DH went out xcountry skiing today, said it was sublime at Tech trails (which is now lit at night:sunshine) I am rearing to go but LLL, full time school, Christmas stuff, church stuff, dirty house, snow management, piano lessons, Spanish lessons, Daisy scouts, DH's new job and three sweet girls allow little time. I am hankering for a pulk so I could take the wee ones, but they cost$$$$.
Yooper I made applesauce crisp with your yummy applesauce tonight. :p

Redhot - YES, I need help with deviled eggs. But first, I just need to figure out how to boil them successfully. Any suggestions? I am glad the applesauce came in handy:)
The trails are awesome. We went out yesterday and tonight. Dd is catching on great!

for eggs- I think you put them in when the water boils and you boil for 12 min. That should give you good eggs!
We are plasted with snow down here too. But no one has yooper scoopers???? Freaks- they have have these teeny tiny plows- lol....
The only guy we saw using a yooper scoop said he got it in the UP :lol We have a small one so we are going to order one this week!
Scott is building an ice rink- looks like the girls are getting skates for x-mas and I really want some snow shoes for everyone....

Okay, here's what my Nana taught me...
1. Put however many eggs you wish to boil in your pan DON'T CROWD they shouldn't be snug.
2. Add enough water to just cover. NO LID!
3. Put pan on the stove and bring to a boil at Med. High
4. When the water is at a gentle rolling boil, set timer for 12 min.
5. When they have boiled 12 min. Pour off hot water, set pan under running cold water for 4 min. (this part drives dh crazy for the water loss, but is crucial!!!)
6. Have dc color them well, and place away from reg. eggs in the fridge.
I guess the cold water helps to let shell peel easier. thar ya go 'eh
Boy am I wound up from LLL tonite. We finally dragged ourselves home after 11:00 AGAIN!!! I'd follow my leader anywhere!!! Birth, Breastfeeding and Beyond....
I have to say I lucked out, dh did the dishes and picked up his socks, hey what's going on here????

lol...you guys are so organized. this is how we make eggs in our family....
put your eggs in the pot. it doesn't matter how snug they are.
fill the pot with water
put them on the stove and turn the heat up
if it starts to foam, turn it down some
the eggs are done when one of them cracks
take them off the stove
drain the water
you can add warm/cold water if you want, but it doesn't make any noticeable difference.
they're WAY easier to peel while they're still hot. just wait till they're cool enough that you don't burn your hand and go for it.

I must be egg challenged:)
Here is the current method I use:
1. 12 eggs in pan. Not crowded.
2. Cover with cold water and a tbsp of white vinegar.
3. Place on burner, turn to high
4. When water boils, cover with lid, and turn burner off (electric stove, so still hot).
5. Set timer for 12 minutes
6. Drain water and plunge eggs in ice water
This sometimes works perfectly. Sometimes it will work perfectly on *some* of the eggs in the batch. But others might be underdone, overdone, or downright impossible to peel (the vinegar is suppose to help with the peeling). I might get some under and over down in the same batch! I have been told that fresh eggs could be the problem. I do seem to have more success with older eggs. Any time I have left them to boil the whole time, they are woefully overdone. And usually cracked too:(
Having been vegan for a LONG time, I have come into egg boiling late in life. It makes me so MAD too. I can make fluffy ww bread out of wheat berries but I cannot boil a few eggs?!?!!? Why don't they sell then pre-boiled:)

Pre boiled eggs- now that may be a business....
I think you need to have them uncovered and boil for 12 min. Then run them under water.

When I lived in Japan, I had a vending machine near my house that sold hard boiled eggs and fresh as well. There was a machine for explicit videos too, but that's OT!

So, I've got the hard boiled thing down... I'd like to learn the fine art of soft boiled. I've got some darling little egg cups I've never used. Way to charming for the dc IYKWIM. I've got some vicious XC skiing blues, as I sold them last year. Must ski or will perish... help, even a whiff of that wax, but I am veering OT

I have to tell you about my funny friend Adrienne, she came to my house for breakfast this week. Being the enterprising young woman that she is, she employed a new method for ferrying her kids here. The Yooper stroller! She pushed her kids up hill to my house, in the the snow with them seated in her Yooper Scooper snow shovel. That cracks me up!:D

I am very free form about my egg boiling. I put the eggs in water that totally covers all eggs. I let the eggs sit in the pot for about 15 min. I always take an egg out to test whether it is done or not. A hard-boiled egg will spin with ease. I drain the eggs and let them sit in cold water until they are cool enough to handle.
This has never failed me.

Big Yooper welcome to you Mommybugs, glad you found us!!! Our family is transplanted from Seattle, WA so I feel your pain! But fear no more! There is a wonderful group of generous, big hearted ladies waiting to welcome you!!!! Not only in the Marquette area but in the Keweenaw Pen. and Soo as well. So jump right in and let us know how things are going. We love to meet newbies. Its a big dotcom world here and I tend to stick to favs. like birth stories, gentle parenting, and whats for dinner, and sometimes get over to eclectic homeschooling started by our very own lakesuperiormom. So.... ya got a scoop yet?

Merry Christmas and Happy Solstice to everybody. For a split second I thought we were going to have a green holiday, whew, that was close.... We made a b'day cake for Jesus today and PEELED potatoes, whoa! RHMama is baking and cooking up a storm, what a lucky family she has!!
Okay everybody, whats for dinner tomorrow???? Do you do something? Nothing? Let's share our traditions
My dh insists we are home alone. He gives me three days a year I don't have smile through our combined families grief giving and condesention, he's a real champ! This year its a 11 pound ham, by popular request. I'll be eating sides and salad... I don't like to put any presents under the tree until everyones in bed. This house has no chimney and boy is 3yods concerned for Santa. Stockings will lay on the couch. Will open stockings in the morning. I once pushed for the Eve opening but, oh well...
Normally I make a breakfast casserole, but made cinnamon rolls instead, by popular demand too. Boy who wants to make dinner now??? Thank goodness for left over Black Bean Enchilada Casserole!!! I think dh is making the minions breakfast for dinner tonite, he's a gem!!!! He's intimated I'm on the Naughty short list, yes 'mam!

We're here for you, mama. I'm from the area, but I certainly understand that it can be hard to connect here. I am in Deerton. HOpefully, there will be Mqt. mamas meeting in the very near future. It's been too long since we all got together. This has been a funky time for me. I've been spending a lot of time in the dark as I am not online.
Happy Holidays, mamas!

hey folks, hope everyone had a smooth Christmas. This was our first Christmas not traveling downstate. We opened presents with grandma and grandpa on Christmas Eve and had my dad's traditional shrimp with cocktail sauce. Dh cracked open his first cranberry bog ale homebrew. Then kiddies to bed and santa came. We were awakened at 4:30 AM by the five year old! We tried to hold him off but he whined and cried in bed for an hour...so it was up at 5:30 in our house. I took a nap at 7:00AM (this pregnant mama was TIRED). Dh cooked a splendid pancake and sausage and egg breakfast. We were munching on left overs all day and then a friend called at 7:00 pm and brought over 10 pounds of ham so its been ham for the last 22 hours and now I think I'll make tacos!

We did a huge turduckhen, which is an orgy of meat. For leftovers tonight I did turkey stir fry:eat: I put in so much sesame oil, tamari and garlic, you couldn't even tell it was turkey! For lunch I made myself a Rachel ( a reuben but with turkey) and dh a Francios (reuben with duck) I made that up and feel quite clever (it dosen't take much to amuse me during this time of cabin fever!)
Anyone had a ski lately? I went yesterday but it was too warm and the snow was sticking terribly. It was still grand:love

Glad to hear everyone had a good holiday. I have been one busy mama, I knitted Urijah a earflap hat made out of his grammys homespun wool, almost had a Christmas baby, now tring for a new years baby. Headed to the sledding hill tonight with a few friend it should be a good night for it.
What are your goals for the new year? I have about a million of them, but always looking for more good ones. I really need to get more orginized, Iam about ready to pay someone to do it, I have no time. So if anyone has any good ideas (especialy for the kitchen) Iam all ears!

Has anyone up Houghton way checked out the new Nara trail sledding hill? We went yesterday and had a ball! It was uncrowded, just the right speed and the dd's loved it. We're going again today after church. There is a second option there for sledding that is so steep, I lost visual contact with dh for about 5 seconds. He screamed like a girl:D
I don't recommend that hill for the faint of heart....

RedHot: Did your girls like the hills there? I have heard that some of them were pretty hairy. We have been looking for more places to sled, we have been going down back roads up north to find different hills. Iam getting ready to hit traprock valley with the snow board, death wish, I havent done it five years, but snowboarding is just like riding a hose you never forget, only your muscles do :lol

Haven't been on this forum for awhile so I missed our invite to the library Lakesuperiormom, but I would love to get together soon! I am trying to come out of my reclusive gestating winter state and be more social! For real, keep me posted on what you are up to, I've been wondering how you are doing. How is Oak Meadow going?? I'm excited to use it for next year. We've just been doing some playful letter recognition this year and mostly just kicking it waldorf kindergarten style, pretty laid back (but still keeps me amazingly busy!)
Congrats Crayon on becoming a WIFE:wink!
by the way there is a bunch of moms who meet regularly at the library on WEdnesday's at 6 pm. Its a little too late in the day for me and my kids so I'm not there a lot but for those who are interested it seems like it would be fun.

Hi Ellen,
I am the LLL Leader up in Hancock and would be more than happy to field any calls from your area. The Marquette Group folded sadly, but one of the Leaders from Escanaba will be moving to the Trenary area and opening a new Group there within the next year or so. I have the Marquette Group's LLL lending library and will be sending it that way when that Group opens. Thanks for supporting LLL!:bfs
Last summer I did a travelling meeting down in the children's area of your fine library and if there is a strong need, I could always be persuaded to come again...

That is always a great idea! "Official" LLL meetings must have an accredited Leader present, but breastfeeding here, there, and everywhere sets a great example and helps to normalize the breast in our oversexualized culture. You smart mamas already know this of course, please forgive the mini rant:love

Hey just piping in! Haven't checked this thread in a while. I'm feeling really good right now with the pregnancy but just came down with a cold, ugh! First one this year though. lakesuperior, I would like to meet up sometime when everyone is well again
mpjjj, hello there! How's the Soo? Its cold here:cold:but I hear tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and 30 (does that qualify as warm?)
It almost qualifies as warm here in da soo! Went sledding at Minneapolis Woods yesterday, had a blast, never shivered once! Now that it's getting sunny out, I'm almost sad to see winter go. :)

Spring fever is upon us, someone talk some sense into me for it is way too early! I saw someone washing their car by hand yesterday and it seemed like a good idea because the temp. was all the way up to 39!
:flowersforyou:Happy to help with the basement organization. Anybody else have spring cleaning projects? We are drooling over the seed catalogs over here:D

Yay! You found it :) It takes a bit of getting used to, but you'll get the hang of it.
I haven't been around MDC in awhile, hope everyone's doing great and wishing for spring(I know I am).
Hopefully some of us Marquette mamas can get together soon, and maybe even start a regular thing up again... I miss our weekly library hang outs :/

And I, for one, second the idea to have regular get togethers in the Marquette area. Other than our homeschool group, we never see anyone "crunchy."
One more thing - does anyone know of a midwife in the area willing to do a VBA2C in Ishpeming? I just discussed the idea of having a VBAC with my OB, and she vetoed it with no hope of further discussion. I've never explored midwifery in the area, so any leads would be helpful. You can PM me if you don't want to post it here (don't want to hog the thread).

Thanks all for your congrats! I'm just starting to get used to the idea. Today, I had to "dress up" for an "Art after hours" event that my art association is hosting and I realized that I will be wearing my only dress pants for the very last time, today. oy vey.
I would be into getting together on a regular basis. In the past we've met at places like the library or the Children's Museum...I, personally, would prefer to meet at individual houses or at parks or beaches (when it gets warm enough...). I am not available regularly online at this point...but someone will certainly contact me, I hope :)

Ellen's number is the tricky part! I don't have it (i'm using her assistant as a midwife since Ellen, herself may be out of town in June, when I'm due), but imalego has it, or stop by the cafe at the Marquette library and the ask the ladies there (sometimes Ellen is even working).

I have Ellen's number, just not on hand. I will send it to you next week (when I have access to a computer :) )

Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying our "heat wave"! DH is taking the kids ice fishing this afternoon, and I'm thinking about seeing if we can make a snowman before things get too slushy. I've promised a trip to the library, too, but I think we'll wait for a yucky day to do that. If anyone wants to plan a library get together, let me know! :thumb

Are you pregnant and want to have continuous physical and emotional support during your labor? If so, you need a Doula!
What is a Doula?
A woman trained and experienced in childbirth who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a woman during labor, birth and the immediate postpartum period.
Why have a Doula?
Recent studies indicate better outcomes for babies and their mothers; shorter labors; fewer interventions and complications; decreased use of medications; and a greater maternal satisfaction when a labor support person is present.
What does a Doula do?
We will meet with the you (and you partner) during pregnancy, assisting with preparing their birth plan and answering any questions you might have. We will by your side through the entire labor, providing emotional support and offering practical suggestions for comfort and pain management. We are there for YOU!
We currently have 2 doulas in our services. Please feel free to contact them.

Hi everyone,
Just discovered this tribe! Sorry if I'm barging in, new to these forums. I'm a recent transplant from Arizona living in Hancock township (sometimes, though, I might as well be from Mars.) I'm loving it though. We saw the Northern Lights for the first time last Sunday morning. I just started some seeds indoors this weekend and took ds to the "family fair" at the mall today. He loved the farm animals. I'm wondering if we should try raising chickens.
Redhotmama, I was at MOPs too on Tuesday! I'm not a morning person so I was the one drinking lots of coffee trying to stay awake during that massage demo. Are you going again?

I was at the first table, short brown hair and the one asking all the questios:)
I used to go to the night MOPS but now there is a conflict so I would like to join the morning group.
If you're feeling like a Martian, I'll have to have you around for tea. One of my dd's is surely close in age to your little one...

Hey everyone... I don't know if you remember me but I was at the mexican dinner late summer/fall of 07. I'm finally moving up and was wondering if anyone knew of any mothers in need of childcare in the area. I am looking to take care of 3 kids on a hopefully full time basis so the ratio would be small. Charge is 3$/hour...does this seem reasonable, should I be charging more?? I am not advertising here but wanted to at least share a few points for those who might be interested in learning here below.
Please email me if you know of anyone who might have interest:

Thank you much! I'm sure I will be running into many of you soon, can't wait until our playgroups start!! :)
Congrats on the two new pregnant mamas!!

Yes, I'd like to chime in about the co-op dinner. I didn't even make it halfway down the vegan table before my plate was heaping (and then, I couldn't even eat half of what I took!).
It's getting to be time when we will actually be able to get together...when this damn snow decides to lift. I usually make a point to get outside everyday for at least an hour...but when I awoke yesterday to 10 degrees:cold:...well, I just couldn't take it. And then, to awaken to snow again today!!!??!!! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!! I swear I've never felt this way before.

Hey Desiree,
No worries about Daniel. I felt like he acted like a three year old acts at times and didn't really think he was being negative or anything.
I'm glad that you got your "much needed breath." I understand what you mean by that. I believe, very much, in things such as no vax and homebirth...and around here, people often think that we do these things to try to prove some point...to bend the rules...to be overtly different. Too many people don't understand that these things are things we believe in because we believe the paths we choose are the safest choices for our children.
Nice to meet you.
See you all on Monday? This is my last day online for awhile.

If anyone want me to send them links to contact those that should be contacted please pm or email me you addy and I will forward that to you. Hey so the MJ wants us to give them a list of mommas who have used doulas and woudl be willing to talk about it.
This is from Eshell my partner with the Marquette Doula services....
"The Mining Journal will be at my house Monday at eleven for an interview over doulas. They can't advertise a business so we will be discussing what a doula is, what her duties are, and the benefits of doula care. Kristin is looking for present or past clients who would be willing to be here Monday or who would be willing to be contacted for an interview on having a doula. **see if you can get a client or past client to either come Monday or would be willing to be contacted by the MJ for an interview."
Sooooooooooooo if any of you mommas are up for the challenge let me know. Shoot me an email! Desibugz@yahoo I will let her know and she can call you to ask you about why you chose a doula and all the fun stuff. I really think it will be a great article in the paper...People up here are sooooooooooo medicalized th this will bust some of them out of the cookie cutter OB, on your back give birth or get a c section. Should be good.........
Let me know.........

Sorry to jump in here....but I just wanted to share dh and my latest fantasy, maybe come true. Dh is laid off right now (we are downstate) and just stumbled across a job listing in Marquette. I have actually talked him into applying for it! We have both been daydreaming about it the last 2 days.
I told him that if it happens, it was meant to be. If it seems like a struggle to make it happen, then it wasn't meant to be.
Anyway....just wanted to share my tiny little potential of maybe becoming a Yooper once again!
Please keep your fingers crossed for us that fate takes our hand!

Hi everybody! I am very new to this forum stuff, I hope I'm doing it right. :eyesroll I just wanted to introduce myself a little bit. My husband and I and our three kids just moved back up here to the UP last May, we live in the Kingsford area. We are a naturally minded family, desperately hoping to find some land and move out in the country. I am soon wanting to begin my midwifery training also, and that is how I found your forum...I found the thread on Ellen Rabe. I was wondering if someone could give me her number...I am looking for someone to apprentice with. I hope to get to know everyone better....:o Hope I post this right!:o

Oh no....no LLL in Marquette? I was counting on one being there if we move up! Is there a reason there isn't one? We have a huge network here downstate, I guess I'll have to get my leadership before (if) I come up and start a group! LOL

04-07-2008, 08:43 PM
Hey Redhot, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind passing on some info to me about LLL leader-ing... I've been thinking about it, and we really need something here, and I think it's time that I start it back up! I just don't know where to start..
As far as apprenticing with Ellen... we have a group of birth-minded mamas that meet up every other week with Ellen and a CNM here in town and as I understand it, Ellen isn't very actively practicing anymore and I'm not sure she attends enough births for someone to apprentice under. :/ Sorry to be a downer, but the UP just doesn't have the home birth population it needs in order to facilitate a midwife apprentice.(and believe me, if it did, I'd be there in a second!)
And I just wanted to tell babycatcher that I recently saw your mother in a birth video Ellen had from way back, and she looked so wonderfully happy, and Ellen spoke so well of her. I just thought I should share.:candle

From what I've read, someone needs to become a leader, but there isn't a limit to how many leaders are in one area;) And, from what I've read you usually go through the application with a leader in your area(which we do not have) so now I'm wondering where I go next... Redhot?? :D

duh! the whole reason i came on here is to ask for recommendations for massage therapists! when i was preggers with e we were in a car accident and i did some damage to m left shoulder and upper back and now that l is heavier carrying him in the sling is aggravating it...the same happened with n at this age. so....anyone know someone who can help me with my back....which is causing the migraines...which are not really migraines, but migraine-like something's can't remember what they were called by the neurologist.

04-16-2008, 04:12 PM
I was also very confused abut his article.....he first thing that irked me a little was he is talking about when he was in school....this man (ellen knows who he is) is old!! Sooooooooo for him to bring up what happen back in his day is really irrelevant to what is going on with birth in 2008. Know what i mean...times have change and sadly homebirth is very very very very far from the "norm" now......an IS looked down upon....where hospital births with all the unnecessary interventions are praised....even though our infant mortality rate is the 2nd highest in the world in CIVILIZED countries.:angry
MY OPINIONS! :)
lakesuperiormom
04-16-2008, 04:21 PM
well, to me, homebirths are like homeschooling in the fact that people aren't informed about the subject.....not necessarily that it's looked down upon...people just don't know...they aren't informed and if you aren't informed about something...why would you think otherwise? yk :)

I hope, Lauren, that you are feeling better, now.
I went to Breathe Owl Breathe and they were FABULOUS! The mere name of the band is what originally drew me. I bought one of their cd's and have been playing the *bleep* out of it ever since. I LOVE them! Their music is nicely simplistic and a little off-beat and very melodic...mostly guitar and cello with a little base, glockenspiel, and piano here and there...the songs keep running through my brain. The music is also very child appropriate.
Writing, quickly, from the Milwaukee area. I will have a new computer in mere days!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to be in touch!

Hey all! I am going to post my post here on this thread as well in hopes of catching the attention of the right people :)
We are considering moving to Marquette, Michigan next year. Could anyone fill me in on the general feel of the area? Everything I have read makes it sound wonderful, do you all feel the same? Is there room up there for a midwife? I can't find much online about midwifery in the area.
Thanks so much!
The more I read so far, the more certain I am that we will go up there. My husband is finishing up his degree in Information Technology to be a network administrator.... hopefully there is work for him up there as well!

This is a great place to live! and we definitely need more midwives:thumb
We have a wonderful natural food coop, a farmer's market and a couple of good CSAs. I grew up here, moved away for 10 years and came back because I really couldn't find a better place to raise my kids. Besides the never ending winter, short growing season, and black fly hatches it really is fabulous.:)!

LOL! I love your description!! It sort of reminds me of growing up in MN.... besides the humitity, mosquitoes that could carry away small dogs, and the frozen tundra that is MN in winter, it was a great place to grow up :wink
I am so excited to just hear so much good stuff about the area. How hard is it to find work (for my hubby... network administrator)? And is there someplace specific we should be looking online for job postings?

Hi all you yooper mamas! I hope you're too busy pulling maple seedlings (they are everywhere in my yard and gardens!) to be reading this. Spring is here. I know this because the street sweeper guy has been driving by all week:p
He makes it real.
Plus the hyacynths, daffodils and primroses:flower

Awesome, thank you! I see there is a place on that website to post a resume as well, so as it gets closer my DH will have to get on that. As long as he can get a job up there, that is where we will be heading next spring/summer :) I am really hoping he finds a job easily.
Yes, I am a doula! Are doulas big up that way? I have to say, they aren't super duper popular down here. The people who want one really want one, but the vast majority of people don't know the difference between a doula and a midwife around these parts.
I am so excited, I wish I could move right now!! :love

Well, the people who do know at a doula is, want one...but the majority of people up her do not know what one is. That is why our main mission rigth now is getting our name out there. MANY MANY MANY people think we are midwifes.....seriously i have had like 3 or 4 people ask me to catch their babies! I was like WHOAAAAAA no baby catching here..... ( yet anyway) So i understand how you feel. It sounds like its the same here with that.
Good luck on landing some jobs up here so you can move here!!

Hotwings, it would be great to have you here! If Ellen leaves, I will have to catch my own babies :lol The more midwives, the more encouragement for healthier birth options. This is the kind of place that NEEDS birth choice education...so many people believe that they HAVE to have c-sections and inductions.
I'm sure that on many levels Marquette is similar to Appleton...it is far less citified, however...there is little sprawl, thus far. I love it here and only threaten to leave when the snow and cold hang on just a little too long (like this year!). There is nothing like Lake Superior.

Hi all,
I will have online access for the next couple of weeks...and I may even be getting a computer, for real!, this week...we'll see how the cosmos responds....
What I am wondering is what kinds of plans do the Mqt. mamas have this week?
I will be in Mqt. and available for gathering on Tuesday and Wednesday this week (May 5 and 6). I think I may have to forgo our normal Monday meeting...I am just too busy this week.
Who can and would like to meet Tuesday or Wed.? When and where? I am available from 11-3 each day...
Hopefully it will be warm!

On a very lovely UP note...
today, some mamas and I went for a walk with our children, in town. I just pulled C. out of the bath sink (haha, no tub for us...) and found a tick in the curl of his outer ear! We weren't even in the woods! :yikes:Yuckyuckyuckyuckyuck!!:yikes:
Now I feel like they're crawling all over me!

I see that it is raining...I still want to gather, but I'm not so sure that I think a playground would be the best (cleanest?) place to go today. I'd still go for a walk...
or perhaps the Children's Museum? hmmmm...

Oh, Desi, gee!
Wow! At least he is allergic to something that is seriously nasty, anyway. It could be worse, he could be allergic to something like nuts, instead!
So, update us, please, on Monday night's class. How did it go?
And, please, please PLEASE post future event in advance (so that I don't do something stupid like make myself unavailable again!).

I vote museum! And we don't have a car today, so if anyone wants to start their walk at my house, feel free :)
I think the class went great on Monday, and I'm really excited for the next one- Postpardom and Breastfeeding - I *think* the date for that one is Monday, June 2nd at 6:30.

Yup i am tankful for the allergy in the long run, because it keeps me from giving him crap candy! We know he has other allergies but we cant pin point them yet.....i want to get muscle testing done ..not the needle allergy test, does anyone know anyone up her who does it??
Es the circus is at Lakeview arena last night and tonight 430 and 730....it was fun Daniel loved it and now wants to be a bear tamer! lovely lovely
I think class went sooooooo good. SOme new faces and people from all different walks of life. WHICH is what i wanted. The class is always the first Monday of every month. NExt month is breastfeeding, nutrition and post pardom...should be interesting. I WANT BF to come!! Show mommas that BF is t weird of sexual....people really ave a warped view on it.
ALSO....need advice and tips n how (the following month is hot topic and birth stories night) so we need to figure out how to address vaccines, circumcision, BF VS Formula and any other "hot topics" without staring a brawl. Its soooo hard. Especially because even Eshell (the other leader) and I disagree greatly on some of these.....HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Any ideas????
Many say we shouldn't do these topics BUT i feel we need to do so because sooooooooooooooooo many people ave NO IDEA!!! And they do not address them "really"in any other open forum.....????
THANKS!! Desi

Oooooo! I do! I do!
The lady for whom I'm house-sitting has taken several kinesiology classes.
I'll talk to her and find out what kind of availability she has...and how you might contact her. We'll talk or I'll pm you about it after I talk to her (she's outta town until Sat. or so).

I will come, but I'm not sure if I'll want to bring C. with me...I know that he won't be exactly cooperative about listening or sitting (or anything that I want to do :wink).

I think that these topics need to be addressed. I think that people are very uneducated about the variety of choices that they actually have. I know that my sisters would both be more "into" some of the choices that I make if they were surrounded by the perspectives of the people with whom I surround myself. I know that mainstream society has influenced a lot of their decisions, because it's all they kn
