Going to a costume/Halloween party and want to dress up. Would like to incorporate the ol' belly into the costume, but my creative juices aren't working too well lately. Does anybody have any ideas? Please post them. I will be going to the party with dh and the girls. So, partner type costumes will work too, but nothing inappropriate for the girls. Thanks.

I'm going to be mother earth and dh is father time.. we bought a white tshirt and are painting the earth on the belly then got a flowy dress which we will cut out the belly and a robe to go over it all.. I have a wreath of leaves for my head and a scarf of leaves too.. hopefully it will look cool and people will realize what we're supposed to be! :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Mother Earth idea. Maybe I'll steal it ;)

As of right now, I think we'repainting the belly as a pumpkin. I'll find (hopefully!) green tights/leggings and a green tight shirt andmake some leaves and wear my pumpkin hat. Kind lame ;) I thougth about painting it as a big apple and wearing black so that you mainly just see the apple and dressing my toddler as a worm :) I have no idea whatI'll do.

It doesn't really incorporate the belly, but I'm going as a geisha because my Kimono still fits! I'm starting to realize that my belly probably isn't going to be really huge by then anyway so I might look silly doing a belly-focused costume.

Last year when I was 2 mo. pg, tired and sick (and the mom of two busy preschoolers), I wore my bathrobe and cozy slippers, stuffed in a pillow to make myself look more pg, and went as a "tired pregnant mama". It was the best I could manage, and it got lots of smiles. Best of all, I was comfy!

Popping in from Feb board - I wanted to share my halloween costume! I got the idea from Family Fun magazine last year, and made it myself with white contact paper stuck to a black shirt. I wore it this week to a MOPS Halloween party and got lots of comments!

I love all these ideas! Trick or treating is the only real activity we do here. No parties or anything. So I was gonna dress up to take the kids out.. but most of these ideas sound so ... COLD! Around here we either have to wear pants and long sleeves plus sweaters under the costumes, or wear a coat over them because its downright cold at night now. So I guess painting my belly is out. :(

I need a black turtleneck/longsleeve shirt. I have black pants. I will paint my belly yellow (with the face) and go as a smiley face! :D That way, people will be able to admire my belly without TOUCHING it! :D :D

danav-- that is SUCH a cute costume! I have heard of that idea before, but have never seen it! :D

Ana-- you could actually use danav's idea. Just get a sweatsuit, and then you could wear anything under it for warmth.

I'm looking for ideas too and unfortunately my belly isn't big enough to paint. I was thinking of stealing an idea I saw a few years ago. The couple dressed in flesh colored sweatsuits and were Adam and Eve. I was thinking about being a pregnant Eve this year. They took green felt and made leaves that they pinned on. They were very simple, but really cute!

I also just saw another idea of painting the belly like a fish in a fishbowl.

danav, that's pretty impressive! If I weren't spending so much time sewing two elaborate princess dresses for my dd's, I might to it myself.

Danav -- I LOVE IT!!! I also love that family fun magazine. I think I will be copying you--that is too cute.

It really didn't take long...maybe a couple hours to draw and cut out the bones. I remember seeing the picture of a pg woman in a costume like this last year (in the magazine) and thought it was hilarious...so when it turned out that I am pg this year, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity! I think I'm going to stick the baby skeleton onto some dark scrapbook paper and put it in the baby's book as his first Halloween costume. :)

For those of you who are painting your bellies, what kind of paint are you using? I was wanting to let my 5 yr old paint my belly just for fun (a pumpkin or something) but I need something that won't ruin clothes and will wash off easily when we're done...

I have painted my belly with everything from body paint to washable kids paint. Never had any problems :)

I know you can make homemade face paint with tempera and cold cream (from my preschool teacher days). I may jsut get body paint from the party store.
