We had a pretty crappy night's sleep last night and, just out of curiosity, I'm wondering what all you mamas were up to in the wee dark hours. Were you snoozing peacefully or were you patting/nursing/rocking along with us? :wink

My little one is teething like a banshee, so we were up a few times last night. This too shall pass, right? Right??? :)

:yawning: DD has a cold and is soooo stuffy! She is also teething so I was up rocking, patting, and nursing with you! :D :coffee

DS woke up THREE times last night, which is unusual. The first time was okay and a given (we had let him fall asleep in our bed, then moved him to his crib for some ALONE TIME :wink...he woke a couple of hours later). But then he woke up two other times, and he didn't want TOUCHED, but wanted to lay his head in my hand in this really wierd position. My neck is STIFF this morning.

Ds woke up about every hour last night, it's his first cold and he's pretty mad that he can't breath through his nose. And I had to be at work by 6 am this morning. :thumb (we need a sarcastic thumbs up)

DD is learning to cruise/stand/almost-walk and can't stop standing up... even in her sleep! No rocking/patting here - she was up 'til 2am just cruising around the house - totally disinterested in sleep. :coffee

DD, 8 mos tomorrow, decided that 3 am was a good time to get up for the day. She was all happy and talking. She didn't fall asleep again until 7 am, and by that time, my 4 yo was awake! :yawning:
Oh well, I really shouldn't complain; DD very rarely wakes up overnight, even to nurse! I was getting my full 8 hours sleep/night since she was born!

Count me in as one who didn't get much sleep last night. DS was asleep by 8:30, up crying by 10 (took dh and I one hour to tagteam to calm him), up crying at 12 (another hour to soothe, just me this time), up again at 6 after sleeping 4 hours with me, and then he got another hour or so while I laid beside him wishing I was sleeping.
He's 7 1/2 months, so he's probably doing some combination of teething (no teeth yet), trying out his new tricks (trying to crawl) and having some separation anxiety. Plus, he's got a stuffy nose.
Wish I had a baby behavior translator...something to help me understand what's up with him. While he's never been a good sleeper, he doesn't usually cry. He is even refusing to nurse for comfort - his favorite way to fall back asleep.

We slept pretty well, the baby has always been a good sleeper (providing he's not going through a growth spurt) I just nurse him in my sleep. :lol

DD is sleeping horribly right now. She was up three times at night to nurse. She just randonly wakes up which means I stir for DS' night time nursings and then add her three scream fests for a rather awful night of sleep. I just fell asleep while she was playing. :bag

Ashamed to admit that, though I'm sorry for all you non-sleeping moms, it kinda helps to know that, as I'm shshshsing for the umpteenth time--- I'm in good company! Here's to coffee and chocolate. :flipped

Last night (and almost every night for the past several months) I was up about every 1 1/2 hours with my DD, nursing her back to sleep every time. She's been like this for a long time now (since about 4 months, she is now 9 months), I'm guessing it's the teething, but who knows? I've just resigned myself to the fact that I am not going to be able to sleep again until DD is two. Of course I am starting to go crazy from the sleep deprivation. And I am getting less and less done at my job. Here's to hoping I won't get fired anytime soon! :thumb (another sarcastic thumbs up)

My usual good sleeper is no more :( He used to nurse 2-3x/night darn near in his sleep from around 7-8pm to about 6 am. Now he doesn't sleep for more than 1.5 hours at any time. Not napping well, not sleeping well. I'm hoping this is a phase!!!! (Teething, learning new tricks) I have a sinus infection and an ear infection and just want to sleep and he is Mr. Grumpalufagus...not a pretty combo. :flipped

Well, letsee.....dd was gnawing on me all night long, demanding to switch sides every 5m. Ds was refusing to sleep in the sidecar because he was cold (but I hate blankets/socks/pjs mom!). Dh was stuffed up and snoring like a chainsaw.
I tried to slip out the couch....dd went balistic...ds followed me out there.
I'm really tired!

Gnawing on me all night long :lol I gotta use that one. We had one of those kind of nights on Saturday. Last night was somewhat better.
Of course, the three of us are currently camped out on the living room floor as we're doing an insulation project via the bedroom. Yep, the weekend was a real joy.

Always up nursing! I wish I had a way to chat with sleep deprived moms so I don't feel so isolated at night.

I was "bed hopping" last night. dd sleeps with us and ds sleeps in his own bed, but in the same room. Seems like lately as soon as I get one baby settled in, the other one wakes up. I woke up three times last night not knowing whose bed I was in!! Tonight will be better, right? Baby's asleep, 2.5 year-old is still going strong! We'll see....

last night was our first halfway decent night in two weeks. dd, ds, and i have been sick at different times over that time period, so sleep has been fitful around here. dd (4 1/2) hasn't really slept with us since ds was born (her choice), but has been in our bed since she has been sick - or i've joined her in her bed. ds *just got too big and mobile for the cosleeper so he's in the bed with us all now - and he's been nursing allllllllllll night long since he was having a hard time breathing out of his nose, was coughing, and was teething badly on top of it all (four teeth in a week!).
anyway, last night was GREAT! i went to bed at 12ish - ds had gone to sleep at 7:30, was up at 9:45 and right back down - up again around 5 and right back down, and again at 7:30. :love dd slept in her bed and dh didn't snore! :fingersx: for the same luck tonight.

Other than waking to nurse, oh, I don't know - eight times, maybe ten last night - it was great. At least he goes back to sleep. For a while. Then wakes to nurse again.
Not looking good for tonight. He went to bed at 8:30 for about 20 minutes. He's been up ever since. Emptying the magazine rack as we "speak". Tried to nurse him down but he kept detaching and doing :D :love :p then finally :bouncy.
Ah, but babyhood is short....gotta keep reminding myself of that.
BTW, read the no cry sleep solution..so far, not so good, but at least the success stories gave me some hope.
Glad I'm not alone. DH is sleeping through the night as he has every night for the last 10 1/2 months in our fabulous king sized bed - but I get all of the cuddles so... :throb

We had a really crappy night, too! My little one (14 mos) is getting teeth and has a cold that is making him miserable. He wanted to nurse and flail around all night. THEN, my older son (4 in January) decides to wake up at5:15am and wake EVERYONE ELSE UP AND THEN KEEP US UP. He's normally anearly waker, but this is just getting ridiculouS! Thanks for letting me share. :irked:

Dd slept okay last night (up 3-4 times, with at least 2 hour intervals, which is good for her). I on the other hand was trying to do some school work before I went to bed and had a coffee around five p.m. I tossed and turned all night and woke up everytime she squeaked. Plus, I've got some serious pain in the shoulder of the side I usually nurse on. That whole side of my body is tingling...like a pinched nerve. Dw tried to rub it & but it hurt more. She did bring me a heating pad thought :). But ouch...the pain is spreading to the other shoulder.
So far tonight, it took 1 hour+ to get her to sleep, but she seems to be sleeping pretty well. And she is so beautful asleep :love :love :love

OK - seeing as another night is upon us...I am looking forward to NOT repeating last night.
DH and I were "up" :wink until 12;30AM - Between 12:30 and 5AM I was woken up SEVEN tIMES!
Twice by my 4yo dd who had a bad dream about spiders...
Twice by my 1yo dd to nurse...
AND THREE TIMES BY DH who is an AVID sleep walker/talker/etc...Last night he kept waking me up to "move your head - scoot down - I really don't feel ok about this" (this being the headboard - which apparenly last night had taken on the form of a contruction crew building a freeway by our heads?!?!?
I guess I should be glad - usually he is jumping on the bed to "hold up" the moving ceiling fan or turn on the lights or stop the car (aka bed) from rolling down a hill and I wake up with the bed (with me and dd on it) being pushed in to the middle of the room.....

My doc gave me the okay to give ds a little cold medicine and I hate to admit it but it knocked his little butt out and I was a pretty happy mamma! He woke once for a dipe change and a nurse and then off to sleep again. So of to work I go at 6:30 and maybe today I won't be such a ....well.....you know :wink .

Well, I have to feel a little more sorry for myself than some of you. My son has his molars and canines coming in (1y2m) and I have severe cracked nipples (long-term, apparently unsolvable problem :irked: ). God knows how often he wakes up- I long ago stopped watching the clock. But last night, he wriggled himself around and kicked me in the face and made my lip bleed too.
Ho hum...love sleeping with the little monkey all the same. And it gives me an excuse to ask my husband to change his nappy every morning :wink
