Inguinal Hernia

I was just diagnosed with this and am confused--I am planning a homebirth with a CPM. She sent me to an OB to have it looked at and they weren't very helpful. What can I do????? What should I not do??? Is surgery inevitable after the baby arrives???? I read in Spirital Midiwifery that these sometimes disappear on there own in the 2nd trimester but I'm 31 weeks. I never heard of the technical name for it, but it sounds like something I had with baby #2. it went away though, like in two days so maybe it wasn't the same. The only thing I'd suggest is going to google.com and typing in the condition and seeing what info is out there on the web. Good luck and keep me posted! Warmly, H.e.

HeatherE---what were your symptoms?? Mine is a large swollen " mass" on my pubic bone --leftside only. I'm fairly swollen all over in my pubic region but this is definately a specific area. I got a natal cradle and that seems to be taking some of the pressure off. thanks for responding

I was taking a shower about half way through preg. and felt a golf sized mass in the same spot you describe. No pain though and like I said, it went away quickly. I ggguess i didn't pay too much attention since it dissapeared so fast. My thought was maybe an infected hair follicle or a swollen lymph node. I don't think it could've been what you have.
