does anyone know of any midwives, doulas or even other women living in the Cairo, Egypt area who are homebirth/non-medicalized birth-oriented? it's pretty biomedicalized out here and i'm having no luck finding support for my pregnancy and labor. thanks for any help.

Have you tried doing an internet search for doula or midwife? Some sites have doulas and midwives that are available and in what area.

ahh, thanks for the support. i've searched like a madwoman through the internet (int'l midwife sites, etc.) but haven't found anybody. amazing in a megalopolis of 18 million that i can't find even a smattering of like-minded people. ah well. maybe it'll be one of those unassisted homebirths. thanks again.

Hello,

I have no idea, I would imagine there would be a good midwife in Cairo, keep trying...I will post something on the national midwives list to ask if anyone knows of a midwife there...I'll even ask them to forward the question to other midwife lists.

I am assuming you are wanting a home birth? Or hospital?

Sometimes you can get a midwife to come to you for a place to stay and the cost of the ticket... Enshallah, you will figure something out. :)

I will let you know what I find... Khatrek
