Before I had my kids, I used to have fairly regular 32-34 day cycles. I could chart with ease. When I had #1, I had learned a shorthand way of charting that made it easy to conceive while on the road and not keeping written records.

I got AF for the first time 1 day after his 1st bd (was still bf'ing)....but it was never consistent! I'd go for 45, 60, sometimes 80 days between periods. Even after I weaned at 22 mos, it didn't regulate. dc #2 was conceived about 7 months after weaning #1, a surprise since I couldn't accurately chart or predict. Now she is turning 2, I've had about 3 periods since April, still bf, though she sleeps all night and sometimes only nurses 1x/day.

I don't seem to ever have any cervical fluid that's fertile, my temperatures are low low low, I spot for a couple days and then nothing happens, and my period always is a surprise (usually weeks after I've given up temp taking in frustration!) So....is this normal? Should I be looked at by a GYN? I feel pretty healthy, not underweight or sleep deprived. :help

I think that's normal, but I'm not a medical professional or anything. I think it just takes a while for some people to regulate. I still haven't had a period pp, but I have ewcm every couple of days for the past few months. so it would seem like I'm fertile, but so far no period so I guess I haven't been. :shrug I mean I think you'd be fine getting checked out, but I think it would just be a lot of tests to tell you that you just haven't regulated yet. I don't know.

low temps make me think thyroid problem, and the spotting and surprise bleeding make me think you're having anovulatory cycles. I would consult with your gyn/gp/mw about it
