Those are my two main symptoms. I've already lost all my 30 lbs. of pregnancy weight and another 5 lbs. in the last week. I don't know what to do anymore. I just can't eat. I'm getting weaker my the day and nursing is taking all my energy. Luca is 6 weeks old now. I've been battling 2 virus colds in the last 3 weeks (so some of the problem might be from that)...but I'm getting more depressed the weaker I feel. Any ideas? Does my problem even sound like PDD?

I know that weight changes (gain or loss) can def. be a symptom of depression. I've read that a zinc supplement can sometimes help boost appetite....could you possibly be anemic? I see you're 6 wks PP and nursing, so I'm assuming aren't pregnant :) Are the foods you do eat fairly nutrient dense?

Did you take the online quiz at the top of this page? I wonder if the depressed feeling is coming from the virus/weakness/loss of appetite or the other way around? Have you consulted with your HCP? The nausea is throwing me. I know some women are sensitive to the hormones released when nursing, though that's pretty rare.

Five pounds in one week is a really big loss, especially when you're nursing.

Sorry I don't have any answers for you. I do have this though :hug

Hope you get to feeling better really soon.

With my ppd I tend to feel very apathetic. I can't seem to get excited about anything. I sort of just go through the motions. I don't really care if I eat, I start to not do things that I enjoy simply because I don't really care. I am a very social person but when I'm dealing with active depression I find that I start skipping playgroups and stuff. Not because I'm sad, or depressed, but rather because I just can't seem to get excited about them. It's hard to describe, but it's sort of like losing the ability to be excited or enthusiastic.

If you haven't gone in for your six week check yet, I suggest talking to your doctor then about how you are feeling. She can test your thyroid, check for anemia, and anything physical that could be going on, If those all check out okay, then the two of you can discuss how to deal with what's going on, and if she thinks it could be depression. If you have already had your post partum check, I'd make an appointment to go back in and see her/him.

Dearest MamatoMila,
I would call your dr and get checked out...6 weeks is about the time that I got ppd (I also felt nauseus and not eating) and I just want you to be careful so it doesn't get really bad...Read the PPD checklist and see if you anymore symptoms too. I am especially concered that your depression is worsening---that is a bad sign.
Just play it safe please!!!!!!
