I am planning a hospital VBAC and have never used a doula. I really want to have a doula this time, but I really don't know what to ask to make sure she is the one for me.
What are some good questions for her? And, what should I look for in a doula assisting a VBAC.
Thanks for your help everyone!

I had a VBAC with my son. I had planned to have him at home, but transferred after 54 hours of labor. My midwife went with my as my doula and he was born 9 hours later (with the help of manual dilation and pitocin).
So - some things I'd ask:
1. How many VBAC attempts has she attended?
2. Of those, how many were "successful?"
3. Of those that resulted in cesareans, what was the reason for the cesarean?
4. What would be some reasons she would feel a cesarean would be best?
5. How long is she comfortable with you being in labor?
6. What interventions does she suggest? Avoid?
7. Has she worked with your particular doctors/midwives before?
8. Can she give you names of VBAC clients she has worked with before so that you can contact them for feedback?
9. How long will she remain with you after the birth?
10. Does she truly believe that a VBAC is the best choice in general and for your baby specifically?
