Hey all. :D Since our last weekly chat ended up being two weeks I figured we might as well have a bi monthly thread instead :D

Question of the week... How are you handling the exhaustion of the first trimester with your current workload (including housework/other kids). What is your current workload, and how will it change when this baby comes?

Well, I'm a chiropractor, run my own practice. I work in a group practice with 6 other women (I'm the only chiro) practitioners. I've been working half time for the past year, and love it. I work one full day, and 3 half days. When we started the IVF protocal, i stretched out the time between patients so that I wouldn't be rushed... and I'm keeping it that way until further notice. :) I'm just starting to have that 'i'm tired' feeling all the time and can't be too effective at work if I'm not rested. So, I'm seeing less patients, but still working about the same number of hours. It seems I'm pretty worthless on the weekends, Today I spent most of the day lying on the couch! Thankfully my husband is awesome and completely picks up the slack... He's doing many of the things I normally do around the house, he did the grocery shopping this week (and last) and is currently making some soup for dinner. :heartbeat
As for when this baby comes... I plan on taking at least a full 8 weeks off (probably 12), and then gradually going back to seeing patients. I'll probably go back one half day for a while, then two, and eventually work three half days for the first year.

What about you??

Well, I just found out I am pregnant, so my work load hasn't changed at all. I work PT in the public school system & have my doula business. I will keep the teaching position until school ends in May & then I don't know what will happen. My class is aging out & may move to another teacher for the 06-07 year. If I do have a class, then I may continue to work PT. Not sure how that will work either since I will be homeschooling my son. Anyways, to drag this out :blah , I don't know what I will be doing :nut

I am not quite yet tired, but I am sure that is coming :LOL I am in school half-time, have two kids to care for, and my own homebased business. I am just going to let it all fall apart I think :nut
No, I have actually decided that I need to give up being a procrastinator and work ahead in school and around the house so that I can pace myself a bit more. With my business, I have just given up stressing about any of it. That is how I am coping. If I have the stuff to sell, fine... if not, oh well!

i'm going to bed almost as soon as i come home on the weekdays. it is crazy how tired i am sometimes! i don't feel it all day long, but that doesn't stop me from crawling in bed at 9 pm every night. i start a new job on monday. i really hope i have the strength to keep going. and not to mention my birthday is coming up and my sister wants to take me out. now, i haven't told anyone that i am pregnant yet. how to explain to my sister why i am not drinking on my 30th birthday???? not to mention how to get through dinner, a club and she is talking about taking me dancing??? i'm going to so fall asleep.... :nut

I am not handling it well and need to do better. I'm still pulling my usual routine of going to bed between 11 and midnight, waking at 7am, and not napping. I need more. I end each day absolutely exhausted!

I need to get to bed earlier, so with that in mind... goodnight! :D

I'm a sahm with two boys - 4 and almost 2. My best time is morning, so I try to plan something for us then - a walk to the park, up to the mall to run errands, walk with Grandpa, etc. Then it's lunch and nap time. Ds#2 still will nap, especially if I let him nurse the whole time! Ds#1 knows that it's quiet time, which means like 2 hours of TV for him :bag: while I sleep. But, I need my sleep more than he needs to not be watching TV, so I don't worry about it too much! :innocent I get very tired the first and third trimesters when pregnant; usually I catch a little break during months 4-6.

In terms of trying to handle work; I try to get a load of laundry or two done in the mornings while we are doing other things, and my dh is really good about picking up stuff when he gets home (he'll typically get the dishes all done and the dishwasher ran before bed). :love

Unfortunately I'm not sleeping well at all at night (again, pretty par for the course with me and pregnancy). We stay up late (midnight or so), and usually I have to come fall asleep on the couch about 1am. But, I tend to sleep in until about 8:30 with the boys, so it's not too bad. But especially since this is my first pregnancy with not working at all (I was teaching full time with ds#1 and only one class a semester with ds#2), I know I can take it easy and the house will get cleaned when it gets cleaned. :wink

I am working out of the home part-time as I have since ds #1 was born. 4 days a week, 8-1. I am so freaking excited to say that I am planning my resignation for the first week in December and taking a GIANT leap of faith and trying to start my own home based business with my Mom. Phew!

I am literally exhausted, feel like I am running on fumes most days. Ds still nurses throughout the night and between that and having crazy preggo dreams, I have not been sleeping well. By the time I put ds to bed around 8 or nine, I ususally pass out, too. Housework....I am really trying to cut myself some slack here because I just cannot keep up right now. Dh does help ALOT, but I really just can't run around right now doing a million things like I was a few months ago ;)

But all in all, I tell myself when I am exhausted and can't see straight that it is SO worth it and I really try to savor every minute of being pregnant.....it is such a special time. :love

lots of love ladies!

Actually, right now all I'm dealing with is sore boobs and overwhelming nausea - no actual cookie tossing, but a constant level of nausea....I'm just not tired yet. I was tired all the time from the get go with DS, but for some reason I'm not feeling tired...I know it may come....or, maybe I'm not "allowing" myself to be tired, since DS is quite energetic!! :LOL

I do get enough sleep at night though, I'm usually asleep by 10pm and we all get up around 6am, so 8 hours is pretty good as far as I'm concerned...

I plan on working from home as long as I can, and then taking the full 12 weeks off for leave, then doing what I did last time: Working part time for 4 weeks, and then back full time after that, so I can ease back into the flow.

I started with this past paycheck socking a small chunk away to help out during my leave, and gonna see if I'm up to it to pick up some OT nights after DS goes to sleep...we'll need all the help we can get while I'm off work on maternity leave!

I'm a sahm and not handling it like I should. My house is suffering and my poor boys aren't getting as much attention as they are used to. Right now I can't seem to get through the day without a nap. Dh works nights for the next 2 weeks so I can sneak them in with him home. THe nausia is kicking my butt. I've only thrown up once but always feeling like I'm going to sucks. I need to get a seaband bracelet.

Question of the week... How are you handling the exhaustion of the first trimester with your current workload (including housework/other kids). What is your current workload, and how will it change when this baby comes?

Not very well! I'm really lucky though. I'm a full-time graduate student, and I have class three days a week - not a terribly bad deal. One of these days, though, I'm gone from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. - and it's a Monday! The day from hell. I am soooo exhausted by the time the evening class rolls around, I can barely keep my eyes open (and it's cataloging - not the most interesting of subjects to try to stay awake for!).

My house is teetering on being declared a pit of despair. Thank god it's the last week of the CSA, because I can't keep up with processing all these fresh vegetables (washing so many greens...and then trying to eat them when all I want is mac & cheese!). DH is good for some things like laundry and dishes, but not so much for general pick up and not at all for cooking. I handed him a bag of green beans the other day and said "here, make dinner". and he did - he made a dinner of only green beans! Jeez.

I really feel the exhaustion when I'm in class the most and trying to pay attention. I used to be such a perfectionist with school - it is so not my priority anymore! My motivation is just shot for getting everything *just right*. Now my priority is just getting something done to turn in. :LOL

As far as the future: I graduate at the very end of April (if I can keep my motivation somewhat up!). Then I figure I'll just nest for the next month and half and go crazy cleaning and fixing stuff up. I don't plan on working for a while - I'm really lucky that we can survive on DH's income alone. Eventually I'd like to start volunteering at a local library again, and then down the road even more, i'd ideally like to work at a library very part-time.

Oh, good question, Korin! :thumb

I'm a stay at home mom and my husband works long hours (he works in the finance industry and also part time at a home improvement store) so I'm on my own a lot. It's been pretty lo-key around here - and J has probably watched more tv and played on her own more than ever :o I'm just a zombie right now.

Usually I would just stay up and do housework (okay, knit :LOL ) after J went to bed, but lately I've been crashing around the same time she does. However, she's a late sleeper (don't hate me mamas, but she has slept in until past 8 most mornings for over a year now) and I've been having my burst of energy in the mornings, so now mornings are my time (for knitting and ignoring the housework :W).

Yesterday morning I was browning some chicken to make a casserole later (planning on freezing a lot of meals for the upcoming weeks when I know I'll be feeling too tired or yucky to cook) and the smell just got to me. I had to have J run and get Chris to finish the chicken while I tossed my breakfast in the bathroom. I've been getting sick for a few weeks now, off and on, but it sure doesn't seem to be bothering my appetite! :wink

I'm so glad J is potty trained because I couldn't imagine dealing with stinky diapers on top of this queasy stomach. You mamas with kiddos still in dipes have my sympathy and respect :bow

Chris is picking up some of my slack as far as house work goes (and he's taken over caring for the pets and run some errands for me) but really, it's just gonna have to slide for a while until I get some energy again. Maybe when nesting kicks in I'll have a clean house again. J doesn't mind the mess and neither do Chris or I and I figure anyone who would visit and be bothered by it is more than welcome to run the vac or do some dishes if they are so inclined :p

Caroline248 - welcome and congratulations! :D :baby

Mary - we're future homeschooler's too :hs: And, I think it's awesome that you are a doula! :thumb (do we have other doulas on this ddc? I think we do, right?) My mom was/is a doula and taught Lamaze classes. (I say "was/is" because she is supposed to be retired from it - she's a high school guidance counselor now - but she keeps coming out of retirement to attend births of her children or friends :wink )

I literally feel like it is all falling apart around me, but trying not to beat myself up about it too badly because I know it will improve eventually. I have 3 doula clients due in November and I am currently wondering how I am going to survive it, but assume I will since I have done it before. They are the last I have for the year and then I will space them out a little better next year and I think I will stop by March. I also teach childbirth classes and am in the middle of 2 different series right now. I plan to teach at least 2 more series next year before baby arrives. A little over a year ago, I started a birth network and it is probably my biggest stressor by far. We have a borad meeting tonight and I intend to address the fact that they have about 8 months to become pretty independent and do what needs to be done...learning to delegate! LOL Of course all of this comes on top of my 3 kids (4.5, 3.5 and 20 months) and my very messy house. My dh is absolutely wonderful and can take care of the kids, house, etc. with no instruction which definitely cuts down on my anxiety to do it all myself. I am so tired that I could honestly sleep all day!

As far as after baby goes, I won't take doula clients again until the baby is 6-9 months old and then not many at that. I will begin teaching again next August or so.

This is where I am with the nausea too! I am only 5 weeks along & constant seasick feelings! With dd#1 I only had a little bit of nausea between weeks 8- 10, so the fact that I am already feeling crappy is making me nervous. I am mostly focusing on being a SAHM right now, but I do run a women's writing group Wed. nights...which we'll have to see how the tiredness progresses...I may have to move it to Sat. afternoons.

The fatigue & nausea haven't affected my time w/ my daughter & husband that much yet - I nap when Caroline naps...and I'm very lucky to have a dh who does tons around the house (whether I'm pregnant or not :love )

Well, this is my first and I work full-time, more than 40 hours/week (not at home) and I haven't told my workplace yet, so it has been a little weird when I have felt so tired. DP has been great - she just did a *ton* of projects around the house this weekend (I had to work 7 days this past week). Fortunately, still no nausea here <knocking on wood> so it is mostly the fatigue. I don't have to go in to work until later today, but I wish I could just stay home for a few days since I worked all weekend (it was fun, too, in addition to being tiring - I brought a group of youth from my program to the bioneers conference in san raphael).

As for post-baby, I have accrued sick time forever so I will at least have 5 weeks off paid, maybe more depending on how much time off I take between now and June. Ideally, I'd like to take the whole summer off because both of our sisters are getting married in August, too. We haven't really figured out what we will do about work post-baby... one of our incomes won't pay the bills, so maybe one will work FT and one PT? We're not sure yet.

I am still in shock that I am actually pregnant and the tiredness I have been feeling is valid! My thirteen month old doesn't sleep through the night yet and we are still nursing strong, so I am sure that will become a problem as the weeks move on. My older two are in school full time, and my four year old goes three mornings a week. I am working part time, but that is flexible and it gets too much, I can leave. Thankfully I don't NEED to work, but I can take the younger kids with me, so I do it.

I have to tell work on Wednesday. I work at a screen printing shop and I am exposed to chemicals during the cleaning process, so I will have to tell them I can't do that job anymore. Otherwise I would have waited...

I am doing a terrible job. I'm a SAHM and it is ridiculous how little I can accomplish in a day. My 13 month-old keeps me busy, and between the nausea & fatigue, I can barely function. Cooking has been especially hard (the smells). Dh is gone all the time since he is a med student, so I am really on my own. Although, today he picked up the dog poop in the yard when he came home, cause I don't think I could have taken it.

I am totally exhausted and I am also nausuas for a portion of the day. I do get 8 hours nightly and DD gets up late in the morning- she never was a morning person. But at least one night a week I seem to crash around 8pm. That might be tonight.
Today we had a Momsgroup meeting in the morning and of course today was my day to bring snacks. Then it was my day to volunteer at DD's preschool so of course its a great time to go to the library. So we walked two classes over to the library. I have to go start dinner while I have some energy left but usually when DD goes to school 3 afternoons a week I either work out or nap while she is there. Lately its been napping.

But I was up late last night to watch the White Sox get to the World Series. As a lifetime Chicagoeon, I have been waiting for one of our teams to get there, so it was worth witnessing history. Especially after the Cubs (my real team) blew it 2 years ago. But its bittersweet and any Chicago team is better than none! But its hurting me today with this crazy schedule.
Tomorrow I have an appt for the Dr and then we teach baptism class tomorrow night. So I might crash tomorrow as well.

But yes, the exhuastion is always there lingering in the background. Actually its a nice reminder this is a healthy pregncy and it should keep. kwim?

At not quite 5 weeks, the nausea comes & goes. The tiredness is amazing! I slept about 8-9 hours last night & I'm beat at 5:30. That's with laying down for awhile. I work PT, so it's better than when I was pregnant with DD. DH has always been cleaner than I, so that's covered!

Well, Dh and I both work at home and I help him run his business as well as running my own, so I keep pretty busy. I have been trying to lay down and take a nap with dd in the afternoon, but like today, she wouldn't take one. I don't know what I will do when the baby comes. I can't really take more than a few days off, since with the internet, the orders keep coming. And we can't close down for a few weeks without really hurting our business. Hopefully I can take it easy for a few weeks and get in a few extra naps. The housework is what normally suffers. I need a maid. ;)

Hey, I'm new!

I'm feeling a little weird, mostly because I don't feel very PG. And I usually do (if I am, that is ;) ). I'm tired, and I'm a little extra dumb, and I'm craving some odd foods (spinach salad, anyone?) and I've had the odd wave of nausea. But I'm only 4wks 4 days I think, so maybe that's normal - you'd think I'd know by the 4th time I got pregnant!!
Just had a pos test this morning - not a dark line, but a line is a line is a line....right?

Question of the week: Question of the week... How are you handling the exhaustion of the first trimester with your current workload (including housework/other kids). What is your current workload, and how will it change when this baby comes?

Not that tired yet, so it's ok. I'm a SAHM, and I do the accounting for our farm, plus I'm a Tupperware lady :LOL so I stay very busy. I'll probably cut down on the Tupperware a little (the accounting can't not be done) while I'm pg, and some more for awhile after the baby comes **which I still can't believe it's going to**.

Congratulations, everyone!

Mamajava - Congratulations!!!! :jumpers: a line is a line is a line :wink Welcome to the June 2006 ddc!

Wow! The rest of you are making me feel tired just reading about what all of you have going on :coffee Doulanichole, your oldest is a just a few months older than my only and I keep trying to picture how tired I'd be with 2 more plus being pregnant ... I fear we'd be living in our jammies and eating cereal 3 meals a day (wait, we do that sometimes anyway :wink ) Seriously, mamas you rock! Never underestmate the powers of a mama, huh? Morning sickness, tired, and still conquering the world! :thumb

I'm still tired and my stomach is sorta queasy, but I feel pretty good. I have a burst of energy in the mornings and then just lay around the rest of the day, playing polly pockets or legos or whatever with J and eating/grazing my way through the day. I've been watching the baby shows on TLC a bit this week ... every other A Baby Story ticks me off but it's entertaining at any rate :D

I officially have out my "fat pants" I read somewhere that my uterus is now the size of a tangerine. That sounds tiny, but there wasn't room for me AND a tangerine in my pants :p I'm not into maternity yet, but definity wearing the next size up. Not really a tummy "bump" yet, just bloated ... but what a wonderful reason to be bloated for! I still have that "pinch me" feeling ... it's been a week since :+ and I still feel like it's a dream.

Best Wishes all you June 06 mamas! :hug

Thanks, Kara!

Isn't it funny (and most likely psychological) that today I started feeling, well....pregnant. As in, I slept in, gagged when cleaning up some stuff in the kitchen, and feel kinda draggy. But also that giddy happiness that I have for the entire 9 months.
I called a midwife today and booked an appointment! I'm so excited because my last two were born with the aid of a (fantastic) doctor in a rural hospital. I decided to have a little variety this time (and better support) and go with a midwife's care. I will still deliver in hospital, but the hosp I'll be going to now has jacuzzi tubs, queen size beds, etc, etc. As opposed to a shower and typical delivery type bed with the rails and the leg thingamajiggers, no air conditioning. But they have better patient care in the rural hospital since there are less mothers. Hoping that since it's a m/w, I'll get a little better looked after. Its my 3rd, anyways, so I don't need anyone to teach me how to breastfeed or bath a baby, but a little TLC never hurt ;)

Off to take a nap :D

:topic well kind of anyway...

I've been watching the baby shows on TLC a bit this week ... every other A Baby Story ticks me off but it's entertaining at any rate :D

You & me both sister! Of course lets not forget that its sponsored by Nestle and the producers have to show the baby chugging down their products. Plus we need to show the mama flat on her back being fed artificial hormones and getting numb. Real long way to get a baby out. But wait, its taking too long so lets give her a csection :irked:
As you can see I have also been watching in my prgncy state. :LOL But now they have this show on afterwards called Bring home Baby. I thought it would be good to show dd what its like. Bad choice I realized when the intro had bottles coming in on parade. Then all the mothers have an uphill battle nursing.Oh well.
I guess I'm going to stick to my original plan and start going to LLL meetings again so she can see mamas nursing the babes. She dosen't remember me doing that and she keeps popping bottles in her babies mouths. I cannot believe this since she was nursed for 30 months!!

We went for our first appt. Since my uterus looks well feel normal for prgcny and all that other good stuff, she wants me back in 4 weeks to check for the heartbeat. But of course if I get spotting etc anytime before that, to call.

Thanks, Kara, but it's all I really know so I guess it's not all that impressive. I found out I was pg with dd #2 when dd #1 was only 5 months old so things have always been kinda hectic...in a good way, of course.

Seriously, what can I say about A Baby Story? Makes me yell and scream at the tv so probably not good for the bp. It can be used as a good learning experience though....here's what NOT to do! LOL

Mamajava - congrats and welcome!

Amys1st - glad you had a good appt. I have another one next Tuesday with one of my favorite mw's and although I am nervous, I am hopeful that it will be good.

Christina - I agree, a little TLC never hurt :wink I think, personally, that mamas should get extra TLC for the first 18 years at least :LOL

Amy - Yes, A Baby Story ... I have a love/hate relationship with that show, for sure. For a long time I couldn't watch it (too painful while we were ttc) and now I watch it and cringe most of the time ... but every once in a while a great birth will be on and I just sit and watch in awe. Course, then the next episode will be just terrible and I'll be cranky all over again :irked:

Nicole - ah, yes, hectic in a good way. I'm familiar with that concept :wink I'm still in awe of mamas for all that they do, though. I mean that who do it well, really do it well ... you know what I mean? There's this great quote by Ariel Gore. Its from her book the Mother Trip and it says, "surely there's a positive word for disaster?" :D

I noticed there are lots of knitting mamas on this ddc (hi, Korin!) ... so, what do you have on the needles right now? :knit I'm working on the Hot Lava cardigan (thinking how cute it'll look - hopefully - over a big ole belly)

Jillian asked me the other day if there was a baby in my tummy. She's been asking this for about a year, ever since my sister got pregnant with my nephew. It was really awesome to be able to tell her YES! :love She just smiled and didn't say too much. Have the rest of you with older kiddos told them yet? What do they think?

Best Wishes June 06 mamas!

Ok, now the fatigue has hit me. For the last 2 days I have felt like I have been hit by a mac truck. So, my kids are eating cereal straight from the box, I wear sweatpants all day, and I conquer only jobs that make a big difference in appearance so it looks like I have been busier than I have been :) Example: rather than scrubbing the sink, I choose to clean the floors or do the dishes because my husband is more likely to notice these things and it makes me look like I am keeping house well :) I have also been making my kids clean. They don't do a super job at it, but it is better than me having to do it all alone :LOL

So, I was talking on the phone to MIL about 20 minutes ago, and she asked to say hi to ds, who is 13 months. After holding the phone to his ear, he threw such a fit when I took it back that I hung up with her and gave him the phone to play with. Twenty minutes later the doorbell rings, and there's two cops standing there! They said, "We just had a 911 call with sounds of a baby playing in the background." I went to find the phone and sure enough, it was still off the hook! How embarrassing! I apologized profusely and the cops said it happens all the time. Note to self - don't let the baby play with the phone - sheesh! :bag: :bag: :bag:

I'm a SAHW and I just help out dh with his interior design business. I do typing, bills, copies, run to the post office, etc. So it is pretty easy to get time off. Soon dh will be getting an office (he works out of the extra bedroom now) so it'll actually be easier then because I'll be doing the stuff from the house and not going to the office. We're planning on getting our laptop set-up with wireless internet so I can rest and be online later on.

I'm actually doing pretty good. The queasiness I was having seemed to have been my body's way of saying "Hey stupid! You aren't eating enough!" and since I had the u/s and started making an effort to pack away the food it is gone. Now, don't you gals be sending me m/s vibes! I'll be having a tough enough time in a couple of months!

I do get sleepy and just plan in a nice nap. I used to schedule it bu now I just lay down when I start to drag. I usually take 2-3 hours a day but not all at once.

I am taking the rest of the year to get myself back into my Flylady routine. I know a lot of people hate her, but I always tell them to just take her ideas and adapt them to your own life. I won't get into it but trust me that my daily/weekly/monthly plans look very little like hers. I was doing really well about 2 years ago and the house ran so smoothly and I had so much free time. I want that backand I figure by January I'll be getting too big to do much so if the house is running itself it won't be much of a problem for whoever ends up helping me.

. So, my kids are eating cereal straight from the box, I wear sweatpants all day, and I conquer only jobs that make a big difference in appearance so it looks like I have been busier than I have been :)

He he he ... Erika, that's how I clean even when I'm not pregnant :wink Every few months I'll get really disgusted and then think "I need to do something about this" so I sign up for FLYlady. Get sick of emails after a few weeks and then go back to my normal ways. And so the cycle continues :down

Miriam .... so, has it sunk in yet? :love :LOL

I haven't been as sick this week as I was over the weekend. Mostly just cranky :irked: Chris and Jillian went to get taco bell for me the other night (yes, I know ... but I NEEDED a 7 layer burrito :wink ) and I think they were both glad to get away from mama-cranky-pants. Can you say mood swings? :flipped

I do not have m/s, I have all day nausah (How the heck do you spell it anyway :flipped ) that sometimes is not bad but its always there in the background. I'm tired but I started pacing myself.

One thing I do is if the energy is there, I do a very important thing that needs to get done and over do it. Such as- Bill paying. I got everything done, DH has direct deposit etc so I know when things need to go and where. So I wrote out all the bills yesterday w post its on when to mail.

Also if I have energy, I wipe down counters one day, do a load of laundry another day, return a call the next day. You get the idea.

Getting a lot tireder....and looking kinda....fat. Hrm.

Hey for those of you with all day nausea, :hug. Been there. Make sure you don't get too hungry or tired. That makes it so much worse. Take it easy!

Kara: 7 layer burrito sounds pretty good right now! I've been eating frightening amounts of spinach salad, because its good for me and i'm craving it (and too keep me away from the ice cream!!). I've done well weight-wise with the 1st two babes, and I want to try to do it again! Not that it's that big a deal, but I know my body doesn't automatically gain gobs of weight when pg (I swear, some of my poor girlfriends do, doesn't seem to matter what they ear) so I don't need to make it gain too much ;) Plus it's easier afterwards to lose 25lbs then...well...more.

I have found that if I'm hungry it makes me more tired and felling really yucky.

Wish me luck- I have a late night scrapbooking crop tonight. We all know there is no way I will make it to midnight. But it starts at 6pm so I figure I can go to about 9 or 10pm. I usually run out of steam anyway after a 3 hr stint.

Amy, I'm right there with you with the all day nausea! It just keeps getting worse & I'm just barely 6 weeks pregnant! Yesterday I could only keep saltines & pregnancy tea down. I'm trying to eat whatever seems appealing & eat small amts regularly so my stomach doesn't get all the way empty...but it's not really working that well :(

People keep telling me that strong early symptoms are often a sign of twins :nut while that would be exciting, the idea makes me feel exhausted!!

KAte- don't worry but that would be quite a blessing. I was sick like you are with DD.It seemed to start from Day 1. Look at it as good thing- its a healthy prgncy!

OKAY- moving on to something kind of fun (not too quasy feeling!!)
I checked out a chinese calendar and according to the charts we are having another girl.
I just googled it and came up w these:

Amy - that chart cracks me up! All of my kids are just the opposite of what it says I should have had. It says BOY this time so if it is wrong like it was with the other 3, then I should be having a GIRL.

I am sorry so many of you are having nausea. I occassionally get it at night, but can't imagine having it all day. You truly have my sympathy!

I am feeling pretty good still...I am just waiting! For those of you getting sick, try the motion sickness bracelets. I was like "Yeah right!" with my last pregnancy, but boy did they help! I thought it was maybe in my mind, but one day they just weren't working and I figured that was that, but when I checked, they weren't on properly, and as soon as I fixed them, they worked like a charm!

Anyone expecting a higher number baby? Like number 4 or more? This will be number 5, and I can't believe the amount of negativity. Most people are like "Oh no, how did that happen????". Well, it wasn't planned, but that doesn't mean I don't WANT the baby. I am missing that excitement....so far NOONE has been all "Woohoo, yeah!!!!". Ok, that is my whine for the day.

It is yucky raining here today, but Kohls is having that spend $50 get a $10 coupon thing, and all four kids need coats, boots, and snowpants, so we are off to shop. I may look for maternity pants, I know my old ones awere looking a little raggy by then end of my last pregnancy. Not showing anything yet, but I usually do by 8 weeks or so, so want to be prepared.

Oh, I also got a new crockpot yesterday so when I am sick I don't have to "cook". Any good recipes?

Caroline- that really makes me so p*ssed when people say things like that to you. My in-laws had 9 kids in their day and even 40 plus years ago some comments that they received would make your skin crawl. When I tell them about this, I gaurentee they will get very angry and start talking about it.
Even my sil got a comment one time when she and my brother were expecting their 3rd. My parents' neighbor actually said to my sil- "why would you want 3?" and she was showing!!!! I almost threw up on the neighbor. Karen just looked at her. I told her later she should have said- "You're right, maybe I should go have an abortion right now, how stupid of me" :irked:
I think people should mind their own business.

Nut on a happy note- here are some crock pot recipes I recieved from other mdc ers in the past:
Crock pot

Crockpot Chili
2 1lb. can beans, drained
2 lb. tomatos, fresh or canned
1 lb. meat, browned (we use turkey)
2 med onion chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 T chili powder, adjust to taste
1t pepper
1t cumin
salt to taste
Put all ingrediants in crockpot. Low 10-12 hours, High 5-6 hours

chicken breasts, half a taco seasoning packet or equivilent of homemade mix, 16 oz salsa cooked on low for 8 hours and then mixed with a cup of sour cream after chicken is removed.
Pour "gravy" over chicken breasts.

chicken breasts with lime juice, brown sugar, a splash of white wine or juice and some water mixed together and poured over chicken and slow cooked 6-8 hours on low.

. Beef (or bean) stews, chicken and turkey soups, pasta sauces are all pretty easy to do. Plus you can make extras to freeze. I find it fun to be creative -- like some chicken, brown sugar, honey mustard, and a bit of rosemary.

Meat - pork, chicken, beef, whatever
can of cream of whatever or homemade cream soup
little can of tomato paste or puree, not the juicy stuff like sauce
dump it all in, cook all day on low
When it is done, you have a nice thick gravy, you can also dump in any leftover veggies you have. We usually eat this with rice or noodles.

Saucy beef:
2 lbs stew meat
1 can cheddar cheese soup
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 package dry onion soup mix
Mix soups together and pour over beef in crock pot. Cook on low for 8-10 hours. We usually serve ours over egg noodles or rice.

Sweet and Spicy Kielbasa
Kielbasa (I do a lot of this at once and freeze it)
equal parts brown sugar and brown mustard.
Mix the sugar and mustard together and pour over sausage. Cook on medium about 6 hours

Chicken and Stuffing
6 chicken breasts
2 packages Stovetop stuffing mixed with ingredients on package (I'm sure you could make your own stuffing mix)
2 cans cream of mushroom
Place chicken in bottom of crockpot, add stuffing and pour soup over top. Cook on high about 4 hours. This recipe can easily be split in half for smaller families.

My favorite things to do with the crock pot is soup. I just dump in whatever we have around- leftover meat, fresh or frozen veggies, dry or canned beans, lentils, broth or boullion, spices, pasta, and extra water. It always tastes good, no matter what I put in.

Ham & Lentil Soup

2 cups lentils
1/2 pound ham -- diced
1 onion -- chopped
1 bay leaf
2 ribs celery -- chopped
1 clove garlic -- minced
salt and pepper -- to taste

Combine all ingredients with 2 quarts water in the crock pot. Cook on low, covered, 8 to 10 hours. Adjust seasonings and serve.

Mac n cheese

8 oz macaroni noodles, cooked in salted water.
1/2 c. butter
3 c sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1 12 oz can evaporated milk
1 1/2 c whole milk (I used 2%, it came out fine)
2 eggs

Grease cp lightly w/spray on oil. Cook noodles in salted water, add to cp. Add butter and cheese, mix. Add milk, evaporated milk, and beaten eggs. Season w/salt and pepper. Cover and DO NOT LIFT LID!!!! (I know, it's very hard for us stirrers!) Cook for 3 hrs on low.
Chicken and gravy w potatoes
Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Potatoes, quartered, with jackets
About 6 stalks celery
1/2 pkg baby carrots
1 can cream of chicken soup*
1 pkg dry onion soup mix

Place vegetables on bottom of crock pot. Brown chicken breasts in PAM or vegetable spray. Place over vegetables. Cover with the cream of chicken soup, undiluted. Sprinkle with dry onion soup mix. Do not add water. Cover and cook all day on low, or 6 hours on high.

I had planned to substitute either Campbell's healthy choice or reduced fat cream of chicken. I have done this in other recipes, and cannot taste the difference.
Potato soup
8 potatoes (peeled or not) chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 celery ribs chopped
2 carrots, peeled and chopped small
1 can chicken broth
2 T dried parsley
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 cup milk
1/2 cup flour
sliced green onions, grated cheese, and chopped bacon for toppings
Put all ingredients down to and including the pepper into the crockpot. Add water to within 1" of the top of the crockpot (this recipe is for a 5 qt, so adjust accordingly). Cook on high for 8 hours. 1 hour before serving, put milk into a small conatiner with a lid, add flour and shake till well mixed. Add to the soup.

Oh, and I added rosemary too, it gave it a really good flavor. I chopped the celery very samll, so this would probably be a good way to sneak veggies into your kids. Also very low fat.

barbecue, beef, crockpot

2 1/2 lb beef round steak
2 tablespoon lemon juice
3/4 cup catsup
1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
1 small onion -- diced
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 cup celery

Cut beef into thin strips. Brown in skillet. Meanwhile, combine lemon juice, catsup, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, mustard, onion, water, brown sugar and celery. Pour into crockpot. Add meat. Cook on medium heat for 3 or 4 hours. Serve over hamburger buns
Crockpot Chile Verde

3 lbs. pork tenderloin or sirloin, trimmed and cut into 1" cubes
1 large onion, chopped
1 tablespoon minced garlic
2 large orange or red bell peppers, cut into 1" squares
2 large yellow bell peppers, cut into 1" squares
1 4 oz. can diced mild green chilies
1 large can (28 oz) green enchilada sauce
1 12 oz. jar green salsa (tomatillo based)
1 teaspoon powdered cumin
1 teaspoon powdered coriander
1 teaspoon chipotle chili powder
1/2 cup loosely packed chopped fresh cilantro

Put the onions, garlic, and peppers into crockpot. Add the pork cubes and remaining ingredients, stir well, cover and cook on Low about 8 hours. Serve over mixed whole grains. Makes 24 1-cup servings

Guinness-Braised Pot Roast

1 cup water
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped carrot
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup Guinness stout
¼ cup dark brown sugar
¼ cup tomato paste
1 tbsp dried dill
1 ½ cups beef broth
6 black peppercorns
2 whole cloves
1 (2-pound) chuck roast (trimmed of all visible fat)

Combine the first 11 ingredients in a slow cooker, stirring well. Place the roast over the mixture, cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours. Slice on the diagonal for a presentable platter and discard liquid and vegetables. Serves 4-6.

Vegetarian Black Bean Soup
1 pound dry black beans
1 1/2 quarts water
1 carrot, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
1 large red onion, chopped
6 cloves garlic, crushed
2 green bell peppers, chopped
2 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
1/4 cup dry lentils
1 (28 ounce) can peeled and diced tomatoes
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon salt
1/2 cup uncooked white rice

1. Soak beans in water overnight. Put beans in slowcooker with 1-1/2 quarts water, cover, cook on high for about 3 hours. Make sure beans are tender before going on to next step.
2. Add rest of ingredients except for rice, stir and cook for 2-3 hours. Seasonings can be adjusted to suit individual tastes.
3. Add rice and cook another 20 minutes or so until everything is tender. Process about half the soup in a food processor or blender and then add back with the soup.

Crock Pot Italian Beef

In a Crock-pot combine and simmer at least 6 hours:

3 lb. Rump Roast
1 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 onion, diced

Remove roast from crock pot and slice thin. Remove any grease from pot. Leave beef out on a plate.

Then, in another pan (on the stove), add the liquid from the crock pot and add:

½ teaspoon garlic salt
½ teaspoon onion salt
½ teaspoon oregano
½ tsp basil
1 package of dry Italian dressing

Boil for 15 minutes. Put beef back into the crock-pot and pour juice over the roast and simmer for another 45 minutes.

Peanut Chicken Breasts

1/4 cup peanut butter
2 tbs chopped peanuts
2 tbs soy sauce
1 tbs minced onions
1 tbs minced parsley
1 clove garlic -- crushed
Several drops of red pepper sauce
1/8 tsp ground ginger
4 whole chicken breasts -- skinned & boned
2 tbs soy sauce
2 tbs honey
1 tbs melted butter
1 10 1/2 ounce chicken broth
1 tbs cornstarch

Mix peanut butter, peanuts, 2 tbs soy sauce, onion,
parsley, garlic, pepper sauce, and ginger. Spread on
inside of each chicken breast. Fold in half; close with
small skewer or a toothpick. Place in slow-cooking pot.

Mix remaining 2 tbs soy sauce with honey, butter, and
broth; pour over chicken. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 5
hours. Remove chicken from pot. Turn control to high.
Dissolve cornstarch in small amount of cold water; stir
into sauce. Cook on high for about 15 minutes.

Spoon sauce on chicken and serve.

Just cut n paste like I did and hope this helps! Also check out the meal planning section of the boards.

Caroline - people are idiots, really. When I was expecting baby #3 (after 2 girls) everyone kept asking if we were FINALLY having our boy and/or if we had tried for a boy. The finally part was hysterical because when ds was born, we had 3 under 3 - for 6 weeks.

This will be our 4th baby and I fully anticipate a ton of brilliant comments. When I went to the OB's office for my u/s the nurse who took my BP asked if it was our 1st baby (kids weren't there) and I said, "no, 4th." She then goes on to say, "was it a surprise?" Why would someone ask that? Because nobody in there right mind would possibly plan 4 or more children? Irritated, I said, "no, it was not a surprise, but a very well planned pregnancy including charting and Clomid after many miscarriages." Luckily that shut her up. I figured if she thought it was appropriate to ask how/why we conceived, it should be perfectly acceptable for me to make her feel bad for asking!

Normally, I would expect my parents to be a little weird about another baby, but after so many m/c's I think they knew it was coming and feel bad about all that we have been through in the last year. Guess there's nothing like a little guilt to make people be nice, huh?

Dave keeps referring to them as "them"....hmm...

Okay ladies I have to tell you I don't feel pg at all, expect for this very excited inner feeling that I am enjoying. And Dave keeps telling me how much I am glowing. I have no dr/mw appointment yet and the "normal" me is a very impatient neurotic person. Suddenly I just have a feeling of casualness about this.

Could the hormones be reversing my neurosis? Or, am I still just in a state of disbelief as we were trying, trying..then gave up because the timing would have been better later in the year?

He he - no, you're just still in the feeling-great-before-morning-sickness phase. Enjoy it while it lasts (about 2 weeks)! I always love that first 2-3 weeks when I find out I am pregnant and yet I still feel like my normal, non-pregnant self. And then m/s comes and I think, "Oh yeah, I remember now how much this sucked." :lol

But the good thing is m/s usually only lasts about 5-6 weeks and then you start feeling good again.

I always say the beginning and the ending (the last month) of pregnancy are the hardest part.

Or maybe you could be one of those that doesn't even get m/s - that would be cool!

about the chinese calendar. It said both my boys were supposed to be girls and says this one should be a boy so it makes me think its a girl. :)

Actually, kind of a weird story, but a couple of weeks ago before we mentioned to the boys we were going to have another baby my five year old came up and told me Mom my sister told me she's coming soon. I said sweety you just have a brother you don't have a sister. He said No mom I have a sister and she's coming soon. It totally gave me goose bumps. A week or so later we told the boys that mommy is going to have a baby and he said yeah my sister is coming.

Yes, people are idiots. Someone I told today actually said "Oh, I am so sorry". WHAT?? :irked:

Nichole, I liked your comeback. I wish I could be more bold and tell people what I think.

Jo, that disbelief can be a powerful thing!! I still have the pregnancy test sitting next to my bed (ewww) and keep checking it again! But I am still feeling so "casual" as well....

Erin, that is a cool story. Little kids know so much....did he geta date from her?? That would help you towards the end when you are going nuts waiting!! :wink

Currently I am a student teacher teaching inner city students. I get there at 6:30 in the mornign and usually don't leave until 4:30. It has been really hard on me with the exhaustion and fatuige. I have learned really quick to eact lots of little snacks that are high in protein for energy. I also go to bed at like 9 everynight. I know that things will change when I have my baby, I will have to do more of my work at night. But that is ok.

hi ladies, mind if i jump in? we just found out we're having #3 in june...my chart says edd is around june 25th or so...its funny cuz we must have conceived almost the same time 2yrs ago, cuz dd#2's edd was june 22nd :D

caroline~im sorry you're receiving such negative comments...some people are just so insensitive..if they'd stop and think, "is this something i want people to say to me?" then maybe they'd be a little more understanding! my g-ma had 6 kids and my dh's g-ma had 7 and his other g-ma had 12! my moms side and jasn's families are a little less "surprised" at our having a third, but i haven't told my dad or stepmom yet, as they were surprised we had our dd's only 22mos apart. which we planned by the way. and this little one will be 24mos younger than my #2dd. like you, i want people to have positive things to say, not "astonishment!" i wish they'd just keep negative things to themselves...its not like you asked for their opinion on how many children is the "right" number. and whose "right" number is it? yours or theirs? :hug mama...

amys1st~those are great recipes!! thanks! i'll be using a couple of those this week. i've already broke out my crockpot and used it a bunch! i love cooking in it in fall cuz it just makes the house cozier :throb thanks again!

Well, I'm 7 weeks 3 days, and it seems my morning sickness is pretty much gone. I have very mild nausea in the morning before I eat, but other than that... I've felt pretty good the last few days. And, i'm not tired.... I'm completely unmotivated to do anything, but not tired, and not falling asleep at the drop of a hat like the rest of you. I try to stay in bed as late as possible, but i think that's because I have to pee three times a night, and am dreaming all night long. (um, yeah, the crazy sex dreams began last night!!).

I'm trying not to worry, that the lack of ms is normal, and I'm lucky.... right?

No sex dreams for me. :( Mine are really vivid and freaky. In one I was pg but the doc was talking about using my sis as a surrogate and I woke up in a panic and lay in bed rubbing my belly and talking to them.

Hmm....that Chinese chart was right with both of mine, said girls for both of them AND girl for this one....we shall see! Not that I put much stock in those things, but hey, ya never know...

Amy, thanks for those recipes, they look great - I looooove my crock pot!!

Kelly, I just noticed it looks like our kids are almost the exact same ages/spacing - dd1 was 3 in August and dd 2 is almost 17 months; they are 22 months apart and dd2 and this baby are going to be 24-25 months apart. Are your girls excited about the new baby?? Teresa cannot stop talking about it! She's *sure* it's a baby brother this time, I won't tell her what the Chinese calendar said :lol

Well I started typing this, then I heard fussing so went in the bedroom to check, Maddy was half-asleep and rolled on top of her sister and trying quite frustratedly to nurse from her sister's elbow! LOL So now I'm back to finish....

It's really awful the comments people make about large families. My SIL has 9 beautiful kids and got all kinds of simply ignorant to downright nasty comments about them....anyway she has this great T-shirt that says something on the front like, "Top 10 Reasons To Love My Big Family" and on the back has funny things like "My Kids Will Be Paying Your Social Security" and "Yes We Know What Causes This, And Man, Is It Fun!" Sarcastic but funny - wish I could remember the rest. Anyway, I hope to be in your place someday, expecting #5 or 6 so I can give people a piece of my mind if they make comments like that! Right now people give me an "allowance" for #3, "oh yeah, you have 2 girls, you must be trying one more time for a boy" :irked: I'm like, "No, we're just getting started so it doesn't matter to me, hopefully we'll have several of both eventually!" They usually don't know what to say to that! :lol

With dd1 I had lots of nausea, considerable m/s wks 6-11, but absolutely nothing with dd2, not a single day of m/s! I am 6 wks tomorrow so I guess I'll find out pretty soon which one this pg will be more like!

Sarcastic but funny - wish I could remember the rest. Anyway, I hope to be in your place someday, expecting #5 or 6 so I can give people a piece of my mind if they make comments like that!

That's a funny shirt. My friend has one that says, "Birth Control Is For Sissies" :lol

My dh wants six or seven, but I don't think I have that many years of fertility left in me.

Birth control is for sissies?! :lol I LOVE it. Need to get a maternity T that says that!!

Well, I'm having a crappy day. Had some bleeding today and don't know what's up. Could just be nothing, or ... I panic because of my first pg which was a miscarriage. I bled a wee bit with Timmy and totally, I mean TOTALLY flipped out. And it was fine. But I'm depressed :(

Hope everyone is feeling ok today :thumb

Christina how stressful :Hug

Tomarrow is my first ob appointment and oddly I am extremely excited. I think because I've wanted this for so long and the appointment makes it so real.

I love those T-shirts. I was at the dentists office with my boys and they wanted to schedual me I told them we needed to wait until december when I'm in the 2nd trimester and I got the boy you are sure going to have your hands full. Better full then empty is what I said but it gets old.

christina~ :hug mama! i bled w/ my 2nd sometimes after we had sex...could that be it? hoping your feeling better this evening!

i called and got an earlier appt from my ob. my original appt was for nov 22nd, but i got them to make it for nov 7th. plus, i get a sonogram. that's only 2wks from now! i don't mean to be so impatient, but since i had a miscarriage between my 2 girls early in the pregnancy, i just need to see that heartbeat, kwim?!

I do - even though I haven't had a miscarriage, I've never been pg before and I really really want some reassurance that everything is OK. My exam on the 11th of Nov. still seems so far away!

Ditto the vivid dreams - I've had them a few times a week since conception, but not usually sexual. Except this morning :blush I woke up from one all hot & bothered but we didn't have time to do anything about it before work. Sometimes I wish I could put a batch of horny up in a container for later, ya know? :D

Had the slightest hint of feeling "off" pre-nausea this morning at breakfast. I hope it doesn't get too bad ... I was starting to really enjoy not having any!

:hug Christina Spotting/bleeding with pregnancy is soooooo dang stressful. With ds#1 I spotted/bled for 7 1/2 months! Then I had a m/c between the boys. Fortunately, for my sanity, ds#2 was completely uneventful. This time has been pretty much except I was spotting over the weekend; I'm 99% sure from sex. But, even when you can rationalize it away, it doesn't matter ... it still is freaky and scary. :hug Just take it easy and if you need, call the doctor/midwife for some reassurance (maybe an early u/s).

Thanks for all the support! I *think* it's all good. It stopped yesterday, and it probably was caused by a little mischief. I didn't call the mw, and I don't think I will. I have the world's nastiest bloating and think I'm having some serious digestive issues, so that would suggest to me that I'm definitely still pg ;)

Speaking of dreams - I dreamed last night that I was having a visit at the mw's office, and I was due. While I was there, my water broke, and the baby came right away (there was lots of scurrying around to find a place for me to have it). Except....there were TWO BABIES. A boy and a girl. :nut When I told DH about it this morning his eyes got very big :D I just think it's funny. I dont put a lot of stock in dreams, but everyone I know who has had a dream about the sex of their baby has had it come true. I had one with DS1 - I was sure he was a girl, but I dreamt he was a boy. And, of course, he is a boy.
Any thoughts?

ok ladies...im going to be a worrier too! we had a miscarriage between my 2 girls, so i tend to worry about every twinge or little pain i feel in my belly...like this morning it felt kinda like gas pains, but not. so im convinced that somethings going wrong. so of course everytime i've gone to the bathroom this morning i expect to see blood. isn't that horrible of me..is anyone else feel something going on down there, little twinges, not really painful, just stuff going on :nut i can't really explain it...kinda feels like gas pains..which also feel like cramps :scratch i just can't wait till my appt. i want the reassurance. :o

:hug mommy2girlies, I'm right there with you!! Hang in there. I had some cramps this wknd too before having the bleeding, and today I'm discovering (well, last night too) that it IS just gas issues. I know how hard it is to trust that all is going well. Even though we have seen a heartbeat (2 weeks ago), I still look for blood every time I go to the bathroom. I have also had little twinges some that feel a little crampy, but nothing very uncomfortable. Everything makes me worry that this baby won't stick either and that is stressful. Although I am not as stressed as I was several weeks ago, I'm still nervous that something is worng. I keep setting ridiculous little goals, like once I see the hb, I'll be able to relax. And now that I have an appt. today, I have been saying, once I make it through this appt., I will feel more confident. I just wonder if there will ever truly be a point where I feel like I can relax. I really miss the confidence and naivety of my first 3 pregnancies. I'm sory that others are feeling this way, but glad to know that I am not alone.

2. yes, definitely dreaming all the time... vivid and some are pretty sexy... i don't remember dreaming so much with #1.....

Christina :thumb so glad to hear your spotting has stopped! With my pregnancy with dd#1 I was spotting at 6 weeks & went to the ER and demanded a vaginal u/s! One nurse had the gall to tell me that if I was miscarrying they were just going to send me home becuase there was nothing they could do anyway!!!! Talk about poor bedside manner!

Past miscarriages can make you a little crazy, no? :flipped :nut
But Caroline came out just fine & no more spotting after that.
Hope everyone is having a great day - my anti-morning sickness system seems to at least keep me from vomiting, so I am going to try to meet up w/ some friends at the park this morning & get some fresh air for me & Caroline.

does anyone have a link to that chinese calendar? i'd like to see what it says about my 2 girls and what it'll say for this one :D

that crampy feeling stopped thank goodness!! i was driving myself nuts going to the bathroom every minute to check if i was bleeding :o i kept feeling a wet feeling, like when i o'd so i was just so sure it was blood. nope, just wet, sorry if tmi. i think part of it was i was dehydrated. i'd been so preoccupied the last couple days that i hadn't drank enough water. last night after i had 2 full glasses of water, the cramps went away :wink

i've had mild nausea. haven't tossed my cookies yet, but i know the time will come. i had nasty m/s w/ both the girls! :sick it seemed to start around 6-7wks and im only 5wks 3days. i am sooo tired!! and i have a lingering headache. i just feel kinda wiped :flipped

I'm sory that others are feeling this way, but glad to know that I am not alone.

My thoughts exactly, Nichole. I'm having a hard time just relaxing and believing in this pregnancy ... I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. I really hate that, but I think only time is going to make that feeling go away for me. It helps to know others are feeling the same way. :hug

I've been super tired lately and we've got a lot going on this week and weekend (including still working on putting our house back together after I flooded six rooms in a moment of pregnancy brain forgetfulness :innocent ) I need lots and lots of naps. Jillian knows now and thinks my puking all the time is funny (at least she doesn't get grossed out, I guess) and when I lay down to rest she cuddles beside me and looks at picture books. I'm not gettting much sleep, but I do get to lay down a lot, so that helps. I feel like a zombie, but I know my body is working super hard, so it's understandable to be so tired. Good excuse to catch up on all the rest I've been missing out on the past, oh, four years or so :wink

TryingMommas - if you can figure out how to batch up horny for later I think you'd make a fortune :D

mamajava - :hug Glad things are better. Take care of yourself, okay? :love

Amy - thanks for posting all those crockpot recipes. I've been making double batches of lasagna and casseroles and freezing them and having some recipes for the crockpot will help, too. I'm still doing okay (most days) with cooking, but it's nice to have back up for all these super sleepy days. Thanks!

You naughty mamas! :wink No sex dreams here (yet) but I did have a weird one last night that the baby was born wearing a onesie ??? !!! And, like, everyone in the dream thought that was really cute and I was the only one freaked out about it :nut

how is everyone and morning sickness...im starting to get a little more "delicate" in the morning, but no real nausea yet. a certain smell can make my stomach turn but i haven't had a meeting w/ the toilet yet. :lol i remember with both girls it was after i was 6wks that it really started and im only 5wks 5days...so im assuming its creeping up to me

on the sleepy issue....i've gone to bed around 9pm all week. our normal bedtime is around 11pm...but 8:30 rolls around and im fighting to keep my eyes open!! neither of my girls are big on naps, and if they do take one, its never at the same time, so naps are non-existant for me.... :yawning:

The m/s hit me like a brick wall yesterday in the late afternoon, just like last time. I spent about an hour hanging over the toilet. My mom had to come over and make some dinner for Zion because DH was working late.

Everything smells super strong. Zion's breath is enough to send me heaving. I tried to eat a pear this morning thinking it's a pretty mild fruit. Boy, was I wrong! It tastes SO strong I could hardly even swallow it.

I have no idea how I'm going to live through this again. Especially with a toddler whose getting into EVERYTHING while I'm sitting on the bathroom floor...

this pg is kind of different than my pg with dd. I have a lovely metallic taste in my mouth, my teeters are sensitive, but not too painful, only when dd latches on. I'm tired, but not desperately so, though I like to go to bed at 9. I used to go to bed at 10. I have queasiness regardless of whether my stomch is empty or not, and I'm most queasy in the am, and sometimes in the pm around dinner time. gee, I wonder why?

I work a lot - full time, part time, and from home. The tiredness was a huge shock - no one talks about it other than us! I'm coping principally by ingesting massive amounts of fruits, vegetables, and protein, washed down with lots of water. For some reason, if I keep eating and drinking, I don't feel as tired. The really weird thing is that I'm actually craving these healthy foods - it's like the baby just isn't impressed with sugar.

Otherwise, it's just become a routine of 8 o'clock bedtimes and naps whenever possible (usually only on weekends.)

I can't change my routine a lot, as the family depends on my income. So, I'm hoping to take between 8 and 12 weeks of family friendly leave and then resign myself to day care. I have a wonderful lady who keeps just a few children in her home, but it's still going to suck.

btw, how do I change my handle? I didn't realize when I signed up that I was giving my real name as a screen name.

Enjoying this forum a lot - you ladies are great!
