Hmm, I would think if my kid is doing all that stuff, that a time out isn't working. How is a kid throwing himself against the wall or whatever "learning to gain control." Doesn't even make sense.... :scratch

Yes indeed, because the existence of any bad or extreme advice about time out proves that time out itself can never be used appropriately.

When I tried timeout w/my dd for hitting and biting the baby, she started wetting herself. I guess I should have taken that as a sign that she needed to stay in longer, silly me! And to think I got all alarmed and apologized to her. She must have been "manipulating me into feeling guilty."

Wow! I was so thrilled with his advice on parenting, I just could not wait till I got his advice on sex ... Geee!!! He must be the expert of anything under the sun. There is so much bad parenting all around, we really need this!

"Your child may fall down, yell, hit his head on the wall, urinate, or do a number of things in an effort to get out of the time-out", but hey, this is a MUCH better family environment than the untidy room he left behind!
