OK, I am only five days postpartum (baby number two) and had PPD with number one also. I was starting to feel anxiety even before I gave birth due to all of the changes in our live. New house, we just moved to a new state, DH has a new job, DS (3 years old) was having trouble adjusting to preschool, there were some medical complications going on etc... Anyhow, I started zoloft at 25mg and it seems my anxiety could be worse. I am not sure if it was just the birth or what. I am going to up it to 50mg since maybe the anxiety is just because I am not on a high enough dose and need to step it up. Paxil CR worked great for me in the past, but I gained lots of weight and was sleepy. I was told that zoloft is better for nursing anyhow, so I chose that route. Should I just wait it out on the zoloft or switch to the paxil? I am going to ask my doctor, but don't know when I can manage to get in for an appt. I would hate to switch so early, but really need something to start working soon.

Is this the first time you are taking this medication all together. If so then this med may be causing the added anxiety. This class of med. has put people into states of mania.
If you have taken this med before then your body is most likely just getting used to the drug again.
Either way it is NEVER good to change/or stop these medications without the supervision of a doctor.
My advice do not up your dose of change your med until you have spoken to your doctor,. If you call the office the answering service will answer and get a hold of the doctor for you. Tell them what is going on and You will get some guidance as to what to do about this problem..
Trust me been there done that to many times.......
Good Luck..and hope you are feeling better soon. :heartbeat

Both prozac and zoloft gave me severe anxiety (and prozac actually threw me into a depression) after just one dose. I immediately called the doctor on call and with each drug, I was told to get off immediate because the amount of anxiety it was causing was fairly abnormal. My advice would probably be to call the doctor who prescribed it and let them know your side effects...
