Is it possible to have/get ppd 7 mo after birth? Well I guess it would more like after 5 months. I took the quiz for how I feel now and I scored 67. :( I dontk now if it is just compete stress and my normal depression or if it is worse. It feels worse.

Can anyone help me?

kim, be sure when you call someone you let them know it's urgent. i know when i called, over seven places said the wait would be over a month to be seen. that's not ok.

be gentle with yourself. we know how overwhelming it is.

it's a really positive step to reach out for help!!! :hug

I agree with what georgia said.....even have your husband call and tell them you must been seen ASAP and that you have PPD. The emergency room is not fun and I ended up there...but anything to get help. :throb :heartbeat :heartbeat

Your regular care provider should have emergency slots.

I called today and they said I couldnt get in until mid November! I even told them it was for ppd. I am going to call again tomorrow and see if I can get a different receptionist.

Call again tomorrow and if they put you off ask them if there are any care providers in the area who help their patients on an emergency basis because you are in crisis and you need help. (Hopefully this will guilt them into making an appt or perhaps you'll get a recommendation.) And if that doesn't work, PM me with the number and I'll get your appt for you. ;) (But I'm out most of the day tomorrow.)

Or you could always be drammatic and say "shit, I hope I don't kill myself by then. What's your name by the way?"

OK, that's the best bet. Write it down and use it if you have to.

bypass the receptionist---ask for a nurse or the doctor. like gale force said, ask for their names, too. there's more accountability.

please update us when you can. i'm thinking of you. you're going to feel better soon....:hug

I was diagnosed at my dd's 6 month check up (her ped is also my general practitioner and was my pregnancy care doctore so she took one look at me and knew something wasn't right!)...

I hope the doctor made time to see you and that you're on the road to better health...I know some of the doctors around here will take emergency patients if they just walk into the office. At least it would be harder for a receptionist to put you off if you were crying in front of the other patients! (I cried A LOT before being diagnosed...well, I'm still crying a fair amount but at least I'm getting help now...so tearing up in the doctor's office wouldn't have taken much effort)

Well - as it turns out the pharmacy gave me the wrong disage of my prozac! They gave me only half of what I was taking! So I took it like that for a month before I realized it! I did go to the dr. just to be safe, though, and now I'm feeling alot better. I'm taking alot more vitamins, even got a vitamin shot a few times, and am on the correct dosage of prozac again. :love

Mine started probably a month or two after birth, but I let it go until she was 6 months old. I scored in the 70's on the test and was diagnosed with severe PPD. Make calls. Tell them it's URGENT. It can and WILL get better, momma. You're SO not alone. :hug

I didn't realize I had it until 10 months (although I think it may have started at around 6 months). Just wanted to let you know you are not alone. I never knew PPD could appear later on.

Hang in there, we are right there with you! :throb

I was just recently diagnosed and put on medication that I was very reluctant to take, but made me feel so much better! My son was ill at birth and I was so together through all the tests etc. but once he was better I totally fell apart! :nut My son was 5 months old before I got any help, so don't wait...you can feel better! By the way, you can go to your emergency department. They usually have some sort of crisis team that will ensure you get the help you need.

Good luck!

I am SO sorry I put this here! I had posted a thread about myself and PPD and I thought this was it. Sorry to hijack the thread and I hope you're doing better.
