerned? I tried measuring my uterus and I can only hope I'm doing it wrong b/c my obgyn measured me 27 centimeters at 27 weeks and when I tried to do it last week I measured myself at 25. Is it possible for it to shrink? I have an appointment with a birth center in Florida on the 27th (I'm moving in two weeks) but I'm wondering if that's too long to wait. What do you ladies think?
Thanks in advance.

Honestly, your scale isn't accurate enough to really tell you anything within the precision of a few pounds. On top of that, even if you weigh yourself at the same time each time, I'd be willing to say that a few pounds is within normal variations.
The fundal height is a tricky thing. The difference you measured is likely due to having a different person doing the measuring.
If you have major alarm bells going off in your head, then call your ob for a consultation. If these are the only thing bothering, then I wouldn't worry.
For me, my weight gain has slowed significantly in the third trimester, but I only weigh myself on the mechanical balance scale at the mw office once every 4 weeks.

Actually this scale is very accurate, it's one of those newer digital ones and I've used it enough to "know" it if that makes sense. Otherwise I might not be so concerned. And I know 2 pounds isn't a big number- I think I'm so concerned b/c I'm pg in the 3rd trimester when supposedly the baby is gaining weight by leaps and bounds, kwim?
Fortunately no major alarm bells are going off. The baby seems to be as active as ever. :heartbeat Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

I didn't actually lose weight, but had a lower weight yesterday at my apt. due to using a different scale. So on the chart it looks like I lost weight. My mw wasn't concerned though beyond saying that I need to make sure I'm still eating well and taking in enough. Then she asked about the scale and we figured it out. I will say that I usually gain 5-7 lbs. but had only gained like 3lbs. So my weight gain is slowing down. If you're not gaining a lot in general, probably a little drop back is nothing.

My weight gain has slowed a ton. I haven't gained anything in a week and a half and I was gaining a few lbs. a week. I wouldn't be surprised if I only gain 5-10 lbs. from here on out, but since I've already gained 36!!! I don't think it's anything to worry about.
The fundal height difference is probably attributable to having different people measure.

Me! Last time I was checked I had lost a pound. As long as you are eating well and resting well, don't worry about it. It is common to lose a few pounds in the end. Don't know why, but it is. With DS I gained 40 pounds (20 of them in the last three months). With this baby, I've gained 25 pounds so far and I expect to gain about 10 more at the most. But, I anticipate that one week I might gain 4 pounds. The next week, I might lose a pound. The next week gain a pound...and so forth. No biggie, in my opinion.

I lost with both pregnancies and my children were full term and healthy.

Thanks for your replies ladies :)
It's reassuring to know that others have either maintained or lost weight in the 3rd trimester. I don't know why (probably b/c I'm naive and it's my first pg) but I thought I would be packing on the pounds this trimester. :shrug oh well, what do I know? (can't say that I'm disappointed ;) )

Just thought I'd throw in that in my last pregnancy I ended up weighing even *less* than I did when I began. (I think I lost eight pounds) And I ended up losing most in the third trimester. Katherine was 8.5 pounds, so I think she was okay ;)
This time around I lost right at the beginning but am finally back up to my pre-preggo weight... so really, after all is said and done having this baby, I'll end up lighter than when I started out.
Every person's body is different and has different needs. That's the beauty of pregnancy I think!!! Just eat a balanced diet and keep moving around ... you should be fine.
