I am pregnant and would like to co-sleep with the baby (sharing a huge bed), but mediareports about this Scottish research has scared me a bit.

Scottish University Research: Sharing bed increases the risk of SIDS (8x) (http://www.irishhealth.com/?level=4&id=7833)

What advice would you give me?
We have to buy either a bigger bed or a new babybed. And we have to decide soon. WWYD?

Is there any extensive, reliable research going against these findings?

Edited: the link didn't work and I found another link reporting the same research

Ok. I posted to fast.
I have now found an old thread about this same research. Going to read it and calm down (hopefully) :)

All studies that I've seen that try to prove co-sleeping "unsafe" 1. don't allow for safe co-sleeping (like taking out the ones who sleep on a couch- duh, MAJOR smothering issue) and 2. are paid for by crib manufacturers.

Go to the www.askdrsears.com site and read his info on co-sleeping.

I wouldn't do it any other way. It just makes sense. All mammal babies need to sleep with their moms.
