This is something my husband and I are looking at, though we're not sure when... Just wondered if others would be willing to share their experiences.

He had it. He sat around with an ice pack for a day. Took it easy the next day. He was back to commuting by bike in a week and a half. No complaints in the function department!

Those are all good things to hear. :) We've said we're waiting until dd is at least two until making a final decision, but we do think that this lurks in our future, perhaps sometime soon.

My ex-DH had a vasectomy several years ago. He had no troubles at all! He had some bruising for a few days & that was it. He said it really didn't hurt more than a bruise & went on with normal life. :thumb We were both surprised!

Again, it's good to hear other people's experiences. We are planning a move in the spring and my husband is hoping to start a PhD program in the fall, so we are just thinking about how/when/if to fit a vasectomy in there somehow/possibly...

How did people decide timing?

FWIW, My BIL (the biggest whiny wuss ever!!) had it done in-office and went to a Sammy Hagar concert the same night!! He said it wasn't bad at all.

DH had it done when our youngest was about 11 mos. old. Ice pack and pain pills for that day only and then he was fine. It's been about 8 years since and no complaints! :wink

My DH is kind of a wuss too. He had it done, spent 2 days on the couch with a bag of frozen peas and the remote, and then was just a slight bit tender for about 4 days after. He said it wasn't bad at all.

He had his when Tara was about 6mo if I remember correctly. We knew we were done before she was born, so he just picked a time that wasn't too stressful at work (in case he needed more than 1 day off). He had it done on Friday, did some work from home that day, and was back to work with no problem on Monday.
